- Kyoto Tachibana High School Marching Band comes to Kauai and Plays at Kukui Grove Center today... Filmed on a droid phone and edited on the phone. Didn't even expect this was at mall paying cell bill... So i just started to record..
The music arrangement is great. Some of which are still use in more recent years. Well done Kyoto Tachibana 👏👏
This group of young people are amazing playing that music is hard enough (iknow i was in a silver band) and the dance is energetic enough but to do both together is just on the very top level possible
no wonder they steal every show /parade they do

this is the stanards that others can only hope to meet the best high school band ever long may they carry on
Oh my.... I don't how many piece did they played... imagine memorize all of those on one perfomance and each one they have different dance steps... amazing stamina...

In my book, "best in the world." Do a little research on RUclips (which is FILLED with Tachibana videos) and see how good they get on a larger stage. Their signature song, Sing Sing Sing, will knock you over.
Absolutely the best high school band in the world every time I watch them they conduct yourself is beautiful balance. They are not Wearing their orange uniform but this uniform Fit perfect.

Watch their practice videos. After school, they practice for a very very long time.
Practice schedule: M-F: 7AM-8:30AM before school, then 4-7PM after school. 6 hours on Saturdays, 11 hours on Sunday. I'm also assuming a few hours are in there for indoor band practice as well. Then you have normal school classes and homework. Any further questions?

You may not see her but you definitely hear the powerful Yuina Mita leading the percussion section. She participated in both 2012 and 2018 Rose Parades. She has recently formed the group "O-Vils" comprised of KT SHS alumnae.
Video was blurry but was that Yuina at about 1.00 far row on a snare drum? Hard to believe she is now early 30's and married with a daughter. And still belting those drums! Saw a great little video last year somewhere - Yuina on a keyboard and Chippi on the drums. Both are multi skilled!
@@rossphillips5916 Chippi has been playing the piano and performing in recitals since she was 3 years old. As for which one of the percussionists is Mita-san, I think you are right. She is on snare, the furthest back next to the wall. The one sporting the white "tachibana blossom" ribbon. At first I doubted whether my original statement was correct, because none of the percussionists in this blurry video resembled her from her student festival Water Stage appearance a few weeks later in September 2010. However, if you look at her appearance at Izumo Dome during the same time, it's reasonable to conclude that the snare drummer furthest back in this video is probably Mita-san. (See 8:31 in this Izumo Dome brass band competition for a great shot of Mita-san's vivacious drumming and compare to the snare drummer: ruclips.net/video/LHFgscJXMW4/видео.html
@@bellesogne Yes, that is the Yuina we know and love in the attached link. Probably my favorite video featuring her and Chippi was Disneyland in the 2017/18 visit. When they stopped and turned side on to play Sing3 there were some closeups of those smiles that lit Disneyland up like twin suns. Be great if they showed up again at the Rose Parade coming up soon.

Winter Games was played by the Atlanta Olympic Band in 1996. That was the piece played around the 2 - 4 minute mark.

They practice every day (school holidays included). 7 days a week. They practice for 4 hours on weekdays and 8 hours on weekends.
"There are MANY fantastic high school marching bands." Watch them do Sing Sing Sing or It Don't Mean A Thing If It Ain't Got That Swing, and then try telling me how any other bands in the world can both play while very vigorously dancing. Just one!

A top 10 for the nolan sisters who were very big in the uk in the 1970s
was at this performance in Kauai...random one of the three days we were there. EPIC. blows my mind. As a high school band director, i want to do this with my band...but there is NO WAY.
LOL! I can only imagine a band director such as you reacting to seeing these kids in action. I never played in a band, but it doesn't take much imagination to understand how massively difficult it is to both play AND dance as they do, particularly with wind instruments. This particular show, where they pretty stand in place while playing, does not do justice to how good they are.

hey, great news!! This is so amezing, they were selected to perform in the 2012 Rose Parade.
They has been honored with an invitation to participate in the 123rd Annual Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California on Monday, January 2, 2012.
And 6 years later for the 2018 show.
and still this band goes marching on with todays generation of players

It also became a model of animation.
Choreography is studied by students.
A teacher is one thing. The question is: do YOU have the guts, drive, and stamina to practice over 30 hours per week, including weekends, to get to their level?
@@demef758 teacher is often the key part of it all. Students often put their all, but withouth a good guidance you can have passionate people and no results.
Beacon if you visit the fan blog, The kids teach each other. The philosophy of seniors-juniors-freshmen instilled respect to their older peers. A concept rare outside Japanese culture. The adults only come into the picture occasionally to guide them for major competitions.

A couple of observations, there must be a lot of talented teenagers in Japan, when do they have time to study, their uniform bill must be enormous, their travel bill must also be huge, their parents must be so proud of the accomplishments they've had, and curious as to why there's so few boys in the band.
This high school was a girls' high school for nearly 100 years.
Boys usually join sports clubs in Japan, not music clubs. All music bands there are 90 percent or more girls.
This has got to be one of the earliest of all the KT band videos on RUclips.... Most of the ones on here were after the 2018 Rose Bowl parade and a few from the 2012 parade....

Non si capisce perchè l'operatore ha interrotto per due volte l'esecuzione che le ragazze eseguono in maniera straordinaria; per un attimo Yuina si è vista col suo rullante passare rasente al muro. Quando le ragazze si schierano all'interno , il secondo clarinetto in terza fila è la D.M. che prenderà il posto di Hoara-san. 🎵🎶 Grande musica , grande Yuina che non si vede......ma si sente !!
