After publishing the video, I went to check on birds and found out my BBWFSP from this morning's toss came back. It seems he hit something( speaking of wires fanciers hate😄) and lost some feathers on the chest(see pictures on my community tab). It seems it's not very serious and hopefully he'll recover soon. Very happy! So I'm keeping my record intact😁🤞. Update: upon further inspection, I do see a small hole on the chest which I missed earlier. It is a hawk wound. That explains why the Team B stayed out for that long. Also for yesterday’s Team A toss, they must have been broken up by hawk as well and come back in three groups. D**m hawk! I’m sick and tired of them🤬
I would combine the teams, at this point it wont matter where you take them they know how to find home. Maybe team A will help teach them to come straight home and trap. Just a suggestion, you know your birds better.
That's a good point! I was actually thinking about that after last weekend's tosses and plan to repeat the 40 mile and 60 mile tosses with two teams combined. My only concern is a larger flock may be more prone to hawk attacks especially when they come back and land on the roof. Some hawks in my area just wait there and ambush them. But they have to deal with hawks anyway. Thanks for your suggestion! Hope you're doing well with your YB.
