This is such valuable information. What a shame hospitals, or trauma and orthopaedic departments don't link this into discharge notes. I felt vulnerable, fragile and quite frankly really worried about the way the hospital described me on my discharge notes - I was not the person they described before my accident and I didn't think I was when I was an inpatient. I was classified by my age, the fact that I'd broken my femur and that I lived alone. There was no reference to the fact that I spent 8 hours on the floor waiting for an ambulance! The whole experience had the effect of making me feel very anxious and depressed about my future. Ten weeks on, no longer being on hip restrictions, driving and becoming social again I've done a lot of my own research and I'm now feeling much more positive.
I’m three months on from my hip fracture and so thankful that I found your wonderful presentation. You answered so many of the questions that I still had, and after a very tearful day, thinking that ‘normal’ life was over for me, you’ve given me hope that I will get better.
I’m 56 and my first gal and broken hip. I agree regarding a wake up situation. I’ve never felt pain like this. I’m so amazed that barely a month later I’m so much better. Still some pain but I can tolerate it
Thank you for all your advice. I will recommend this to many of my friends as at this moment I'm suffering from a broken 💔 hip due to a fall.your advice is so very helpful thank you so very very much..May God bless you ❤ from sim
Give me good information thank you . Surgery 5 weeks ago 81 years old no problem at all. Ok I’m fit like a 50 years man but sport has a risk I know it know.
Thank for this it’s been a tremendous help I’ve had to fly out to Spain to look after my mother who sadly fell and fractured her right hip. She’s doing ok but she’s overweight and finding it hard getting around . I understand that she needs a high protein diet , I’m on a high protein diet due to having bariatric surgery I add collagen protein powder to my porridge to help get extra protein in would I be able to add the collagen powder to my mother porridge on a morning . I really want to help her get better and follow a good diet to help with her recovery. Many thanks Anthea Lawn

im 42 yrs old and its been 7 momths since i fractured my hip. Is it normal to still have more than normal pain and feel something clicking where i had surgery?
Pain is the key to rehab, no one can really describe or get across their pain and I think that the battle between Clinicians and Patients is a constant minefield that is unnecessary conflict. There should be no pain and that is the point when the relief is working The How is your pain from 1 to 10 question is ridiculous because of the subjective nature of pain Why is the medical professional so reluctant to admit that it is just potluck as to whether it works or not and the patient knows when it works, most of the time they are not listened to or it's not part of the treatment plan, so does not exist?

I'm 14 months along and determined to get fitter and stronger than I was before. This was a wake up call.

No information here on no weight bearing after hip pinning.
What about the loneliness as you don't want to socialize with anyone?

I'm only 48 years old and I broke my hip too and that wasn't fun ar all
Why do people die from hip fracture? Is it people giving up on life?
