These ships have been around in the game for over 5 years, so it comes to no surprise they have been overly power crept up until today which is also why there are plenty of alternatives. (Don't be cut)
Retrofit is typically associated with improvements, yet this upgrade is nothing of the sort.
in-game, BBV's are just not worth the refit; their primary source of damage is from the main guns, however, they are nerfed for a sort of carrier deck that doesn't allow for anything more than floatplanes.
However, real life is another story! These hybrids were somewhat successful in their operations!

turns out having half your ship be a flight deck and half not, does not mean you can have half as many aircraft, because the planes still need the same amount of runway to take off, and still all have to be stored somewhere.
Hull improvement is key
Aviation Battle are kind of a weird group in itself. There aren't really THAT many BBV's still. But we need ALSO CONSIDER the PR BBV, Kearsarge, & the SSSGridman ship, The 2nd. As those two aren't retrofits in any way. So I'm not sure how those two change things enough or not.
Practicality is their central issue. But even that is hard for me to figure out. Since I've only got Fusou & Yamashiro through retrofits. Haven't done Ise's nor Hyuuga yet.
And I have gotten Kearsarge through PR. And lastly, got the 2nd from the Gridman Collab event.

But still we need some SSV (Aviation Submarine) like
IJN I-400
HMS M2
and then there’s the voluptuous Chen Hai who is condemned to using sea planes as a CVL 😿
Just want to know, where can I get the sea planes things for BBVs? I retrofit Fusou bc i didn't have the other 3 ships and i don't know where to get it
make them in the Sakura Empire section of the gear lab, or the one seiran from the monthly core shop. (for submarines but it can go on the BBV)

They might be weak, but they have something unique from the retrofit.
In my opinion, the worst retrofit belongs to Charles Ausburne.
I really want them to be good.
Historically it was actually better (it wasn’t going to change the course of the war, but desperation and stuff)
But a 2D side scroller gacha game can’t really translate the reasons why it was a retrofit well
That being said, the only one technically not worth retrofitting is Hyuuga, the rest can do better with their retrofits, in certain cases
But Hyuuga is not only the best rare BB that exists, but will always be a good-great flagship option
(it’s worth it even if it means kicking a ship like Hood out to another spot)
Until you get UR’s but Azur Lane is not balanced well in any kind of way so...
