      Yeah stay on them mate. It's best for you to drive the urgency with them rather than the other way around

      Greetings Dan, thanks for the video.
      I have Briefing coming up soon and am slightly concerned about the MAP tests.
      Haven’t done any academic work for 2 years now and currently relearning loads of SDT and general GCSE Maths concepts in preparation.
      Once I have the basics back, I’ll start working on my UKCAT 1300 book.
      Realistically, how difficult would you say the MAP tests are in actual practice? It’s the only test in Briefing out of the ones you can prepare for that I’m not massively confident in.
      Bit of a silly question but I’d like to know if I’m dreaming with just a month and a half to go.
      Cheers.

    Hi there, great video; wondering if you would recommend integrating regular loaded marches/ tabbing when training for Sandhurst or is prioritising lower body strength and running more effective. Also wondering on your thoughts about how much METCON/ Crossfit style training you would include?

    • @djrxp
      @djrxp  6 часов назад +2

      Thanks mate. Great question. First & foremost, strength & running should be the priority over loaded marches - if you’re strong & can run, then you’ll likely be competent at tabbing. If already quite confident then adding them in to your training will be beneficial (if done correctly)
      Metcons are great. You will do these type of workouts in the military too. Once or twice a week is sufficient

      @ round about 3 years ago. I came out just before the 3 month mark as wasn’t sure if it was for me but after some time I’ve missed it a lot. And now I’ve gained some life skills I think I’m ready.

      I had recruits in my platoon at Catterick that had done something similar. They had a great attitude throughout training and did really well, so good on you. Best of luck mate. If you need any help with the physical elements, feel free to submit a coaching application on my instagram page :)

      Sounds like you are at the start of the process. So I'd estimate 2-4 months

  • @LeadForestFilm

    Would you say six years was usual/acceptable for an officer from your experience? If I do join it would be officer and 6-8 sounds like the sweet spot for service - I know a lot of ppl do lots longer so does that come with any drawbacks/annoyances while your in? And how normal is that, as I guess if I’m gonna do it I’ll try and do it “properly”

    • @djrxp
      @djrxp  7 часов назад +2

      Acceptable is probably the wrong word here, as of course it is - you have a minimum term of 4 yrs so anything past that is acceptable.
      Is 6 yrs usual? Yes, 6-8 is usually when officers start to leave. This is for loads of reasons, but the main one for me is that all your direct junior command positions are over by this point, and you start to move into headquarters roles.

      @LeadForestFilm 6 часов назад +1

      @ brilliant thank you so much - didn’t have anyone to ask about this but cheers for the advice, do u reckon this is the same in the Royal Marines end? For the acceptable thing, the only reason I said that is cos online it says 12 year commission, and I get that you can leave earlier than that but wasn’t sure the actual number of people that do. That is some really genuinely helpful advice tho

    • @djrxp
      @djrxp  6 часов назад

      Yeah all good mate! Yep, same in the RM as I understand it (based off mates that have served with them)

    Hi would you recommend going to uni before going to Sandhurst and if not are there any things you can do to stand out above the uni students.

    • @djrxp
      @djrxp  6 часов назад +1

      It really depends. You obviously don’t need a degree to become an Officer (I didn’t go to uni) but the vast majority of people at RMAS will have been to uni. The question is more down to whether you want to go, what you would like to study, and perhaps aspirations after a military career.
      In terms of standing out, there’s loads you can do. I had been travelling, worked abroad, and then been in a management position for 2 yrs prior to going to Sandhurst. So had more work & life experience than a typical student. But then the student experience offers something different and gives you more opportunities later in life. So it’s really a personal choice

      Could you provide some information on variations in the process for Direct Entry to RMAS from the ranks? Some background specifics. Has a degree and completed basic training, Phase 2 and been at regiment for 7 months. A total of 18 months service. C.O. raised the possibility of officer training at a recent appraisal. C.O. has now recommended them for Direct Entry and signed off on the relevant paperwork. So what will happen next?
      Thank you in advance.

      @Seems things move a little quicker this route then, especially if he decides to keep the same Cap Badge. Also much of the information for application is on his SJAR already I suppose. Thank you for the prompt response.
