@ShepperdOneill I know it has been a few years on this - thank you for the information! If I wanted to instance the whole assembly and have it follow the same target, would that be possible? Say a plane flying overhead and both turrets follow it's motion, but one is an instance of the original (or even a cloner with a lot of them)?
I never looked at the rotations that close. Sounds fundamental but I think no one is paying enough attention(Maybe the riggers are) about this. It's really a good subject. Thanks.
Hey Sheppard, Just wanted to let you know, at 8:00 you're not using the native constraint as intended, you need to select the constraint tag, then select the Basic tab, check on "Up", this will create a new tab called "Up-Vector", this is where you need to put your "Up" null.

I have been beating my head against a wall trying to install the CD Tools and Bridge into C4Dr21. I've tried everything and I cannot get r21 to recogonize these plug ins. PLEASE HELP.
Not sure if you've been able to solve this by now, but I was just able to install the CD tools in R21, here's what I did - Make a new folder within your C4D plugins folder with the two bridge files from insydium. You can then simply drop the CD plugin folders into the new folder and C4D should recognize them in R21.

Hi Shepperd, Awesome tutorials. Your explanations are very clear and to the point. Everything works fine in R21 with the same (buggy/odd) behavior as you demonstrated for the native tools. Doesn't look like anything has been changed. However, in both R20 and R21 all of Cactus Dan's tools are in one long list. They do not follow the sub-folder structure of the plugin and as it shows in your videos, which makes it hard to visually scan and apply. Any idea how to make the nested folder structure show up properly? Thanks!
Hi Judah! I was not able to get the CD Tools to work in R21. Did you do anything special to get them to work? If I can get them to work with R21 on my end, I'll see if I can find a solution to your problem. As of right now, I can only get them to work with R18.
Hi Shepperd. I just copied them into the folder that links from the Edit > Preferences... dialogue at the bottom. c:/Users/**username*/AppData/Roaming/Maxon/**C4D Installation**/plugins. They won’t show up in the Program Files directory under plug-ins. And I placed the 2 INSYDIUM bridge files into the root level of the “CD Tools” folder. While I was writing this I decided to try an experiment and so I took the INSYDIUM files and copied them into each of the sub folders and moved those all up to the root level. That works for the most part, however not all the folders show up in Cinema. So I’m thinking that only some of the tools work in R20 and R21. I’ll keep you updated as I work through your tutorials. :)
Hi Judah. Thanks for letting me know. I also have tried to use the Insydium bridge files, but I was not able to get them to work. I tried both locations, (plugins folder in the "Program Files", and also the plugins folder in the "preferences" like you listed). Currently running R21.115.

Yes, you are correct! I was thinking that maybe by shift-selecting (as I did with the CD plugin) it would automatically include the up vector.

They do, but you need the Bridge plugin from Insydium to make them work.

@@simontrickfilmer CD-Tools currently only works for R14 - R20. It does not work for R21. I'm hoping that Insydium will update it.

The eyes should be a child of the head object so that they rotate when the head is moved.

The axis of the housing needed to be rotated so that it would spin around its Z axis.
Thanks for the tute. I'm ssing CD Tools in R20 and they work better than C4D contraints (redraw issue). Hope CD Tools will be updated to R21...
