Your instruction video was great. In only two minutes of narration, I was able to gain the knowledge to complete this very necessary task that will allow me to protect my investment in my new Jeep. Thanks .
That is only during installation, you can remove it once it is installed by locking the lock as if the hood was shut and removing the key. Just don't forget to unlock the lock before closing the hood
Easy to install and sturdily mounted. Installed correctly but didn't like the fact that I could wedge my fingers behind the lock and slide the latch to the side with the tips of my fingers therefore making this lock more of a visual deterrent than physical lock.
+Anthony Garciacano Would you be able to e-mail some info about your Jeep or potentially pictures of the installation to jason@boltlock.com? I want our engineers to look into this. Thanks!
mine went on easily. I followed the directions and coded the key. The only issue I have is that the key CAN be removed while int he unlock position, Why would this be?
Steam Roller The key should not be able to come out in the unlocked position, did you have to put extra pressure on the key to pull it out? And how far to the left was your key turned when you were able to pull it out? If you could e-mail us at info@boltlock.com we will definitely help figure out what is going on with your lock. Thanks!
Steam Roller I’m actually ok with the option of being able to remove the key when in the UNLOCKED position. I prefer that option. Is that how the lock is these days or can one only remove the key in the LOCKED position ?
This lock is easily defeated by just reaching through and up behind the grill with your hand and releasing the hood catch while the bolt lock is in the "locked" position.
@66 We actually have a retrofit to fix that issue with the locks available now. If you contact us at info@BOLTLock.com we can get you the necessary parts to fix that issue.
Can you use nuts and bolts instead of rivets? Things are getting bad in Philly with people stealing batteries:6abc.com/automotive/police-theft-ring-targeting-jeep-wrangler-batteries/2249757/
You can use nuts and bolts instead of the rivets. Because of the tight space to get in there we recommend the rivets as it makes installation quicker and easier. However we have seen customers use nuts and bolts. Once the grill is back on they won't be able to get access to the bolts, or rivets.

This was much easier than expected.
Where does the need of a Phillips screwdriver come into play?
Quick question, what if you need to jump start the Jeep? You said the key cannot be removed at unlocked position...
Ken Wang open the hood, turn the key to the lock position with the hood opened and remove the key.

I have the new angry grill. The lock sits too high up. Have they come up with a solution to fix that problem. Do not want to use locking latches
Unfortunately we do not have a solution to that yet. I'll make sure to talk to our engineers and see what we can do to help you out.
HI DID YOU FIND A SOLUTION, HAVE SAME ISSUE
Remove the angry grill
Easy fix. Get rid of that stupid angry grill.

You need the retrofit kit if your Jeep is a manual transmission.
