Finally something about Prehnite. I know a place wher Prehnite makes 30% of the beach and local people walk over it.

Elizabeth, remind me of what SGR is? The Natural History Museum of San Diego had a great display of the crystal systems. Maybe try building the model with toothpicks or straws to show how that paper idea would cut through the system. Thank you for making the orthorhombic system easier to understand. Always has been difficult for me to understand this system.

Hi Wendy. The SGR is the Sisk Gemology Reference, which is a three-volume reference collection focusing on gemstones and minerals. It's the legacy of the late Jerry Sisk, one of JTV's original founders. We refer to it often on this channel. If you're interested, here's a link to the SGR. www.jtv.com/gemstones/sisk-gemology-reference

@@gems I have had that set for a number of years now. Great set! I often snuggle down with one of the books at bedtime. Thanks for responding.

This RUclips channel has helped me get more into Gemology, now I'm working towards IGS certification, then (after saving up a LOT more) hopefully a G.G degree from GIA. I love learning more about gemology from this channel, I implore y'all to make more videos like this! Probably my favorite JTV video of all time, and I've binged almost every video on the channel

tetragonal next time? pretty interesting minerals you can find there, like cassiterite, carletonite, chalcopyrite, maybe autunite if you live dangerously.

I would appreciate seeing all of the gems cut or specimens, on a rotating plane and not the movement in tweezers or fingers. Some are but others not. Much appreciated . 💎

Love these videos but there’s no way they don’t know what the topic is going to be before opening the “mystery box”.
