You know it's going to be a good day when there's another Paul Stewart upload. RUclips's premier aviation tour guide. No fluff, heaps of facts but not too long.
Hi Paul. Great video. I see to recall you looking through this plane last I , as part of a bigger museum tour,...but I maybe bonkers, too !😂 It was something about the lift for the president to use that reminded me, or was there another plane also that had a lift for a president ?
What a treat. I live near here and visit at least once a month. Paul makes it so much more interesting and fun. I learn so much. I'm so glad to be a Member here. Thank You Paul.
That was great Paul. Technically, "Air Force One" is the radio call sign for any aircraft carrying the Present. So, technically, it could be a Piper Cub.
My shoulders are wide and I visited it once. I tried turning around to look behind me and got stuck between the window panel things. It took me a small amount of work to get unstuck, but luckily nobody was around to see me flapping my arms around inside the Sacred Cow for a few seconds.
I have been a subscriber for over a year now I'm sure and I love your in depth style and thoughtful choice of aircraft we are all interested in. I learn something and have an entertaining time always watching them. I am always wowed by aircraft museums and the history. I'm a student pilot that ran outta money but sure loved the little flying I did. ha ha. Thanks for all the hard work. I am a retired professional video editor and i realize the effort involved. Best to you Paul and keep up the great work! Tod in Las Vegas. :)
It’s great you can walk through it. Though I don’t see why ‘please don’t touch the aircraft’ signs are needed considering everything is behind plastic panels.
Very interesting. I actually didn't realize that FDR and Truman had a specially-built presidential plane! I long thought Eisenhower was the first to have one with the "Columbine II" (AKA the first Air Force One).
If you are ever in Southern California, do yourself a favor and go the Reagan Presidential Library and Museum. They have a real 707 that was used as Air Force One for Reagan in the Presidential transport wing.
C-54s did have a flight engineer. In fact, actor Montgomery Clift played one aboard a USAF C-54 in a movie about the Berlin Airlift titled, "The Big Lift." You should be able to find the movie on RUclips.
The thumbnail says the first Air Force One. But it was not called Air Force One. So not sure if you caught that. The first official Air Force 1 was a Lockheed constellation called Columbine 2
Fascinating video. Enjoyed the historical background. What's the size of the presidential entourage these days? About 750, I seem to recall - completely OTT.
Great video! Just wanna say I love your content and I would LOVE if you made a video on the f16 or f15. They are my my favourite planes and it would mean the world to me. 😊❤ Also you do the best tours I can find on RUclips 😁
Theodore and Franklin's sides of the family pronounced Roosevelt differently. On Teddy's side, the first syllable was ROOZ as you are pronouncing it. FDR's side pronounced it ROZE.
@@jeremytibbs13 You have obviously have no idea what communism actually IS, which is sad for all those who have given their lives over the decades. Please enroll in some community college courses and perhaps READ.
I stopped watching @ RooooooSevelt. Now you know that's not how its pronounced and your not a school teacher. I initially had interest in this video and lost at 1 min 4 seconds. When you decided not to pronounce it correctly. Surely you have done some research on this footage. But forgot to research the following. Row - zuh -velt :)

Great to hear!
Aah, great memories! Excellent job, as usual, Paul.
Glad you enjoyed it
Great to see all the old tech on display, great job mate!
The C-54 was such a good looking airplane!
Another great video. Paul’s videos are always a must watch!
Glad you think so!
great video. Thanks for the tours!
Glad you enjoyed!
Thanks for the clarification as to which was the first "real" Air Force One. Cheers
It wasn’t
Great coverage. Love the video
Much appreciated!
As always a great vlog Paul
Thanks 👍
Awww yeah! Here we go!
There were still sextant ports on the E-3 Sentry when I crewed aboard. Seldom used though outside of training.
Always a good night when Paul uploads great video Paul ❤
Enjoy!
@@PaulStewartAviation I indeed enjoyed it my family also went on a 10 hour road trip to Sydney and I watched a lot of your flight reviews
Great show thanks for your hard work
Great video! FDR is a hero of mine and this is a great airplane.
Great tour! Thank You!
Glad you enjoyed it!

Amazing, Paul 🙂
Glad you like it!
You know, I never knew this aircraft had an elevator for FDR!

What a beautiful aircraft! ✈️
Awesome overview of an awesome plane!
Thanks a lot!
Thanks! What a great museum.

Interesting video as usual.

I once walked through that air plane, wright padderson Air Force base

It’s a VC-137B not a 707
That would be a fascinating aviation museum to visit.
It really is! I hope you've seen my other videos from there! There's over 2hrs worth of them :)
Thanks.
Fantastic video!!1 Thanks you!!!!👍
Highly informative. I learnt a lot here. Thank you. (Next, on to Ike's "AF1".)
Glad it was helpful!
I can’t believe there’s no flight engineer to monitor the 4 engines and systems- all down to the already busy pilots !
C-54s did have a flight engineer. In fact, actor Montgomery Clift played one aboard a USAF C-54 in a movie about the Berlin Airlift titled, "The Big Lift." You should be able to find the movie on RUclips.
Thank you
You're welcome
Awesome video! 💜
Thank you!!
Amazing
Thanks
Ernest K Gann was not a fan of the C-87. I think he said the engines were the only good thing about the plane.
The air force chooses* its hotels by the stars.
Where was the VC-54 "Sacred Cow" built? Douglas-Santa Monica or Douglas-Chicago (Park Ridge, IL)?
The thumbnail says the first Air Force One. But it was not called Air Force One. So not sure if you caught that. The first official Air Force 1 was a Lockheed constellation called Columbine 2
Yes, I said that in the video
Great aviation history
Interesting video
Glad you think so!
Well done, I noticed you slowed down which helps viewing the video. Keep it up 👍
Cheers! Yes I’m slowing down and including more info :) Off to the UK and USA again in August to film more slower videos :)

And the Marines love to eat chicken stars!
Was the area around the bulletproof glass armored? Seems a bit lacking if the glass is bulletproof, but you could just not aim for the window.

2:38 that doesn't really explain the strange nickname at all. I think there is some more symbolism there.
First was modified B24 if I’m correct 😊
It was not a dedicated aircraft
Yep i mention that in the video
Would you fly in this aircraft Paul? No wonder President Roosevelt opted for a gentle cruise on the return from Yalta
I’d love a flight in a DC-4… once. 😂
Roosevelt traveled both ways across the Atlantic on the USS Quincy
I wonder if you can do a walkaround for the Eurofighter Typhoon.
I need to find one that I can look at :)
There should be one in deutsches museum
Have u done a video on the vc-118 the independence?
Hi mate, not yet haha. I have the raw footage but so many other projects going on that I'm struggling to find the time :)
Flying White House? What, was Flight House taken?
Great vid. Thks.
I bet Lucy Mercer got a ride on Roosevelt's elevator.
Wait I thought you already did a video on the Sacred Cow?
I did 2 years ago but it wasn't very good. So I've re-edited it with over double of the footage with heaps more information :)
Too bad this aircraft will never fly again 😢.what a shame 😢
there was a big disagreement happening in the 40s in europe
Where was it built?
In China 🇨🇳
Shit I just realized how the hell did they know where they were? by calculating the time they traveled and the speed?
Yep and looking at stars
Note that FDR pronounced the first syllable of last name as "rose", not "rooze".
4:24 not really a saying, more a joke
Obviously it’s a joke
@@PaulStewartAviation if its a joke its not a saying, but oh well, love the facts and the museum
can't a saying also be a joke?
@@PaulStewartAviation from what i learned, no.
But im rambling and nitwitting way too much. The important parts are the beautiful museum and facts
Paul, you realize comments with pictures of a thong, with generic statements and ridiculous emojis, are bots?
Yep, but they comment on my videos which helps boost them :)
They should let biden get on he would think he was back in scranton in 1950
Ok
@@PaulStewartAviation 🤣😊
And put Trump on Con-Air 😂
@@PaulStewartAviation I will so we can fly straight out of communist America

I hate to be "that guy" but you're mispronouncing Roosevelt's name. It's Rose-uh-velt.
Eh, I’m not hearing any “mispronunciation.” Sure, there’s an accent there.
fair enough
FDR sadly lived way too long
Ok
Lord.get rid if the useless intro
Dont watch then 🤷♂️
