Lovely to see " my Rachael", your better half with you. You're on your best behaviour not farting around her 😂. What a fabulous building. Thanks so much for bringing us along. Stay safe 🇮🇪❤️🍀
34:29 On the wall is a poem: I'd rather be a could-be if I cannot be an are; because a could-be is a maybe who is reaching for a star. I'd rather be a has-been than a might-have-been, by far; for a might-have-been has never been, but a has was once an are. By Milton Berle - A 1900s American Actor. I googled what I could read! I love it 💜 saved for future Insta post!
The Victorians certainly knew how to build structures well! Even though this was built as an asylum they still put care and attention into the building. This place would be awesome as a hotel, or made into apartments keeping all the features of this building. Let’s hope it won’t be vandalised and left to rot. Stunning, just stunning.
I think Rachael did brilliantly well. I know you found it scary, but you did leave her on her own. She’s a strong woman. Well done Rachael you didn’t let us girls down! 💖💖💖
Of course Andy is missed! Positive & healing thoughts to him & his family!! ❤ Beautiful old building! There was a noticeable change in the very old part, Heaviness to it. Creepy indeed! There were alot of different "Electrician" writing on the walls? Maybe that's something they do? I know construction & masons leave markings.
Great video..i chuckled when Rachael said "no" when you asked her to give you another torch...dont blame her that was a spooky corridor...Interesting to see all the tradesman and apprentices signed and dated the walls through the years as they did up each room along there.
Back in the day yes they used to do lots of the things you mentioned things have changed a lot since them days but the horrible stories that you here about these places are sickening.. but also fascinating if only walls could talk and the secrets they hold nice video 👍🥰👍
I loved this explore! It was spooky but yet there were a lot of grand areas and ornate things!! I loved seeing Rachel! I’m glad she was with you. Another awesome explore by Matt and Rachel. Love Betty
At the 7:50 timestamp you're in a surgery theatre so the patient may get electric shock therapy or labotomy and other Drs or visitors from other hospital could watch how surgeries were performed.
And the writing you asked us to identify.... It's a quote "I'd rather be a could be". I'd rather be a could be If I could not be a maybe For a could be is a maybe Than a chance of ?? I'd rather be a ?? Than a might have been by far For a might have been has never been ???? That what I'm reading. It's not quite right so I'm thinking whoever wrote it misremembered it. Fascinating though and happy to know I can still decipher old handwriting. Years of being a secretary taught me well. 🤣
Where I live, the old mental health hospital closed & some of the hospital is turned into appointments, some people say that they hear noises, in 2000, patients were put back into the community/ supported living, after being in hospital for a long time
Hello Matt & Rebecca! Watching you walking around this magnificent building Matt, it's like its Christmas day & each time you enter a room, it's like your opening another present! That victoriana bathroom was beautiful! How on earth can such a place full of history & beauty be left to rot & decay! Surely "English Heritage" or such can help protect & preserve such splendor! It would be a fabulous place to visit for tourists etc! I cannot believe the power is still on & the way our country is at the moment, its utter madness! Thankyou for sharing this whole adventure with us. Xx
Great explore. Loved all the tradesmen writing on the walls. The poem is by Robert William Chambers, wrote in 1905, to be or not to be, its a really clever poem, very funny.
I think the room was used as a film/entertainment area. Some people would be downstairs on chairs and others would be upstairs on the wooden benches. Years ago a lot of people in the entertainment industry stopped off at these places when passing and did shows.
The place where you were up on a floor looking down into that room looks to me like a gallery for students of surgery practices, just like in the old days showing students how to remove and open the heart and lungs op.just a thought matt. Love this video.
Old days you would have to plead your case in front of a room of doctors (mini-dictators) to try and get the hell back out.Still goes on, awful places can't explain it enough for non-initiates.Good video 👍
Had to watch this one late. 🙄😞 But so worth it! What a great old building. Too bad so much awful stuff went on. That cellar was creeeeeepy! We know security isn’t doing their job when there is flooding! Good you found it. Great explore! Stay safe! Good seeing the beautiful elusive Rachel as well! 💕
Such an amazing building. Look at buildings now compared to how they decorated them back then.. You just don't get anything like it anymore. Does really make you wonder what actually went on inside those rooms. So sad. BTW, Rachel, get yourself in front of the camera, I think you'd do so well. 😊😊
Wow. .. what an amazing place .. some great features that we can only hope are saved so they can be enjoyed in the future.. great explore, one of those most of us dream of finding and doing one day
My great great grandmother was sent to one of these place’s, all due to her being grief stricken after her newborn baby died. She ended up living out the rest of her days in there. She was in that place over 50 years in the end, my parents went to visit her frequently, they both agreed mentally she was absolutely with it, but unfortunately she’d been there so long she was institutionalised in the end. So sad.
Another absolutely brilliant explore Matt. Such a beautiful old building. Absolutely tragic to see the water pipe continually pouring out into the basement. If the water gets too high, it will trip out the transformer. Let’s hope nobody is down there when that happens due to the massive surge of electricity.
Brilliant video Matt , fascinating place, could certainly get the sense of how spooky it was , I could imagine that the hallway where the graffiti was , other who left there mark on the walls, must have felt much the same as yourself, maybe added to the atmosphere of the place, really enjoyed the video thank you and thank you Rachel too , 🙏👍🇬🇧
The writings of 'electrician' and some of the other occupations will have been from guys working there. Interesting thing about the two way mirror and what a weird place for it!
That place is really creepy though I love all the original features, I think that top bit might have been where they'd put the criminally insane patients before they built separate hospitals like Broadmoor or Rampton I'm not sure
Hi Matt, thank you so much for this SUPER CREEPY EXPLORE VIDEO, it sent shivers down my spine 😱 😱 I send you all my deepest respect and love ♥️ From Steen the danish boy from Bordeaux in France 🇩🇰 🇫🇷 💖 🙏 🙏
what a HUGE place for sure. Not too creepy more just massively beautiful but sad knowing what it was used for really. I guess no matter where you go to find those type of buildings what country there always seems to be history of abuse, god help those souls. Poor dears didn't deserve that, nobody does. Thank you for taking those risks to show us such a prize find! Take care and be safe.
Hey Matt, good to see your handsome face again! 😎 2:08-10 I hafta ask, what is this sound. It almost sounds like a female voice saying something but I kinda think it may have been you moving your hand on the camera near the mic. What do you think? I’d like to mention, when you go to these places y’all should wear masks due to the black mold in some of these places. I want you to be safe. 🤗 The water can be turned off I’m sure. 21:31-33 yes you did hear something. A male voice said yeah. 38:44-46 was that your shoe making that noise or did I hear get out? Thank you for taking your chances to bring us such an amazing adventure! Good to finally see your wife! 😊
Awesome place matt , very very spooky. Great too see Rachel... please do an explore with the wives when Andy wife is better... much love guys and gal...xx
Sad and weird vibes for this one. Why was there wooden strips across the bath, would that be to keep them in the bath. You will have to behave yourself as its not Andy your exploring with. Xx 💙😜
Absolute rabbit warren of runs, passageways & corridors. Don’t think you’ve scratched the surface of that place, reckon you should return there to spend a little more time on it.
at 15:52 - 15:54 when he peeks his head around the corner in the basement you could see at the pink door on the right a shadow running quickly in and out of view

Great video albeit a sad place. Brings it home how these people have to live and are treated. Got a lot to be thankful for xx
Those signatures on the walls. Some include a professional. We're they perhaps added by those who refurbished the place? Seems odd.
Think I’d agree ….one person has done it and the others has added as they’ve worked there
Loved it, the ceilings & woodwork were fantastic 😍 Nice to finally see Rachel.
I think the Mirror you put finger on was a observing mirror you can look through and not be seen, maybe watching the inmates without them knowing!
Another great vid thanks for sharing also Dark Arts filmed there and got some activity so feeling what you both felt could of been 👻
The lancet books are original medical journals
Great explore. Loved all the tradesmen writing on the walls. The poem is by Robert William Chambers, wrote in 1905, to be or not to be, its a really clever poem, very funny.

What a great place, spot on adventure. Looks and sounds like you enjoyed yourself!!!
That was great! At 29:18, the ceiling insulation in the attic has formed itself into a giant, tired, (deflated)? prehistoric Lizard 🦎 (left side).😉😊
This is the one in Edinburgh isn't it? Dark Arts stayed overnight in it and were terrified !!!
'I can hear water and electric', proceeds to walk through water 🙈🙈, Matt man!!! I'll have a heart attack watching you one of these days 😂
This was my fav explore so far! Real life asylum! And Hi Rachel!
The dining room may have been a staff canteen
13:52 Just noticed these massive long velvet curtains...huh-huh...LADS!
