    As an interviewer, you know you have struck gold when you get a legend like Eddie to tell a story about how two great comics like Paul Mooney and John Witherspoon argued with him in the parking lot of the Laugh Factory. And you get Eddie to break into impressions of both comics? Damn, that is about as good as it gets. Seth was so happy he asked the question. I could listen to Eddie tell old stories all day. That should be his stand up act.

    While in college years ago, my friend Lucy Mendez now Lopez & i were fortunate to be unexpectedly surprised with an impromptu performance at The Comedy Store. Eddie was trying out new material. We are still fans of his first recorded live performance & Saturday night live skits.

    Eddie Murphy was so young when all of this stuff was happening that he just takes it as stuff that happened when I was on my come up but doesn't mean anything. I don't think he understands how hilarious brilliant and damn near otherworldly they are for us years later to know these things happened... shout out to Dave Chappelle for recognizing how crazy these stories are...and to make ART... because they've always been floating around black Hollywood FOREVER.

    i remember a clip of john amos taking a break having a cigarette during the making of coming to america the first time. some dude steps up to him and asking asking him a bunch of question about what he did. when john amos said he was an actor, the guy asked him who he was and that he did not think he was famous actor because he didn't know him. pissed and about to walk away before he would rearrange the dude's face. and then it happened. he heard that donkey-in-heat braying, as he described it. eddie was in stitches because it was him in in the make up as one of the characters and john amos had not seen it!

    These are the best types of interviews. I am so impressed when Seth gets a guest comfortable and they tell a story off the cuff like this. This is a skill he should develop more to get the really stoic guests to open up. With the right question the interview is golden. Bravo
