There should be a note here. Not all buildings use the same materials. Even in vanilla sometimes while it is pained with concrete or brick textures it sometimes is just wood. Taking a moment to walk around and punch the supports is always a wise idea so you don't get surprised. This goes double for modded POIs were some are over built with painted 5000 hp blocks and others are tissue paper all depending on the builders whim. Rule of thumb NEVER trust what a block in a POI looks like.
This is great information! Me and my wife are playing on a private server and our hoard base recently just got messed up. We managed to beat the hoard but at great cost to the base through demolishers. I don't see the point in repairing it seeing as it's just failed a horde night. I need something to allow us to survive the next 7th day whilst I build a much grander horde base for the future. This content was great as it's shown me that we can survive on a rooftop for a few horde nights. We're at a similar gamestage as you show here. I feel sorry for my little base, she did so well up until around stage 200. The real kicker is they got into my crafting area and destroyed my forges. Tens of thousands of resources gone.
All this time building bases and this works better! Damn man, that's crazy. I mean, I knew this would work but I don't give it a thought during my normal playthroughs. I always build a base of some kind. That was a cool video. I love the different angle views during the horde night explosions. Nice editing to get this down to 5 minutes! Cheers!
the good thing about using poi's is u dont need to build or repair anything... a good thing to do is go around a city getting rid of ways up to roofs for multiple buildings and putting ladders up the sides... if anything goes wrong on one building u just jump down and go to another roof as a back up
@@kingofthezeds have u ever used water in a base? i noticed that they walk quite slowly thru shallow water... might make it easy to get headshots? i had screamers and fell into this cave with shallow water and kept running back & forth between land areas & water & found it relatively easy to outrun the zombies and shoot them as they came back thru the water
i do this all the time.. especially early game when i dont have enough resources to build an actual horde base.. i usually wait til i can make lots of concrete before i start making a horde base
I’ve been roof jumping for a long time in this game. It’s so simple and I only waste a little ammo if any. I always build a base but don’t fight hoards after the 3rd or 4th hoard night. Later on I might build something but not usually. I’m more into exploring and scavenging.
I'm day 42 or something and totally forgot about horde night and did the hole thing on a 3 block high concrete wall in the middle of a town in the waste land. I feel like it was never that easy in a17
Well I'd grab one of those mission poi's because I like to loot get a good weapon or book and if it's destroyed I can have it rebuilt by starting up that poi :)
1:10 - You'd be in trouble if you couldn't make it after taking that last ladder piece! :D I'm new to the game, not done my first Horde night yet. I assume, I HOPE, I won't be facing that many Zed's my first time, with just a bow, club and knife!?
@@TheEyez187 yeah absolutely it does! each level allows for falling from higher heights without injury. Also if you can find that bracing mod thing for your boots, AND parkour, you'll be sweet.

Yeah thats a good observation, thanks for your comment!

Glad to have given you a backup option for your base!
Its good to have this in your back pocket 😁

Haha i know, right!? Ive been doing it wrong all this time 🤣
You have saved me! I was tired of building for horde night after the first night already. Now I can go freestyle do what ever I want. Thnak you.

Yeah for sure, it would be cool to have a whole town set up this way just ready to go on horde night!

And, you can reset the POI by doing a Tier 4 quest from the trader.
Great point!!
And you get the T4 lootbonus for every lootbag that drops withing the confines of the POI

you should do a series on this and test out which pois can handle the pressure of day 7000 hoards with no building upgrades
Yeah i like that… *hits Record* 😄
This even works in Darkness Falls for the early hordes (like 7-21, probably, depending on difficulty).
Nice! Might test it in rebirth too
If you do more these, it would be nice to see the structural stability once its done to see how close you came to collapse
thanks for the suggestion, I'll definitely do that (or try to remember anyway lol)! Cheers

some of the buildings are so strong no horde will take them down. better to be safe than sorry! :D

I'm definitely doing this every single time. My hord base isn't ready
This is a great backup while you build!
Did you notice the rabbit stuck on the cash register? I thought first it was some decor until his head turned.
Haha yeah i did see it right after the point where that clip ends… tasted good 🤣

haha yeah that's why I always go for Parkour as soon as possible! Being able to jump higher has got me out of so many scrapes its unbelievable 🤣
