The Calypso Bracelet is a playful looking bracelet that is suitable for casual settings or dressing up an outfit for a night out. Use this design, based on a Herringbone stitch, to make not only bracelets but also necklaces and earrings.
    1. Gather up the Potomac crystal rondelles, cup button and Miyuki seed beads. You will need a size 10 needle and .006 beading thread. Having a thread zap to burn down the lose threads is handy and having a BeadOnIt board will keep you beading more efficiently.
    2. Watch the Calypso Bracelet tutorial to follow along with the step-by-step directions to create the design using the Herringbone stitch.
    3. Make a loop at the end of the project for the cup button using seed beads. Reinforce by threading through the loop again. Bring the thread to the back to tie off and burn down the end.
Make multiple Calypso bracelets for a fun stack-able look. Or make a matching necklace for a set of jewelry you’ll love to wear out and show off.
Enjoy using this jewelry-making bead tutorial video to help you become a more creative and happier beader!
The Designer’s suggested colors and materials for ~7.5-inch (19 cm) wrist:

●Miyuki Seed Beads 8/0 - Crystal Labrador Full, ~8-10 Grams

I LOVE this start to herringbone. I much prefer it to a ladder stitch beginning. This is a really cute project, thanks so much!

This is a very fun bracelet to make. The design is great. I just made my second one. I replaced the 8/0 seed beads in the HB stitch with the new size 11 sharp triangle beads. You should give it a try!! I love the way the triangles sit in the HB stitch.

Just a note to give my opinion of the designs and tutorials done by Designer Allie Buchman. The work is very unique in everything she seems to do and the tutorials are exceptional. She not only explains why she does certain things, but you can see what she is doing from every angle. I have taken notice on most tutorials, from a lot of different companies the hands of the designer are in the way of the camera and beads or out of the view of the camera. There is very little explanation, if any, as to why things are being done a certain way. You really have a "jewel" with Allie Buchman. Thank you

I've been wanting to make a herringbone snake 🐍. Morgana on the TV show Merlin had an amazing one. The head was my booger boo and this tutorial solved the problem. Thanks.

Allie - thank you so much for your wonderful tutorials. Your methods are precise and your vocal tone makes following the video enjoyable. Your use of the seed bead between the rows is unique and does mask the space created in the herringbone stitch.

Good Morning, I started the Calypso Bracelet and love the pattern and your tutorial is wonderful. However, my beads look a bit wonky. I've tried to keep a tight tension, not sure what I'm doing wrong. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Hi Allie ! I did this bracelet but when I came to the part where I make the loop for the clasp (and removed the stop bead), for some reason the “opening” was horizontal instead of vertical ?!!!
I did start the project according to your tutorial, so I’m wondering if it’s because I’m building rows from the other end (stop bead end) ???

Hi Allie love your designs. just a quick question. Do you have to add the 15/0s on the side when making this bracelet or can they be left out and only use 8/0s? thanks

We design for specific products, so it will just take experimentation to modify for other beads we didn't use.

If you want to make it wider (the 11s between the 8s), would you add one 11 in each round?

  • @jordankrystowiak9569

Is there a reason why 8/O seed beads are used or could i use this with 11/O seed beads instead?

    • @Potomacbeadco
      @Potomacbeadco  7 лет назад +1

The design would be much smaller and take a lot more time to make with 11/0. You can certainly do it, but for tutorial purposes, larger beads tend to work better.

Hmmm, that's very difficult way to start tubular herringbone. It's really easy to make 4 columns of 2 beads and then connect the first and fourth columns. Then you have an 8 bead base.
