  • Set your clocks early to catch the best fishing this month! The Shad spawn happens across a lot of the country right now. When the water temps get in the upper 60’s the Shad spawn gets going. Swimming a white jig is my favorite all around way to catch ‘em this month!
    For any of the gear I use all season long you can get it here: www.basspro.co...

    Ott, I fish my home lake, Elephant Butte Lake, in New Mexico. We are not allowed to fish around the marina but there is a long water break made from truck tires. Any suggestions for fishing the break?

    Ott I live on Ky. Lake/Tn River and some guys fish the Shell/Muscle Shell spawn. Have you fished it or do you have any knowledge on it to share?? I never realized they move as much as they do, heck I thought they just laid where they lay. But you can clearly see their tracks at winter pool. Really thank you for sharing your knowledge to all of us and love the Crankbait build videos!!! Thx and God Bless

    Mr Ott- It was so cool to get to meet you at LOZ Meet n Greet ! Thank you for the time you gave everyone and for signing my baby girl’s tacklebox and my cap. It was awesome that later on I got a pic with you and Mr VanDam with my little girl together.
    I recently watched where you had a chat with Mr Edwin Evers over a game of pool. I love that you mention your Faith and that you have a Bible verse on your fishing jersey.
    Very Cool 😎👍
    Best of luck to you brother.
    My little girl and I will remember that day for a long long long time.
    Thank You,
    Matt in Mizzurah

    The half oz is an interesting choice for skipping, not what some recommend but I can see where it would help with the speed, thanks!$$$

      It would work great from the bank. I’ve got one from Bass Pro with chains and a rope that does good.

    One thing that pros like to say is "put your bait where others cant" i think for the most part we all can put our baits there. What they should say is "learn to put your bait where you want it because your competitors can" Andy is very good at skipping docks but at his level 80% of the field is just as good.

    One thing I like to do when the shad spawn is going on is throw a white frog even if it’s not around grass or wood. Just a week ago me and my dad was fishing rock and a few bass was chasing shad we threw everything I grabbed my white frog made 5 cast caught a 4 and then a 3 pounder

    Hey Ott! Being we fish the same type of rivers I have to ask have you had much success fishing a swim jig in the river? I don’t know what it is but I can’t get any of the smallmouth to commit! Water is fairly clear as most rivers? I don’t get it I can catch them on a 1/2oz Spinnerbait but I have a hard time catching them on a swim jig! I can literally throw a spinnerbait and a swim jig with the same skirt and trailer and they will not eat the swim jig? So I have shied away from throwing them on the river! I don’t get it I have tried different weights trailers and all sort of retrieves and nothing I can even catch them on a Chatterbait just seems like they would crush a swimjig? Just curious how you fish them if you do in the river

    • @OttDeFoeFishing
      @OttDeFoeFishing  2 года назад +1

      It is weird. I would shorten the trailer as much as possible. Also thin the weed guard a lot.

      @@OttDeFoeFishing Thanks that’s about the only thing I haven’t done! There isn’t much grass where I am fishing them I did consider just taking the weed guard off completely? I am mainly fishing open water just target casting and I am in my Kayak so if it did get snagged I could easily get it unhung. I am hitting the water early in the morning. I am going to have a white one tied on I will come back and let you know how it works out!! Thanks again

      @hookedupoutdoors2315 2 года назад

      @@OttDeFoeFishing I wish I could post pictures I smashed them today!! The only thing I can think was that the weed guard was spooking them? Because I completely removed it and it was game on I also had to reel it pretty fast!! But when they got it it was game on!! Thanks for the help.
