I had a friend that used to be really into doing model cars he taught me a couple a little tricks I never thought of he used to make seat belts out of masking tape and then paint them all up and put them in the car he would also heat the bottom of the wheels up in a skillet so they smash out a little bit it makes it look like the tires actually have air in them in the car has weight it's not just sitting on top of round plastic tires and he would detail the windows so it looks like the windshield wipers have actually ran across the window you know what I'm talkin about where you see the part where the windshield wiper hasn't cleaned it and it's hazier just a little bit those little tiny things like that make a big difference

Just pointing out a mistake in this build, the Toyota Corolla Sprinter Trueno GT-APEX AE86's 4AGE engine head cover is supposed to have a frost white coat with blue lettering, they were nicknamed 'Bluetops'. It is the first generation 4AGE engine, followed by 'Redtops', 'Silvertops' and lastly 'Blacktops'.

although a great video, unfortunately that 86 has the incorrect engine. The 86 in the later seasons of initial D did not have that 16 valve engine, rather it had been swapped out with a race-spec silvertop 4AGE with 20 valves (correct me if i'm wrong), it'd be more accurate if the 20V had been used instead of that 16 valve engine
Ik this is late but Yea this model kit is for season one spec. There are other kits with the different parts such as the bucket seats and different engine

6:11 why the tachometer is at 8000 rpm max? Takumi got a carbon hood after upgrading his tachometers to 11000 rpm and btw Takumi's AE86 got black windows but you have do a nice work.
this is before the upgrades, he shouldn't have painted the hood black, also one small detail takumi has wind deflectors, also when he got the tach and the hood he got a seat as well because bunta injured himself while driving.

Squishy. The carbon fibre bonnet is installed halfway into the 4th season, the bucket seat and racing engine is installed in the 2nd season.

Also that engine is inaccurate. The red top implies it's a small port which Takumi never had. He had the earlier big port engine

You have to take out the masking tape befor the paint is dry to avoid pealing
