    It is best to leave it for 10 minutes to get the most allicin after chopping or crushing with a garlic press. Mix in the highest allicin content raw or after cooking when the stove has been turned off

    Remember to support organic growers! The extra cost for the produce could perhaps be seen as health insurance.. both for your body and the Earths. ‘Get big or get out’ is devastating our soils and environments. As a small producer I grow seasonal fruit and veg on just a few acres and can confirm nobody does this for money! Yet small scale local diversity is essential. With money making the decisions over health we racing towards a dark future💚🙏🏽

    Since we're approaching Autumn I thought I'd mention garlic is incredibly easy to grow. Plant cloves pointy end up in October and ignore them. Harvest next summer. Hardneck gives you delicious scapes to eat before the bulbs mature. Cut scapes while they're still curly and tender and about three weeks later harvest the cloves. Save some to plant that Fall. You can plant it anywhere, even in a flower bed as it doesn't take up much room at all. If you plant enough you'll never have to buy it again.

      @@curtisgrife I make all my sauces raw in the blender. So curries are made with raw whole spices, garlic, ginger, tomatos, flax, chia, etc and blended to a puree. It's saves a ton of time, gas electric, tastes way better and is way healthier as well. Only cook things that need cooking, let it cool and add the rest raw.
      The odd thing out is onion, as i add loads of onion into a curry it would be overpowering if i did it all raw. So i cook about 3/4 of it and the rest goes into the blender.
      Yes, the food is only body temp warm, but i hate hot food anyway. Food tastes better at body temp as your taste buds work better.

      The whole is almost always greater than the sum of its parts; which shows in the research Dr. Greger mentioned, as the garlic based pills and oils never perform as well as even a very small amount of garlic.

      @botzer8817 2 месяца назад

      @@MylinfideleBecause pills cannot reproduce it in quantity. But what about the same quantity in dried garlic.

    • @Mylinfidele
      @Mylinfidele 2 месяца назад

      @@botzer8817 for some health effect like blood thinning or slight immune system booster, the powder works, but not enough to "kill" an upper respiratory illness, as the Allicin released when the garlic is freshly crushed loses its potential beyond 1 hour of crushing it. (Dr. Weil had something on that decades ago, which is why I started using fresh crushed cloves when feeling a cold/bronchitis coming on, and it has consistently nipped those in the bud. Doesn't crush covid though, but helps keep it lighter/short.)

    I can’t eat significant amount of raw garlic without suffering digestive disorder. But roasted is almost fine, and black is like a charm. You mention allicin one of the reported active ingredient, but what about the others? After 1 month of homemade black garlic my long ascaris and pinworm disorder have completely vanished!
    Before I failed with my raw / raosted garlic cures… because of the inconvenience.
    Do we have sudy on black garlic? On other active component content it different garlic forms?

    🇨🇦 nothing new in the statement but if you already have a cold eating, a good chunk of garlic will instantly drive the mucus out of your head and nose. I follow that with nose flushing. No expensive equipment I just run a water over my sink get enough in my cup palm and snort it up one open nostril trying to press it out the other nostril. They continue this for a period of time until I’m completely disgusted, and then scrub everything down.. yuck🇨🇦

    • @lint8391
      @lint8391 2 месяца назад +3

      Eat cooked garlic instead, if you're OK eating it cooked.
      It's one of those ingredients that nicely supplements so many recipes from a flavour point of view.
      As Dr Greger says, don't worry too much about eating stuff in the most nutritious form. Focus on eating it in ways you find most palatable.

    • @Brandovibe
      @Brandovibe 2 месяца назад +1

      @@lint8391 thank you. I definitely eat it cooked, I just am always obsessed with trying to get everything in its most potent and nutritious form and I don't like to lose out on any of its medicinal properties because I have altered it by cooking it

      I've never eaten large amounts of raw garlic (at most a few cloves per day, sliced thinly on bread) so the only thing I can suggest is the same as for any other food: Ease your body into it, ie. start with very small amounts. If that doesn't work, try it in another form (eg. cooked), or just don't worry about it at all. No one plant is necessary for a long and healthy life, even if some do have unique health benefits.
