Guadalupe Mountains National Park is one of 2 National Parks in Texas. Even though Guadalupe Mts is officially in Texas, its just a short drive from Carlsbad Caverns and Carlsbad New Mexico! It was perfect to hit up both parks two days in a row.
Guadalupe Mountains NP is home to the 4 highest peaks in Texas! It was a windy day, so I chose not to hike to Guadalupe Peak- the official high point of Texas and instead hiked to Devil's Hall.
Devil's Hall was the first recommendation of the ranger on duty and I am so happy I too her advise. The hike was just over 2 miles, but went through a wash for the majority of the hike. There are boulders to climb over and a scramble up some "stairs" to lead you to the hall itself. So much fun and so worth the extra effort on rough terrain.
I checked out Frijole Ranch while I was in the area before moving on to Big Bend National Park!
Guadalupe Mountains in Salt Flat, Texas is the native homeland of the Mescalero Apache Nation. Check out native-land.ca/ to see more on stollen lands.

I use the Native Lands website and App to learn the history of people native to the areas that are now national parks. This is a great place to learn more about the people of America and this history of where you live. native-land.ca/

I started my full time travel journey at the start of 2020 when I quit my job. My plan was to travel the world, but my timing was horrible. I decided to stay closer to home and explore the US. That decision prompted me to build out my Ford Transit van and travel to 50 National Parks and I'm currently working on all 50 states. My goal is to get to all 50 states within a single year! Thanks for joining me along the way!

At 19:07, you see, on the left side of the frame, the aptly named "Nipple Hill". Not a joke.....
❤ great video
Loved seeing you test out that prickly pear! Thanks for all the footage of this trail.
😂 one of my more memorable experiences!
Scenery is just outstanding. Gorgeous place. Love the music and editing in this one.
Nicely done!
Thank you!! I wanted to mix it up a little!
Excellent video! I've been on that trail 3 times and each time it's a new adventure! Awesome hike.👍
That would be really fun to see how it changes each time!!
I'm a solo traveler and I am enjoying your content! You will LOVE Big Bend! The Window hike, Santa Elena (go all the way to the end) and the Lost Mine Trail (the road to get there is VERY rough) there are so many wonderful trails.
Yes! Happy you’re here. Thank you!!
I just stumbled across your channel planning for a Guadalupe mountain trip with my dad! I really enjoyed it.
That’s awesome- thank you!! It’s pretty close to Carlsbad Caverns if you’re already headed that way.
Wow! You really made my day by taking the time to respond to my comment.
Great video Laura! Love when people get to explore new hikes in Texas.
Such a beautiful side of the sate to see. The drive was such a pleasant surprise between my trips to Big Bend and Guadalupe Mountains!
Well done, we hiked Devils Hall last year but didn't know where it ended. We turned around too soon apparently. Nice video.
I kept asking people who were coming the other way. Luckily there were people eating lunch at the end and that helped too!
Cool video and this place is on my list to go to
It exceeded all of my expectations! You’ll love it when you get there.
Wonferful Vídeo. Thanks a lot
Happy it helped!!
Love your video!!! Thanks for trying the prickly pear so I didn’t have to… lol.
Travel broadens the mind (Quote from Dr Who)
Exactly! And I'll be better prepared for that prickly pear next time!!
@@LauraOnTheMove You're an amazing lady. Thanks for sharing.
Love this video! I'm hoping to go to Guadalupe this winter :) Also for future prickly pears, you can burn the spines off with a lighter/stove burner if you want to eat them!
Oooo I like that tip for prickly pears. I do want to try them again some time! Hope you have a great trip to Guadalupe, it's beautiful!!
Do you know of any hike trails w/ mountains near Temple, TX?
And I truly enjoyed watching your video! Subscribed! ☺️
I’m happy to hear you’re enjoying the videos! I haven’t had the chance to hike near Tempel, but it looks like you’re less then 8 hours from Big Bend! You might have to plan a trip when the weather cools off 😎
💚
Awesome video content as usual!!! Laura what year is your van again? Any issues with it on your travels this last year?
Thanks! It’s a 2020 and I didn’t have any issues. Just needed oil changes and I rotated the tires and it was perfect!
Awesome video! What month did you visit?
Hi! It was in November. Great time of year for hiking in Texas. \
You’re making me nervous eating the prickly pear. If you rub the fruit on a rock it removes the tiny spines and peels it too.
I didn’t end up eating very much at all. It would be cool to try it again with a little more confidence!
