What I love about this scene is that Dick Van Dyke is a second behind everyone else as someone who had just been thrust into that situation would. Very good acting.
@@XpLiZiTcOnTeNt7 I don't. You already know the routine, so just erase that from your mind and only dance after watching the other dancers as if to figure out what to do next. Spend longer in the position then what you're supposed to until you notice the other dancers have changed then feign panic and hurried/clumsily change.
@@frivolousjulius7492a man in his early 40’s is still a young man. Dick van Dyke has always shown that while we may get older on the outside, inside we may feel as young as ever.
This song has lived in my head rent free since I was probably 5-6 years old when I first saw this movie! It’s so fun and all of these men are so talented!
I always crack up about how terrible the customer looked with the hair cutting machine. Mr Potts should have tried the machine on his son Jeremy before taking it to the fair. if he had tried on his son he would have known there was something very wrong with that machine.
I'm so happy I grew up watching this movie with my parents. Not a lot of people these days have seen it especially kids my age. I'm 15 and have been watching this movie since I was I don't even know how old.
Yeah we've all heard the family guy version. Tbh I love family guy and so when they parodied a song from my favourite childhood musical I couldn't help but enjoy it...but still nothing beats the original.
Man.... when we were little my brothers and I would dance around the living room dancing to this song with pool noodle lightsabers as Bamboo... my childhood
ever since I was a kid and saw this movie with my family I always thought the show would have been a big flop had Dick Van Dyke not joined in. he really stole the show
It is a available on Amazon Prime Video, Vudu, RUclips, and Google Play Movies &TV. I grew up watching this movie on VHS (our player no longer works) and wish that I can find it on DVD somewhere.
@@madeleinebrandenburg401 Meant to say, where to find the soundtrack to stream. Introduced this to my son, who is two during the lockdown (blu-ray). Spotify only has a recording from a Broadway production. It is no Dick Van Dyke.
I grew up with this movie. This song and dance number is a classic. It’s really sad that family guy is what put it on them map for the younger generation. You always get those really immature a-holes that sing over this song with the family guy lyrics because they think they’re being funny. It’s like kids who sing “jingle bells, Batman smells”. It becomes obnoxious. Can we please just appreciate the original for its own merits?

clearspira I would had loved if he hadn’t been taught the steps before this scene.
I feel like performing a beat behind everybody would be hard

They actually interviewed him about this and how difficult it was
Let us remember Dick Van Dyke was in his 40s doing this number. He was always brilliant and remains so!
He also smoked up to 40 cigarettes a day at the time.

It's crazy he was in his 40s during the 1960s and he's still alive right now.

This is basically the Step in Time of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
Given it is Dick Van Dyke, I'd say so.
Same choreographers too.
It even sounds like Step in Time. Not too surprising since the song is written by the same guys.
Omg I never connected that I love it 😂🎉
You are so right 👍🏼
Everyone calls me weird because I memorized the dance routine at age 4! I’m not weird,I’m a lover of the classics!
If only we can have Bamboo Clubs!
I’m jealous you learned this dance at the age of 4. I can barely put two feet in front of each other without possibly tripping
Well we can on Facebook
Yoooo same dude, thus was the shit
Naw you’re not weird.
the best way to run away from an angry customer!! Join a show and sing a fantastic song!!
I always crack up about how terrible the customer looked with the hair cutting machine.
Mr Potts should have tried the machine on his son Jeremy before taking it to the fair.
if he had tried on his son he would have known there was something very wrong with that machine.
I tried this at the store once....it didn't work
He was also biking really fast so that didn’t help either 😂

I've listened to the Family Guy parody so much, I forgot how good the original song is.
Everything is better with a bag of weed
@@AlanPalgut - Which you don't for this song!
Check my channel out! One of my earlier videos I interviewed Jeremy’s actor and he commented on A Bag of Weed.
My mom would make me and my brothers watch choreography movies like these when we were very young.

A bag of weed from family guy brought me here.
i love listening to these old classics when i was a kid.lol i still love these to today
Great xylophone parts here!
According to the original album notes, the musicians stood and applauded Irwin Kostal when the number was recorded.
I never thought of it before, but that's the perfect instrument for a song about how wonderful sticks are.
Man.... when we were little my brothers and I would dance around the living room dancing to this song with pool noodle lightsabers as Bamboo... my childhood
This is probably my favorite song!
Mine too.
No bag of weed? Just bamboo. Awwww man
Haha Family Guy reference
i still wonder how long it would have taken to film this part of the movie with everything correct 0_o
Will Herzog it took them about 42 takes 😂

You could always ask Me. Dick Van Dyke
As Mr. H.L. Mencken said, "the common man's a fool."
And just like Hellen Keller said, “dooboobeebeebooboo!”
Man, those Sherman brothers could really write!
And Irwin Kostal could really arrange!
One of my husband’s and my mutual favorites!
My favorite song from the movie.

I want to choreograph this for a musical theater company and have the soloist only learn the last minute of the dance and nothing else
I seen a magic show with this song in it's act i could not remember the act but I loved the song😅😅

is the same tune pretty much used in Mary Poppins when they are floating at the ceiling? Guess I will have to listen to that musical next.
Ah yeah Family Guy turned this into "a bag of weed " -_-
NICE MUSIC
Was this based off A Bag Of Weed?
