You inspire me. I would never look at a dress and then see something else. Thanks for sharing
It’s amazing what you can do with a little creativity. But there are people who are just flat amazing with upcycling - they inspire me!
@@TodayinJensSewingRoomI have a friend who is like that. She can see what no one else is able to do. She’s also like that in the kitchen. Just grabs things from the fridge and pantry and makes wonderful meals. Some people just have “it.” As soon as I looked at the red plaid dress, I said “fabric!” Maybe you’re rubbing off on me. 😊
Glad you had a great time with family. So fantastic you and your mom can still do things together. I didn’t feel the best physically over the holidays. However emotionally and mentally I was over the moon. I had a endoscopic procedure done the day before Thanksgiving and guess what? I am totally cancer free!! God is so good!! I do have to have my gallbladder removed but that is it. Now I just have to get my sewing mind right. I guess from the stress I was under last month I have made some goofy mistakes and just can’t think.
PTL! God is so faithful!
Jen, I love your fabric and thrift store hauls. You have what most sewists are afflicted with, Fabricitis (a condition where you are unable to resist fabric). In my community, Campbell River, BC, we have several thrift stores. I support "Second to None" which is operated by the Hospice Society. I find most of my fabric and sheeting finds, as well as clothing that can be repurposed as you had shown. I find patterns at the Hospital Thrift Store and recently acquired a large haul of Kwik Sew patterns. On one of my trips, I acquired 6 metres (about 7 yards) of leopard print interlock material for $5.00. Most of my finds are 1 to 2 metres and I never pay over $2.00 for them. Keep showing more of these trips. You and your Mom are lovely ladies!!!!
That leopard print interlock is a steal! And Kwik Sew! Somehow everyone up north gets all the good thrift stores. I'll never forget thrifting in Anchorage when my daughter and son lived there.
OMG what a paradise! Those fabric stores are amazing! Maybe next time we go through Atlanta.
It is! I had a blast!
Oooo what fun 😊😊😊
You can hand wash cashmere with Woolite & cold water. I just soak it and rinse thoroughly. Don’t twist! Just press the water out with your hands and roll up in towel and press with your hands. Dry lat on a drying rack.
Thank you!
Oh Jen!!! You look just like your Mom!❤. I did, too. In fact many people said that my Mom would never die because I looked sooo much like her.
What a compliment. If you knew my mom you'd know why that's so true! Thanks!
Love your dresses! You are so creative! Cannot wait to see that gorgeous cape.
Thanks! I'll show you the finished cape soon.
Welcome back. I’ve missed your weekly visits.
I’ve got to go to those fabric stores! They’re great! Thanks for sharing.
Both sweaters are nice. You are the seam ripping queen. The sleeveless denim dress is nice as is so even if you don’t refashion it is still a great find.
I should try it with a belt, I may change my mind -
I love Fine Fabrics and Gail K, I used to live in the county, but we moved to a place with no fabric stores, so I drive down as much as possible.
Oh wow how fun.
Great to see you!! What treasures you picked up on your travels. Those jumpers are so cute on you, it's almost weird to see you in a jumper and jeans (my every single day wear 😂). That red plaid dress looks perfect on you already!
I have a similar denim dress that I bought in Florida that I have done nothing with, you inspire me to dig it out 😂
Lovely to see your Mum, she's looking so well ❤
That shop in Atlanta 🤩.
You have some awesome plans and cape is going to be incredible. 💜
Missing you but so lovely to see a video pop up 👏🏼xxx💕
THAT TARTAN dress is 🔥
Your mom is sweet! I love the first denim dress on you! I can't understand why you don't keep it as is for you. Also, both sweaters look great on you!
I know! She's the best.
Hi Jen, the plaque your mum picked up at the thrift store has the verse we were given at our wedding when we married 57 years ago. Great vlog as always. 🧵🪡🇦🇺
I will have to pass that along to her -
I love how excited you are by the fabric shopping. I’m just the same, however sadly our local fabric shops have all closed. I’d have to go into London to find anything near what you found, and the shops would be much smaller. Wish I could find somewhere like those ones in the UK!
The cashmere sweater look good on you. I know you said it was a little close but it looked nice from my end! Thanks for the address!
Definitely keeping the red one. Thanks!
Lovely fabrics…..look forward to the finished cape….should be stunning….😊🇦🇺🎄
It is definitely on the way to stunning. I'm excited.
Looks like you’re set for fabrics & projects for a while. Will be interesting to see what you make.
How wonderful to see your Mommy! You had a lot of productive Thrifting and fabric shopping. Did you buy ten tons of elastic? You might need it for your stove top pants lol! I wish I had been there shopping with you because I have such great memories of our trip to Atlanta. I cannot wait to see that cape. I feel like it is going to be stunning. I miss you so much. It’s been so long since I’ve seen you and we need to change that ASAP when Christmas is over and we have recovered. We have to get back on our visitation schedule! Thanks for sharing your shopping, love you!❤❤❤❤❤❤
Oh, how I miss you too! It was great to see M&D - I'll be going up every 6 weeks or so. Gotta check on them since my bro and sis can't seem to find the time. You could even come with me! Let's go to Atlanta again. This cape will be daunting and apparently I'm going to get the dress back and do some magic. Now that someone else has cut into it, I can edit with confidence. You need to go thrifting with me up there - it's really good! Love love love you
You and the stove top pants 😂😂😂
I’m a kid in a candy store when I go into Britex Fabrics in San Francisco or The Sewing Studio in Maitland. Since moving to the Florida Panhandle, I don’t have a candy store nearby. 😔
❤
the denim dress is in fashion here aust
Here too - when I was editing I thought it might look good with a belt. I'll have to think about leaving it alone or making something new from it.
Jen, Great finds! My ASG group is considering attending the Sewing and Quilting Expo in Atlanta next year (I think it’s in the spring).
I’m sewing more these days and trying to get into being creative more. It’s fun to play with ideas🥰
You always have great new ideas!
Do nor dry clean! If you can get some special soap for lingerie and hand wash in cool water. Dry flat. No dryer or washing machine!
Good tip - I'll add that to my notes!
I think the Pink cashmere looks good on you
Perfect taran fits is, keep pleats.
Ah, but too dated for me. I have some ideas about what it might become! It does match the sweater . . .
Did you get the 30% off at the 2nd store? I live by the north store. They’re moving/ merging into the other one. I visit Fine Fabrics often. I asked too soon I see you did get the discount! I also love Gail K
Jen, I looked up the Fine Fabrics locations. Is it the Commerce location that’s closing? I wish you’d put out this video earlier, because the Jonesboro store is less than 20 minutes from where my mother lived. It’s still less than an hour from my brother, so definitely on my list the next time I visit.
Pretty sure Jonesboro is the one that's south.
It’s the Norcross, Ga location. Still 30% off until they move.
Excuse me!!! No, no, no! Do not say No to the patterns. It's ALWAYS at least take a quick peek! LOL I cannot comprehend how you passed that up. Can you feel my disappointment? I really wanted to see them! Maybe next time?
😂 Next time. I would have been there all day!
Which goodwill were you at?
I think it might have been Lovejoy?
Our goodwill store has such high prices thsts it impossible to shop there anymore..I go to Salvation Army now...lots better
