- This weekend’s Singapore Grand Prix could be pivotal to this year's championship with both titles so close with just seven races left. The Marina Bay Street Circuit is notorious for messing with the established order as the incredibly bumpy track surface often means the most competitive cars struggle. It was the only race that Red Bull didn’t win last year and this year, Max Verstappen is saying he will be lucky to make Q3. The build up to the weekend has focused around the McLaren rear wing and the FIA’s response has infuriated drivers. And a statement from Mohammed Ben Sulayem has angered Lewis Hamilton due to the racist undertones of what he said. Today, I’ll be checking out why the F1 drivers are so angry at the FIA this weekend, so don’t go anywhere.

Mclaren has been told to remove the rear wing by the FIA. Apparently, Red Bull submitted 3 official complaints, and Ferrari backed them up.
On the swearing thing. Max Verstappen got called to the stewards for swearing in a press conference, which I quoted in the video. They gave him community service for being a very naughty boy.
Glad that wing was banned. The punishment to Max is absolutely ridiculous though. The FIA needs a new president who actually lives in the real world, not some fantasy in his head. 🙄

Swearing is boradcasted but is also bleeped out. Adults still know what being said as they will use that word in that situation if they were placed into it.
But it not just in F1 were spot people swear. Take football, you can't hear what the player are saying, due to the fan noise, but if you read their lips you can see they are Swearing at each other when things on going there way.
I hope Max is allowed to continue cursing.. if the car is Fuxked, Max should call it as he sees it

I love you Lewis, but that was a completely ridiculous comment. Even if I don’t agree with what the FIA prez said, there was ZERO mention or connotation of race in his statement. So what, just saying “rapper” is racist now? Give me a break. Stop looking for excuses to be offended.

FIA need to do one, and stop interfering with F1. The sport does not need an outside governing body to promote itself, and to be honest without F1, would the FIA really be needed in any other noticeable motorsports series...probably not.

I think it is extremely racist of lewis hamilton to think that rap is a black thing. The best rapper in the world is Tom Macdonald, a white guy. The Guinness Book of World Records says the two titles for most words per second and the most words in a song both go to eminem, another white guy. So maybe educate yourself lewis on urban culture, it maybe hard from your ivory towers.

@@1997thanos that rear wing passed the FIA's tests and was therefore considered legal, upon review of further data and evidence, the FIA feels that McLaren does not have enough control of how much the wing flexes - so it would not be considered legal by the FIA technical department in the future.
@@1997thanos Let's blame McLaren's fall from grace on the media who called it a "mini DRS", which opened the floodgates, pardon the pun. DRS and its use is strictly regulated. If that wing was designed to autonomously open the DRS flap under load, even just a few millimeters, then that's a big NO-NO.
Pretty much straight forward decision, the FIA didn't even have to resort to some ludicrous "rules acrobatics" as they did in the case of Renault's genius mass damper in 2006. ;)
That’s very clever technology. Where the wing opens up under certain load and provides auto-drs. Returning to its original position when the car slows down for corners and needs downforce again.
Sulayem is probably the worst choice for FIA president and telly you everything you need to know about how middle east money has influenced F1 trying to sanitise everything and having so many races in their home countries where traditionally motorsport is not well understood or enthused about.
He should be replaced with a person with a less slanted world view the growth for F1 is in other developing markets really.

It is my belief that Gene Haas employs a mole at the FIA and thus found out at the start of the season that swearing was going to be banned; hence the departure of Der Guenther. 😄

You were right, I double checked. Back in the 60s and 70s when I was younger they were saying that mostly less educated people cursed more because the didn't have the ability to articulate as well, and had to resort to a more base communication.

I find it distasteful, disrespectful, and most importantly unprofessional. And I think that last one is the most important. When you’re the league that’s looked at with the most eyes, you need to potentially find a neutral ground of music. MOST rap songs aren’t that. THERE ARE GREAT MAINSTREAM and not so mainstream rap music that is great, inoffensive, professional(ehhhhh) idk man

I was an ardent fan of F1 for decades until Abu Dhabi, 2021. The sport has floundered and nose-dived since Mohammed Ben Sulayem has been President. The Abu Dhabi debacle and subsequent treachery of Mercedes and others is unforgivable, F1 has become a mockery, I can no longer have faith in F1s honesty. It was not just Michael Masi in the frame but also Wolff, Bono, and F1. Business and sport are strange bed-fellows, money corrupts, and corrupts completely. These problems remain systemic, and will continue to be so.
I will be boycotting the Singapore GP. The gap has increased. It can only increase in gap by mm not cm.

If FIA rules are based on static tests, then why shouldn't engineers find a ways to improve performance that still satisfy the rules? Any rule that states all aero components must be completely rigid is ridiculous! Everything flexes somewhat in the wind and in bumps. Nothing is completely rigid in such a dynamic environment.

Mohammed Ben Sulayem is always loitering in Parc fermé next to the scales after the race an forcing himself upon the drivers as they get off the scales. What is his role and why is he there? I find it creepy and almost pereditory-like.
Of course, Max Verstappen should receive a penalty for swearing, he was under no pressure and he knew youngsters were watching the show, he is world champion, and they look up to him as a role model. Also the way he’s handling now it is just like a spoilt kid. Ask yourself the question, if you were in a restaurant with your children and the person on the next table was using foul language at the top of his voice, would you tell them to shut up? In Germany and the Netherlands what English speakers call curse words are just words used all the time my mom was German and my grandparents had a cat the pooped on my cousin the named her Scheißila (this might be miss spelled) which translates to little shit we would call this name all the time when I was just 8 people though the name was just funny
