I think I prefer the 6.0 system. Mainly because you said the presentation mark which is 50% of the free skate is equal to the technical mark which is 50% of the free skate. We all know now that the skaters with the ultra jumps crush the artistic skaters when it comes to the free skate. And the skaters with the ultra jumps also get very big PCS mark's which is dubious to say the least.

I would like to see them revisit the weight of the PCS because it’s no longer equal in weight to the TES in IJS. I feel like that needs attention.
@ The technical scores have overwhelmed the PCS scores and that needs to change otherwise beautiful artistic skaters who can barely score a 190 points will never have a future in lady's figure skating. It's also frustrating for me to see quad queens without great skating skills get massive pcs scores. It's just not fair. I would like to see them try a 6.0 system again on the lower level somewhere. But it will probably never happen

U.S. Figure Skating does use 6.0 for Compete USA, Pre-Preliminary, Preliminary, and Pre-Juv. IJS begins at the Juv level.
I especially don't understand why the presentation part of the score is multiplied by 2 for men, but only by 1.6 for women and pairs. I suspect if you changed it to 2.0 across the board you smooth out a lot of the issues women skating has currently. Although I suspect the judges are bribed by the Russians anyway so the winners might not change.

Thanks Aimee!! Love your videos!! It’s very informative especially as a new skater mom… saves time from googling and reading and figuring it all out.
I’m so happy to hear that!!! That’s what I’m trying to do!!! Glad that I’m able to help!!!

@ That's phenomenal I wish more figure skating federations with would use the 6.0 system on the lower levels.

great video. it was all getting clear untill the A B C points changed to ordinals. you lost me there.
Glad it helped! I know that it's confusing! I do my best to make it easier to understand but it's complicated!
