- Check out my story of swimming 21 miles across the English Channel, solo on August 25th 2017.
Thank you to everyone that donated. Together, we raised £23,500 for Dreams Come True childrens charity. www.dreamscometrue.uk.com
A big thank you to Fred & Harry Mardle for some awesome piloting, Red Top Swim, my family & friends, my coach's, Matt & Tim, my nutritionist, Tara, Alex Tyrwhitt for the footage and Matt Aland for the photos. Thank you to my sponsors E.W BODMAN, Les Roches Switzerland, Orlebar Brown and Nutristrength.
What happened on the first attempt was a freak accident. The prop shaft sheer'd off the engine. We did not hit rocks or get caught in anything like we thought at first.

I can’t describe how much respect I have for people like Chris. You are a legend and such an amazing inspiration brother. Chapeau
impressive, you guys that accomplish this challenge are my absolute heroes.
Only 7 Italians made it in the History, i dream to be in the first ten to swim it.
good luck sir
Amazing effort truely inspiring and all for an amazing cause.
I enjoyed the video except for the loud and obnoxious music that detracted from the great achievement.
Same boat I had this year, well done
Omg rlly

Attempting the swim next year. Congratulation on yours! you had the perfect support crew. Laughed hard at "it just stung me in the face" "What a b@stard, keep going"
Why is it titled “Freak Accident?”
Chris Astill-Smith I see. Anyway that’s a cool accomplishment
@@chrisastill-smith4197 I just watched a different English Channel swim and they had the boostedboyz theme song on that one too
His bloody arm gets bloody caught in the bloody boats prop ripping his arm completely bloody off, he swims on with one arm and a bloody dislocated shoulder
@@barclayyonks4390 ...funny, same thing happened to me when I did it!
Beautiful job 👏
How much swimming experience did you have beforehand? How long did the training take?
Inspiring. Well done mate.
