National Anthem: Romania - Deșteaptă-te, române!

- "Deșteaptă-te, române!" Romanian (variously translated as "Awaken thee, Romanian!", "Awaken, Romanian!", or "Wake up, Romanian!") is the national anthem of Romania.
The lyrics were composed by Andrei Mureșanu (1816-1863) and the music was popular (it was chosen for the poem by Gheorghe Ucenescu, as most sources say). It was written and published during the 1848 revolution, initially with the name "Un răsunet" ("An echo"). It was first sung in late June in the same year in the city of Brașov, on the streets of Șchei quarter. It was immediately accepted as the revolutionary anthem and renamed "Deșteaptă-te, române".
Since then, this song, which contains a message of liberty and patriotism, has been sung during all major Romanian conflicts, including during the 1989 anti-Ceaușist revolution. After that revolution, it became the national anthem, replacing the communist-era national anthem "Trei culori" ("Three colors").
July 29 is now "National Anthem Day" (Ziua Imnului național), an annual observance in Romania.
The song was also used on various solemn occasions in the Moldavian Democratic Republic, during its brief existence, between 1917 and 1918. Between 1991 and 1994 it was the national anthem of Moldova as well, but was subsequently replaced by the current Moldovan anthem, "Limba noastră" ("Our language").

Even though our two nations do not really get along, I still have a lot of respect for Romania. We must not let history divide us, but have a stronger future together. I may be Hungarian, but I love my Romanian brothers and sisters. We may have conflict, but a majority is over stupid reasons. I know that a main conflict between us is who Transylvania belongs to. It was at first part of Hungarian territory and Hungary controlled Romania, but that was back when Vlad Tepes was still alive. After WW1 Romania gained control of Transylvania until WW2 when Hitler gave Transylvania back to Hungary. After that war, Romania gained it again. We can just say that both nations are entitled to it, but Romania is looking after it. Hungarians may live in Transylvania and have a great life, and Romanians can live in Budapest, Pecs, or wherever and have a great life as well. Anyway, lots of respect and blessings to Romania from a person from Hungary who loves Romania!

What do you think why did Stalin wanted to nullify the Vienna Awards? Because he knew that national hostilities will make impossible to rebel against him and the USSR. And now Putin does the same. Mistake at 1:28 in translation. Instead of "Trajan", the Roman emperor, like it should be, but it's "Trojan". In the next sequence it's correct

@Ian Berwick you're using the wrong song. This is the previously used Moldovan national anthem. They used to use Deșteaptă-te, române! with one line changed in the last stanza. Instead of 'Româna națiune' they say 'La patria romana' which you can hear in this video starting at 1:48.
MRNEIN Same except for one line. The Moldovan one goes “Priviți mărețe umbre Mihai Ștefan Corvine, La patria Romană ...” instead of “Priviți mărețe umbre Mihai Ștefan Corvine Romană națiune...” So they deliberately emphasize not being the Romanian nation.
They had that anthem from 1991 to 1994. Then they changed it and now their anthem is 'Limba noastră'. So basically, it's a little bit like Canada also using God Save the Queen except Moldova actually made Deșteaptă-te, române their national anthem for a bit. Here's a vid that has this exact same version of the anthem (ruclips.net/video/n7pgLJ095YY/видео.html) Notice the lyrics.
Yeah. Funny enough one of the other channels I follow that features a GAJILLION national anthems and patriotic songs not only had those songs listed correctly but then used the wrong song (Moldova while listed as Romania) in a separate video.

For all angry Hungarians about Transylvania: Some countries were made to be small, others bigger. We both had our golden ages, and they passed. You should be thankfull that Hungary even exists as a country! And, all the arguments that you all start will lead to nothing. No president looks here and thinks its a good idea to make war. Also, if that ever happened, we are both in the eu, NATO and UN exist, so... what are you gonna do?
You forgetting something: Nothing lasts forever. The EU currently is crumbling. NATO is getting f*cked up as well and the UN is pretty useless, because they can't even enforce appropriately the international laws and rights (Just look back to 2014 when Russia annexed Crimea, but I can bring up other examples when they failed if you want)
Of course I don't say war is necessary for solving territorial disputes, but I dare say that the current borders is unacceptable, because it can lead this region into a war. The local presients may not want war, but the major powers like the USA or Russia thinks that maybe this region would be a perfect battleground and therefore they can use territorial disagreements in order to launch a war to gain more influence. What do you think the USSR why didn't sign the Treaty of Trianon, yet they acknowledged the very same borders 27 years after in the Treaty of Paris? Because they needed the territorial disputes in order to keep this region under their influence! So I would reconsider your statement if I were you!

This is the moldavian version (up to 1991 or 1994, I don't remember) and not the Romanian version, it's a bit different: 1:52 says "La patria Romana" in the song instead of "Romana natiune"

"Corvine" refers to Iancu de Hunedoara, regent of Hungary and father of Matia Corvin biggest king of Hungary ever. Iancu was a romanian from the lower nobility who rose to power in spite of his "low class ancestry" trough bravery and great statesmanship, he defeated the Ottoman turks in a decisive victory at Belgrad, completley outnumbered and outgunned. He drove back the Ottoman empire for 76 years, they would not dare attack europe again. He was known in the west as Joan the Wallachian, and named by the Pope 'athleta Christi'... To this day all catolic churches ring their bells everyday in his name.
