About 15 years ago in real life I got to copilot a King Air from the right seat quite often, and recently I wondered how the autopilot controls could be managed in X-Plane 11. This video is marvelous, first and foremost to set and activate autopilot parameters without drama, but there's so much more and it is so sensibly conveyed. Thank you!
I have been struggling to use the autopilot in the King Air - this video of confit tips and then a demo of how you use this confit in an actual flight is super helpful - thanks for putting this together!
I am new to XP11. Thank you very much, this is one of the most useful video to this plane. Until now, it was a nightmare to fly with, even with my TrackIr.
I really like this video. It sure would it be nice to have xplane offerupgraded avionics on the flight deck. That said having the key binds is just a game leveler.
Nicely done. Just picked up the King Air 350 but seems it does not like Vulcan for some reason so figured I'd try the C90 until that gets worked out since they have a lot in common. Why the EFIS panel does not pop out is a mystery and makes it real hard to learn how to fly the plane having to pop back and forth. Even with the custom view which I have setup. These other nifty tricks should make it a lot easier. Can't wait to give them a go. Thanks for the video mate.
Thanks for your comment! :-) The 350 does look really nice. Vulkan has given me quite a bit of extra performance and I don't think I could switch back now so I hope that gets sorted!
@@finlayc Yep Vulcan definitely gave us all a boost on that account and I am sure they will get the bugs worked out soon enough. I am actually thinking about getting the B200 now. The 350 is a Study Sim level plane. I had no idea what that meant when I purchased it. It is over the top detailed for sure. But it is severely lacking in the documentation area. I think I bit off more than I can chew having just got into X-Plane. I have the Cessna 172 down, but it's about a boring as you can get plane. Anyway, nice work and keep it up. :)
Quick question. How to make the plane follow your flight path in GPS mode, I have turned the Garmin 530 to gps and hit the nav button but the plane does not follow it. Please help
In X-Plane you can assign custom views to the numbers on the numeric keypad. Move the mouse and zoom in until you have a good view of the autopilot. Then press Ctrl and 2 (or any other number) to assign the view to numeric keypad number 2. Move your view around again (or press w to reset to the default forward-looking view) and if you press 2 on the numeric keypad the view will jump back to the autopilot. If you want to assign other keys or joystick buttons search for 'Go to save 3-D cockpit location' in the commands list.
Yes, this is a super tutorial on the C-90, especially since I couldn't figure out where the autopilot was located. Still CANT SEE THE PANEL since when I scroll down to it I only get the top of the autopilot switches. My display is set at 1680 x 1050. I tried a lesser display resolution. No joy. ANYONE HAVE AN IDEA. It's probably something I am simply overlooking. Thanks
Hi and thanks for your comment! Have you by any chance got your cockpit view set to 2D panel? Try changing it to 3D with "View -> Change (Internal) -> Forward with 3-D Panel"
Good tips. However when in nav mode you should be able to switch between crs nav1, crs nav2 and gps with a flightplan. According to the manual you should use the CRS SEL button on the autopilot panel. However it does not work here :( Do you know how?
Using the CRS SEL button to switch between nav1, nav2 and GPS (RNV1) used to work in X-Plane 11.2. It seems there has been a regression in 11.3 :-( It is still possible to select between nav1 and GPS using the CDI button on the GNS 530 but it seems there is no way to select nav2.

My auto in the king air just doesn't want to work period, everytime I time I try to select a mode, the mode I select doesn't stay on, nor does the autopilot on/off toggle, and I don't have a clue why :/
When I've encountered strange control issues like that, they've sometimes been fixed by selecting the X-Plane top menu option Flight -> Edit Failures -> Fix All Systems. (Fix All Systems is a button at the bottom left of the Edit Failures screen).
I watched this video for the sole purpose of finding the knob to adjust the heading selector, and you completely fail in showing me where that is. Ppft.
Yep. I think maybe it's not so bad in the real aircraft because after you have looked down you can manipulate some of the controls with your fingers. Easier in the Carenado B200 with the pop-up autopilot view.
