Dude don't get me started. A single cell is what we evolved from? And from that to a human brain. Think of what must be going on in a brain to play this drum cover. From a single cell. Fucking hell
THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR!!!...first off this is one of the best songs EVER made and if you could do more of there songs without the backing tracks I'd be able to quit looking for band members i would just stay home and play my guitar endlessly
I should clarify. The double bass is what I was talking about and in no way was comparing drummers in any way shape or form. Nice job bro keep showing off your great talent!
I'm really impressed, I really loved your covers so I did suscribed on both of your channels, Is there any chance that could you do both Reflection and Triad? I would be inmensely grateful!
Thanks for this great feedback! I might be able to salvage the Forty-Six & Two video, but I'm not sure about Eulogy. Those were both done on iMovie (I use FCP now), and some of the older projects have been corrupted. I'm glad you like the commentary for The Grudge. I wasn't sure how useful those videos were so I haven't done one in a while. But now that I know folks like you are interested I may do more.
Amazing, You are a great cover artist man. Ive learned so much just from watching your videos. thanks for being awesome and keep up the fantastic work!!!
he really should. Now that Jon Hill's back to doing drum covers, I think it should be a race to see who can do a Stinkfist cover, since there still isn't a good or accurate one on youtube
I just rented a studio again, so there will be some new videos starting in October. And Tool is definitely in order - good idea about Stinkfist Greyy :)
So great to see you do more Tool covers! It's a real treat! Any chance of seeing a drums only video of Eulogy and Fortysix & 2? And I would kill for more Tool tutorial videos, Like you did with The Grudge. You're an inspiration to me as a drummer, Thanks for all the videos! Spiral out, Keep going! Greetings from Sweden!
Hey there! I'm not really into Tool, but after watching a few drum covers of their songs I recognised that everybody turned off the snares. Is that how Tool's drummer played? Just curious :) Extraordinary playing as always!
Yes, Danny (Tool’s Drummer) plays with the snare off a lot of the time, he also like to tune his snare up very high. ruclips.net/video/FssULNGSZIA/видео.html Listen to his snare in this video, and you’ll see what I mean.
How much bpm is it? :) And a question: Maybe I wanted to make a cover version of this song. And there is just a drumpart at the last refrain part. (after the refrain, there's the long drumpart, but I would cut it after the last refrain) so the song would be like just over 3 minutes or so. Can I use the first 1-2 minutes of your drumcover for my song? I just use it for my RUclips / Soundcloud Channel, I also would name you for the drums in the description and also at the end of the video! I also would name your channel in the description etc. If not, It's okay! I would understand it :) If it's okay, it would be great!
I'm so sick of the Mike Portnoy vs. Danny Carey argument. Yeah, Portnoy is really really talented, but Danny is probably the most intelligent drummer this side of Bonham, Ginger Baker and Bill Bruford
The human mind and body is an incredible thing
Dude don't get me started. A single cell is what we evolved from? And from that to a human brain. Think of what must be going on in a brain to play this drum cover. From a single cell. Fucking hell
Wow Im speechless🤯 This guy’s a machine!
THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR!!!...first off this is one of the best songs EVER made and if you could do more of there songs without the backing tracks I'd be able to quit looking for band members i would just stay home and play my guitar endlessly
Amazing how you keep up with the beat! Especially with the "solo". It's almost flawless! Great cover!
The whole damn song is a drum solo grand finale!! So sick!! 👍🏻👍🏻
Greater respect for drummers.I'm assuming you've probably been on drums a long time. Danny Carey tablature is probably a nightmare for newbies.
4:27 That fucking roll, amazing /O/
Oh...Hell yeah. .I was hoping you'd have this one.
marvelous!! such passion
Thanks man! Maybe some day (Reflection and Triad) :)
Johnkewdrums come on john you can do triad i believed !
Still waiting on those.
I should clarify. The double bass is what I was talking about and in no way was comparing drummers in any way shape or form. Nice job bro keep showing off your great talent!
where you been lately? missin your covers. do third eye next please? there are no johnkew quality covers of that song on the skynets
Just attempted this, this is now part of my leg day routine
Great idea having a Drums Only version of the recording. Excellent performance.
Yes! I agreeeeee! Please do a cover of Triad!
....whoa......that was so chill. Nice brah.
MASTERLY DONE!
I cant stop watching this
This is God level stuff
Thankyou, very much from the depths of my being. This has helped me more than anything as a bassest.
What a nice job! So impressed man

Absolutely beautiful, man.
Holy fucking shit, man. Insane. Loving when it comes back to 4:24, very emotional part of the song.
That would be awesome, thank you!
Amazing!!!!!! Awesome job!!!!
Amazing, You are a great cover artist man. Ive learned so much just from watching your videos. thanks for being awesome and keep up the fantastic work!!!
This made my day thx dude!
Awesome how your videos are getiing 20,000+ hits now John. Kudos :)
Thanks man, and yes, Danny Carey often plays with his snare off.
YES!!!! PLEASE!!!!
WELL DONE!
this should have more views
excelent work
kudos
hey man, I know you are busy and all but do another Tool song.
he really should. Now that Jon Hill's back to doing drum covers, I think it should be a race to see who can do a Stinkfist cover, since there still isn't a good or accurate one on youtube
I just rented a studio again, so there will be some new videos starting in October. And Tool is definitely in order - good idea about Stinkfist Greyy :)
johnkew Fuck yeah man! don't stop posting the drum only versions either! love watching them after the cover haha :)
Really fun cover; why did you omit the first 1/3 of the song, though?
So great to see you do more Tool covers! It's a real treat!
Any chance of seeing a drums only video of Eulogy and Fortysix & 2?

Greetings from Sweden!
That's really nice, keep it up man.
That one sound from 1:49-1:50, where did it come from?
Kaze Araki you can see there are electronic drumpads
He hits a tom right at that mark
Are you talking about the tabla drum pad?
@@daslynnter9841 He’s talking about that pingy sound before he hits the Tom. 1:50
@Kaze Araki I’m guessing it was either a trigger or one of his pads, I think it was a pad, but idk
Your snare is one of the best i've ever heard! Do you use rim shots?
Thanks - I do use rim shots most of the time. The DW performance snare does a lot of work though with that beefy sound.
How much did that snare cost? Because, DW are normally really expensive.
Fucking Killer. I absolutely love this
Hi there. No, I played over the original track.
WoW!
What part of the song are you starting on? Hard to tell.
I think you should just do Tool songs! On a serious note, these really help my learning. Any Chance you'd do Lateralus?
Hey there! I'm not really into Tool, but after watching a few drum covers of their songs I recognised that everybody turned off the snares. Is that how Tool's drummer played? Just curious :)

Which vst are you using por the pads?

Christopher's Journey just use it. You will get his attention/answer when or if he has a problem with it
@2:34 going into a kick ass groove
You've earned a subscriber in me. Fucking fantastic.
Thank you man
4:27... damn thats a sound
craigggo22 that fill there is just so perfect
Hi! Did you play on a drumless track?
I hate to be one of 'those' guys, but could you someday maybe do a cover of Rosetta Stoned? That would rock so hard.
Hi John, How long did it take you to master the tabla section ?
didnt master it in my opinion. good but not mastered.
Damn. And here I thought I knew how drums worked.
That Paiste china cymbal...
Superb. Actually someone on RUclips who could fill in if DC had a bad case of the $#|=s and they needed a sub to play live at a moment's notice.
the part in 1:13 is fucking amazing.
its sounds great u should do the track with the guitar in it
omg the 4 minute mark
damn though...
I'm so sick of the Mike Portnoy vs. Danny Carey argument. Yeah, Portnoy is really really talented, but Danny is probably the most intelligent drummer this side of Bonham, Ginger Baker and Bill Bruford
3:30-3:35 sounds similar to Alex Van Halen's "Hot For Teacher".
I don’t really hear that, but we all hear things differently.
647th like 77th comment
4:27 therrre it is, that look that says "goddammit Danny Carey, WTF"
Is it just me or is the fill at 4:28 kinda off? Great drumming anyways
