AZKC goes to Prescott, Arizona! Was it what I thought it would be?

- I had never been to Prescott, Arizona and was excited to visit over my birthday week. I chose to stay at Hotel St. Michael, built in 1901, and rumored to have paranormal activity. I chose the hotel based on its location on historic Whiskey Row and within walking distance of shops and restaurants.
I wasn’t sure of what to expect but assumed it may be comparable to Tombstone, Arizona.
Would I return? You bet your boots I would! I LOVED IT!

We were just in Prescott in Oct. I have a daughter who lives in Prescott Valley and we were visiting. We would love to retire there, but the housing prices are well out of reach. We did enjoy walking around looking at all the victorian houses. Swoon!!!

We moved to Prescott a bit over 20 years ago. We visited on a trip and fell in love with it and, when retirement time came, we moved here. We lived all over the US due to my husband's job. It is our favorite place. We love it. I never want to move.
Next time you're in Prescott, try the Palace Hotel. They have a great restaurant and the history of the building is awesome.
If you're into gambling, which we are not, it has two casinos here run by the Native Americans, the Yavapait Tribe. One is on the top of a hill with a fabulous view. It is a resort and hotel, too.

I am happy. It was nice to see you on this video, happy and smiling. KC, on one of my emails. I asked you for your friends postal address, so I could send you a Christmas Card. I happen to find it. So please do not bother. I have to learn to keep a cool head. As soon as I send the card. I will let you know. It will be one day next week. I was watching a video of Hau Hin this evening. A lot of Americans that have retired, have made Thailand their new home, and have no regrets. Everything is so cheap in Thailand, and they are living a good life. How I wsh I knew all this in the year 2000, when I first went to Phuket. Never mind, I will be there next year. Take care, stay safe, and keep smiling.

Those are my initials actually. Lol. My real name is Kimberly. I started going by KC about ten years ago. I started a new job at a new restaurant opening up and there were two of us named Kimberly. Everyone was getting us confused so I said I’d go by my initials. It just stuck. It seems odd now if anyone calls me by my given name. 😊

I lived there for close to five years. My husband and I retired there, but he passed away nearly five years after we moved there.

Prescott thanks to out of staters coming in have driven home prices beyond the reach of most families.

No, its the same everywhere, its the economy not the out of staters. Plus, its a fun place to live now. Much more fun than it was in 80s, 90s, 00s.

To me, a resident of Prescott, every month is great. It can get hot in the summer but there is little humidity, so it rarely feels uncomfortable, certainly, not if you're in the shade. Summer is our monsoon season, so we do often get rain then. We get snow and cold in the winter, which surprises many people who think everywhere in Az. must be hot but again, it is still lovely and due to low humidity, does not feel as cold as the same temps in other places make you feel. We are at 5000 ft. Flagstaff is even higher and they have ski resorts.
I love all four seasons here.
Prescott is known as Christmas City, and the town is beautiful and decked out during the Christmas season. Just search for Why is Prescott, Az. known as Christmas City? to get more information. Every Christmas, there is a big ceremony on the town square for the Courthouse Lighting to kick off the Christmas season. Prescott goes all out for Christmas and even puts on a Christmas Parade!
@Razm-a-Tazzi I love that. I bet the entire town gets together for it, too. I’m picturing a hallmark movie in my head. I grew up in a small midwestern town and I miss when the entire town would get together for festivals/events.

so Prescott had alot of places to eat? like fast food and restaurants? just curious because most of the video's i seen online dont show much in the way of places to eat at..
Oh yes! There were a lot of restaurants around the main square in the historic part as well as more in the modern area further out. I wish we could’ve stayed longer as I would have really enjoyed trying more of the restaurants in the area.
Just don’t go to Prescott on Monday as I discovered that is the day many of the restaurants are closed. Lol
