Video-very informative.... I can't understand partially compensated acidosis...if both the values (pco2 n hco3) either high or low, how to identify whether it is respiratory or metabolic????
When pH is low, ie., Acidosis and both pCO2, HCO3 are high. High HCO3 should result in alkalosis not acidosis. But if HCO3 is high and pH is acidotic, it means the excess HCO3 are compensating for excess pCO2, so partially compensated Respi Acidosis. So if HCO3 and pCO2 are high but pH is acidotic, it's partially compensated Respi Acidosi
Hallo sir,,very nice video as always....but still waiting for part 2...where yu ll help us with compensated & uncompensated part... Thank yu in advance sir🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Hi Uzair. No, its not based on which value is more. it's actually based on, in which direction is it moving. If you see in example 7, as pH is 7.33 so it is ACIDOSIS (ph
o yes.. was making a silly mistake there.. i dint thought of HCO3 high means alkalosis so it cant be possible in your given example.. i used to follow a formula which is always right if simple acid base question.. its called same same metabolic.. if ph n hco3 in same direction is metabolic if different direction is respiratory.. and just check pH to know if its acidosis or alkalosis.. but with this i had abit of problems with more complicated questions.. anywho thanks for the great explanation, really love the way you explain in your videos like 10min ecg video.
oh..Thats amazing !!! Good to know, that u now understood the concept..Initially I was about to put that mnemonic ROME (respiratory-opposite direction, metabolic-equal/same direction) in my video which u are talking about..but in some cases, it'll complicate the thing..so that's why, always use the concept in ABG.. and not to just mug up the cases..U'll for sure can interpret any damn ABG.. Again thnx a lot for appreciating my work on this video as well ECG video..All good comments from my viewers keep me motivated to keep uploading good stuff on my channel.. Do share these videos with ur medico friends.. Thank you!!!
7. Think COPD, retainer of Co2. pH is still low though Cor is high, Kidney converts co2 to HCO3 , when fully compensated both will remain above normal. 8. HCO3 very low and pH low. Think Diabetic Coma. H ions have to be blown off by converting to Co2.. H+HCO3-->h2cO3--> H2O + CO2. Hope this helps or else I can explain further.

for partially compensation you landed on either resp acid or meta acidosis based on which value (co2 or hco3) is more deranged right?

In examples 7 and 8
How did you tell whether it was respiratory or metabolic when both values pco2 and hco3 were abnormal
Pls explain
