Who else used to put the DD2 disc in their CD player just to jam out to these bad ass tunes. I swear this game is what got me into metal music as a young kid.
Hell yea I did! Too bad I don't have my disc anymore, so i can't play the game as much as i'd love to.
Had to make sure to skip that first track on the PC disc. That was the game data and would be the worst sounds if it played.
yep same here. this is what drew me to the heavier shit as a young kid
The song "Crawl" ignited the "evil sounding music" spark in me when i was a kid... But I have to say.... the singed versions of the songs are just horrible....I don't know why did they even need a singer lol
This was basically my first encounter with metal. It wasn't until like 6 years later that I really got into metal, but it's still my first "whoa this is awesome music" moment.
I wrote lyrics to this whole album and used to sing it alone with all my rage as a teen lol
Should’ve recorded it after u were a teen would’ve been an interesting project to game soundtracks!
You sir had great taste as a teen.
Well then your a legend old bean 👌
Pretty hard core! 😂
We need to hear this
"Drivers, start your engines" - "Wow, total destruction!" - "Yeah!" - " Wo-ho-hoooooo"
I used to love the snare sound of those drums! Great game.. 90's kid will remember
my favourite song start at 16:00 - first i played this game back in 1997 on a matrox edition of this game - oh no, thats wrong - i played the DEMO on PS Demo disc - but i was always a pc gamer so i buyed the game late in 1998 on flea market for pc - its so long - can t remember exactly - before i had my first pc - we always played on the Playsstation of a freind
it has amazing crack
Often with simple, heavy, groovy music, the drummer is what makes the difference. And this guy fucking KILLS it. Awesome dynamics and great fills.
Highly aggressive and perfect for the overall sound!
Snare sound is awesome
"YOU'VE BROKEN THE REAR AXLE!!"
Feel like I heard that at every single bowl event. It still comes to my mind randomly when I'm driving.
You're just grinding metal!
Oh oh hoooooo! You're radiators fallen, you're on fire!
Roadkill!
If i owned a dragstrip or track I would play these over the loud speaker as they happened. It would be as awkward as this reply.
"Wooahohohhh you've lost a wheel!!"

ouuuuu thx
Did you use to play in Jug? 😀
This disc definitely spent more time in my cd player than in my Playstation. I still think about it from time to time, even 28 years later. 🤘 to you, Jug.
The wah, the snare, the riffs! This soundtrack is still amazing so many years later :)
29:07 The most BADASS song i've ever heard in video games.
Used to listen to this song when they pulled out my wisdom teeth when I was 14 or so. 😁 Decades ago....
indeed...
check out carmageddon 1 soundtrack🤘🏼
@@ELECTRICSCARS But this OST was written for DD2, while Carma OST was an instrumentals of already existed tracks
the 90´s were probably the most honest and true times in the history of mankind...
Uuuuhm not really
80s
Yes
@ℕ𝔼𝕆ℕ ℂ𝕀𝕋𝕐 hello bill clinton 😄
The content and BGM were all heavy and metal games.
The powerful sound of metal colliding with metal was mesmerizing.
The heavy metal game of my youth.
I was very young when I first played this, I was 6 when it came out in 96. it definitely got me into metal as I can't think of many other influences I had at that age. I sometimes used to just load up my PS1 to play the soundtrack in my room while I played with my toys n shit because I didn't even have any actual metal albums. I'm 31 now and I still come back to listen to the chugs and grooves.
This has to be one of the best soundtracks for Playstation. I cant get enough of it.
HE’S WAYYYYYYY OUT IN FRONT
Come to think of it, listening to this soundtrack when I was like 7 or 8 is probably why I was a big metalhead in my teens and now in my 20's, awesome, it explains so much
Ahhh yes. Bringing back childhood memories playing on Windows 95 or 97, whatever is was… Can remember putting the CD in my truck head banging on my way to school! How cool was it to have a video game and a metal soundtrack on one CD at the same time!?!?!?
"How much snare drum do you want?"
Yes.
I liked the first Destruction Derby, but DD2 was definitely the peak of the franchise.
Andy from Jug went on after this to do a couple of albums with the band Nothing Gained and now does producing and mixing

We need him to put this on Spotify
@@danbenfield8532 i don't think he has the original mixes from Jugg
@@DaveDoesmoviesandmusic damn that's a shame, guess I'll just have to try and find my copy of the game!
Destruction Derby 2 was my best gaming experience. And what a fuckin' soundtrack!!!
Сейчас такой качественной музыки в играх и не встретить...

Love the front cover of this game.
A time a when the only way possible to listen to music during gameplay, was to listen to what was in the game. Result: Awesome racing rock music. I remember working my ass off during summers to pay $300 for this when it came out. I was 13 at the time it was released. Before that I had been playing on a Sega Gensis. Basic game structure. This system was a major game changer.
I also remember for a while after PSX was released, not many games utilized the dual joysticks. I only remember playing one that did, a mech warrior style game.
I'm not sure what engineering went into the built-in audio controller, but sometime play a CD on your Playstation, run a line out to a receiver with speaker towers, and crank the volume. It's amazing quality. It's right up there with my all-tube Panasonic receiver, and that's saying a lot.
What's everyone's favorite songs off the game?
Favorites are "Crawl" and "Pinnacle".
And yes, I did used to just put this in my CD player and rock out to it. Major influence on getting me into harder rock.
*Old games has best Soundtracks..*
As a kid that loved to see things crash, burn and explode. I fucking loved this game.
This soundtrack/game is probably the reason why I grew up to be a metalhead.
I don’t care what anyone thinks but this is the best damn music in playstation gaming history!!!
I actually know this soundtrack more from my local speedway Archerfield. For years I've played it to go along with the racing. In fact I'm typing this right before the very last race to ever run here. So thanks for posting this great soundtrack.
Back to 97!! These songs brings me good memories!!!
São Paulo, Brazil
I literally 'discovered metal' by hearing that you could put this game into a cd player and hear music when i was like 13 or 14 years old. Thank fuck for that!
13:09 was always my favorite track *goat horns*
I'm so glad I found this! So much nostalgia 😍 this game was my life even though I was bad at it. Totally wanna try again now that I'm older. 😊
Fuckin that damn uphill spike and the choke point of Chalk Canyon. Never has there been anything better. The world had Twisted Meta. We had Jud and D D2
Gentlemen start your engine 3 2 1 Go!! He’s way out in front. WATCH IT!! Hey, go easy on the paint work. He’s grinding metal. Your radiators blown! You WRECKED Your car the race is all over!
The best race game ever!!
This band influenced my life. Deep namaste, Jug and Tuscan.
To say deeper - this was before Korn.
Blessings to the guys who played. Gem.
Loved this game, but loved the soundtrack even more. Not sure this sort of release could happen now in an era where conformity dominates. 1980s through to late 90s reigns supreme in terms of original thinking in the industry.
2019 - how does this only have 75k views? I use it to kick start my morning everyday!
I remember when you were able to put PlayStation 2 Disc (black as they were) into CD players...
Oh the good ol' days..I had no idea how good I had it!!!
For those wondering which one is the title theme and where it starts, I found it. It's Joyrider, and it starts at 32:40.
YES. Shit sounds like an old school wrestling intro
55:21 minutes of my Childhood :D
WOW WHAT A JUMP!!!
Still listening to this now while playing Wreckfest
It's a shame the band "Jug" behind the soundtrack split up shortly after doing it. I really love their riffs and think they could of made it big, oh well.
Did they ever released something ? An album or EP or .....
@@JJnesneJ Nothing was ever released, Andy who did the guitars and some vocals i believe went on to do the band Nothing Gained
@@DaveDoesmoviesandmusic Thanks for the info
@@DaveDoesmoviesandmusic I think there was an album with lyrics of these songs.
@@kuolamathere was, I found a few of those songs with lyrics on MySpace or something way back then.
What a nostalgic feeling! I learned the entire soundtrack by heart... Were my first riffs on the guitar. Tks for sharing this bro!
After so many years i can still tell the track, arena or menu to every song. Crazy....
When i was young i played this game to death.
MACSrPOO & this f#(+ing 1 Up in Death Bowl will always stay in my memories

Awesome, far-beyond coolness soundtrack... Cannot express in words truly just how great and amazing all these songs are. Even the lamest of them all is also a super-cool song!
Best Ps One game ever.
INSTRUMENTAL METAL AT ITS BESSSSST !!! ... And I simply do not care what others might say about it.
Ddik Xxelax did the Band Already exist ?
@Balakeh Exactly the same thing Carmageddon did with Fear Factory :) some more belters on that !
Some of those songs had lyrics, just not on the soundtrack.
OP you are da real MVP! Thanks for this upload...so many memories...such a powerful soundtrack!

yeh i loveed this song when this game came out, loved it then, and i wanted to listen to it now when i rememered this game, great racing game of the time.
I search this game only for this soundtrack...got me in trance when I was a kid (Jug -Joyrider)
Reminds me of Wherever I May Roam but darker
THANK YOU
That is literally the song I came here to listen to!!! So glad someone else loves it.
It sounds like something we would hear if Death itself passed through the surface onto OUR REALM.
evergreen! still listening to this today 19th Feb 2020. god bless!
Hands down greatest video game soundtrack of all time! Pumped you up for total destruction every time!
"Ripley, you've blown the transaxle! You're just grinding metal!"
Aliens reference.
Thank you very much to have posted this.
Love this game so much always gotta out the game in the CD player Jug is the best, the drummer is my inspiration for druming
rocked to this for hours, still awesome I loved the riff around 42m, good times.
My music taste today suddenly makes sense. This was my first video game ever, and I was 4.
The MEMORIES
Had the game disc in my Sony discman all the time. Just great times
Same here!! I still remember jamming to this at full blast on my dad's stereo. Make a CD from the tracks and go driving to this music.......SO MUCH FUN

Huge nostalgia goosebumps

Yes!!!! Thanks bro
great soundtrack, one of my 1st games when i had play station #2/the music synced perfectly with the game
To this day, if me and my sister see a car fucked up, we say: 'Your radiator's blowin'!' Classic shit.
Is still sometimes arbitrarily say "You're radiator's blowin" when riding shotgun in someones car
Haha! Roadkill...
oh man :) I remember a dude who rented out the apartment room I was in, with my mom, gave me a choice of any of his ps1 games as a gift, and I chose this one. Man, good times. Thanks for the upload.
wow Total Destruction!!!
Greatest soundtrack of all time.
This soundtrack with carmageddon 1 soundtrack was the shit. While playing with my action figures. Whatever you did it too... But still bangers...

This was basically a prequel to doom’s soundtrack
i was at my height of loving metal and heard this and love instantly and me too listen in cd player, i was stoked when i found out you could, i was also a drumme rback then so it appealed hard
Currently doing home office with my childhood soundtrack in the background. Totally awesome!
