- For the first time I use the banjo extension on my Coronet Herald from Record Power. I wanted to make a large plate, but a catch damaged the edge. Now I had to made the edge smaller or I had to make a more creative edge.
I think it has become more of a UFO🛸now, but it was good practice.👽

Very nice job - thanks for sharing!
I enjoyed that. Thank you for sharing 🌞
thanks!
Great video 👍
Thanks Chris.
Turned out very nicely Frank👍 The coloring you gave it and the shape worked well together🎨 Lovely beauty shots at the end, I really like the piece😃 Nice to have the ability to turn a big UFO on a 14 inch lathe😁 Stay safe. -Mike😷
🛸One day I will fly away👽. I'm glad you like it.
I am working on a new project of almost 15 inches, but it is a bit more difficult then this 16" plate. I don't think I try the resin on this piece, so I found a other piece of punky wood to try it out. So then you can see how I'm doing with the resin. Have you already started or are you waiting for my mess😬?
😉Frank.
@@TheTinyWorkshop started? Sort of. Gary (papa1947) and Rav 'dared' 😁 me to put flutes on a bowl so if I end up using spalted I will.
Can't wait to see this 😁
@@TheTinyWorkshop Look out ! It may be a 💣 !!!
@@mpart_woodlathe-stuff 😬
That's a really big plate, Frank 😲💪 New lathe, new possibilities. You are starting shocking me. Very good idea with painted rim. The oak is having own pattern so the paint pull out this pattern. Double great job my friend.
Do you recognize that you have a great idea to make something and that all steps goes slightly different than you would like. And then in the end you come up with something and you have to save what can be saved😔. I think I was able to make something of this large round slab of wood with the paint. But it was certainly not what I had come up with when I started. The result is certainly nice🤗.
Thanks for watching my friend! Where do you always get the time to be so active with your own channel, watch the videos of others and then also have time for your family?
It is appreciated.🙏
@@TheTinyWorkshop Yuuupi! I recognize that. Half of my projects is like that. In Your video I didn't catch that You made any mistake. Everything looks like planned.
Yes, being active on channel takes time. To not waste a time I'm usually working on 2-3 projects at once. I'm choosing one or two projects with glueing which are usually needs 30 minutes per day and one project to turn in one day. In one week I'm making 3 projects for 3 weeks.
Videos I'm watching on my smartphone. I bought a bluetooth ear speakers so I can cook, clean, work, going by bus, do everything while watching. The worst part is answering on comments. It takes me a lot of time. Some of You remember that English isn't my language and are using simple words so I don’t need a translator, but sometimes some sayings are really hard to translate properly or even impossible.
The second and the most important is good organisation. My wife and me, we complement each other very well.
@@Secondlifeofwoodturning You are a good team together. Organization and planning is your secret. Good to know🤗.
I don't mind this at all, the black rim with it's raised portion draws the eye to whatever is on the plate. Glad this came up on my suggestions, it got me to sub so I can get more notifications for your new videos. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for your comment. Nice that you have subscribed to my channel. Welcome!
I hope you will like my old and new videos too.
All the best, Frank.
Brilliant work!
Thank you. It was that I wanted to use the extension. Fortunately, another nice project came out.😬
TheTinyWorkshop well mate, you can’t always chose what the wood wants to be! Sometimes it will let you know. Beautiful work either way!
@@shaunfelton2046 Thanks! 🤗
What a fabulous piece. The gold over the black was a great idea.
Keep on turning.
Cheers, Bluey 👍
Thanks Bluey. I think that the paint saved this plate😕
.
Awesome
Thanks Luie.
Very nice, I like the look of the dark edge :)
Thanks. The painted edge saved this plate a bit 😬
Beautiful platter Frank, I like the color add to the piece .. Have a great day and stay safe 😀
Thanks Kim. The color looks more bronze than gold, but that gives a nice effect.
Take care.
Frank.
Looks great Frank and your lathe was certainly up to the task Great job
Take care dave
Thanks Dave. It was exciting to do, but the Coronet behaved properly.
Cheers.
Frank.
Looks great Frank and your lathe was certainly up to the task. Great job by you and the lathe.
Take care,
Gary
Thanks Gary. I think it was right on the lathe limit now. But it was a really fun experience to do.
All the best, Frank
Beautiful work 👏! I like that you mixed a little paint in!
Thank you Stephen. The paint works realy good in this piece.
Nice work Frank, looks fantastic.
Thank you John.
Beautiful work!
Thank you Rick 🤗. Nice that you watched my video!
Hi Frank, The plate looks amazing. The colour on the rim really works. When I colour bowls I do all the painting first and then turn the middle out and finish it. Not my invention, I learned it from Stewart Furini. Take care Frank. Cheers, Huw
Hi Huw. The difference with Steward is that I didn't know that I was going to work with color. It was more to save this plate. Fortunately it turned out reasonably well. One day I'll try it like you told.
Cheers.
i know I am kinda randomly asking but do anyone know of a good place to watch newly released tv shows online ?
@Trevor Benjamin flixportal :)
@Valentino Jordy Thanks, I signed up and it seems to work :) I really appreciate it!
@Trevor Benjamin Happy to help :D
Hello. Liked your video of outboard turning. Im in the market for a 14 to 16 inch lathe and was considering the coronet. The one drawback IMHO his the low speed of only 250. How has your lathe held up and do you think it needs a lower speed? Thanks.
I now know that if I need a low speed (below 250), I have not balanced my workpiece properly. Maybe for finishing (epoxy or paint) a slow speed might be useful, but it's not necessary for me at this moment.
be careful...
I will 😊
