two tips i would add. 1. each bait is a unique item. as such if you are only able to buy two of the three needed for a specific zone, have the two in your bag and continue fishing pools in that zone. since you will have the two, the third one is the only one that will be able to be fished up. 2. the sleeping murloc fish can be annoying to run around and pick up. if you have flying however you can land on the top of a pillar or something of the like and wake the murloc, he will stay in the confined space and drop all of his fish nice and neatly for you. happy hunting anglers.

I've had this on my mage for a while but I've just switched mains so might need to get it again. i wish it was account bound would make life easier lol
A tip you might have forgotten or missed, fish up in Warlords of Draenor for the fishing training to 700. Makes a quality of life difference for the training portion.

You're awesome! The first thing I do is up all of my professions and fishing is one of my favorites. I just came back after a 4+ year hiatus and my fishing is 800 but had no idea about this Underlight Angler and what it does!!! Time to grind this out!
No longer needed to log out in order to fish up the pearl. Fishing lures are unique and you need 3 per zone with 1 per rare fish per zone. I recommend catching / buying each lure prior to using in order to cut down on time spent fishing and catching lures that you no longer need. There is an ideal path for leveling the artifact rod that i would highly recommend as well utilizing either the stormrays or queenfish talents first (I recommend the stormrays).
If you're using the one that makes specific pools appear, like the Vrykul Signet or the Ghostfish Brooch, and have low fishing skill, fish for the whole duration in those pools. You can get TONS of fishing skill off of one buff, and will likely fish up the lure again in the pools. I got one of my toons from 375 fishing to the cap in an hour or so.
if just like to add you can equip the rod while mounted without getting dismounted and you still get the speed buff from it. good for short trips through water although far less useful now that flying exists in legion zones.
Have this pole on multiple toons, GREAT tool even with flying out. Can confirm all features work in pvp. Only thing thats kinda blah is the water walking doesnt work while mounted, but you still swim super speed while mounted.
Wow I love this!!! I need it already have the 800 skill on 2 or 3 characters, I got lot of ancient mana from fishing and other cool stuff not just cooking mats :)
I'm 12/12 done for my army of alts. I actually have 15 level 110, but only care about 12 of them, the rest are Horde alts and leveled Allied race for Alliance.
It really should be. On my 'fishing' toon, the achievement alone just took me about 12 hours to do, 1200g in bait, and that was already with 800 fishing and a Mastercraft Kalu'ak Fishing Pole. There is NO WAY I will do this on another toon. No... FREAKING... WAY. They need to allow you to catch like... 5 Rare fish for the achievement on alts if they want to make this alt-friendly.
I remember when fishing was first introduced in wow. I always hoped it would become something really interesting. Well, it looks like it has and that's great. I haven't played wow in years and fancy giving it a go, just for this item. Looks like great fun.
Hazel, I haven't played WoW since Pandaria, and fishing was always one of my very favorite parts of playing (seriously, hundreds of hours). Now that I've watched this, I kind of want to come back to try all the new fishing stuff. And the rod is hilarious and awesome.

I've been thinking about fishing, did it alot in WoD because I got bored that expansion but I never seem to set time aside in Legion for fishing, too much other stuff to do but I really want that artifact fishing pole now after watching this video, I think I'm gonna have to no life it this weekend!
Do you know if you have to get the achievement Bigger Fish to Fry on each toon? I have tried to get the Luminous Pearl quest now for several hours and nothing. When I achieved the BF2F on a different server, I got the LP quest in 5 minutes.

Ooooh I didn't know these facts, I've just gotten the artifact fishing pole a couple of days ago and have been struggling with the sha'leth rep as when I tried it I used the raft and it kept either disappearing or I wasn't able to click on the lure when I had caught something which was really irritating 😡😡, thank you soooo much for the facts though I will definitely have to try them out over the weekend myself 🙂🙂

The shark you need to throw on the ground can be gotten from fishing WQs as well - it's been a reward on my Realm (AD EU) at least once, and my fishing skill is only about level 320.
It’s awesome the length that Blizz goes in order for us to use fishing.... cannot be bothered with all this work for what at the end, fish?!?!?...will be doing it in 1 or 2 expansions later on if I have absolutely nothing to do.
I actually have 2 underlight anglers already but this came on autoplay. Idk if you've caught on to this by now but your comment about not paying 500g or more for bait got my attention because I've been selling bait for the achievement from 200g to 26,000g per piece. Once your fishing artifact is maxed out it's worth keeping arcane lures on you when fishing just to sell these.

on my server the baits all range in the 2-3k range each...ack. Gonna procrastinate on this incredible grind....the thing that puts it over the top is the fact that AFTER you fish up a kazillion rare fish you're supposed to continue for months to max your artifact with more rare fish...definitely a great way to get gold for now though, people who haven't finished nomi need them badly for the recipe cooking orders!
I really enjoyed fishing before legion and this was actually heaven for me. I got my angler before i got 110 i think :) and yea still today its worth getting fish and selling either the fish or making the actual food. I really hope they keep that thing for the future.

Great video but just remind that high likely they will remove the water walking whenever a expansion comes out. It's not a question of if, but about when...
This week we get Bfa prepatch and this is the only item in artifacts what have skills and buffs! Im very happy and thanks to Blizzard! :D You can skill up the treats in Dalaran with catch rare fish in Broken Isles and get ap to drop in the water. Happy Fishing! :D
btw you can skip out on buying bait just use arcane bait thingy after 15 ish minutes of fishing for drowned mana youll have around 50 mana and one arcane lure is 1 mana and the arcane lures fish up baits for you
You forgot the most important part of it all. To grind AP for the fishing rod you should keep one rare lure of each in Stormheim and only use the ring bait. Thap makes ghost manta ray pools appear and each fish gives AP. Since you have the inventory full of baits, only the ring will keep appearing, making it possible to refish for hours without leaving the zone. And ofc you should use arcane lure.
I've had this thing for quite a while now on my main. The swim speed/fish form makes doing some WQ a breeze & I miss it like crazy while playing on one of my alts.

Awww man I want this soo bad but it's going to be impossible for me bad time to be a noob xD I even tried tracking the bigger fish to fry and it doesn't appear do you need to be level 800 in fishing to get it?
i found for a brand new toon that i want to get this on its best to sit in a zone until you catch all 3 rares keeping them till you are completed with the ach the fish sell well if you dont need the skill points at the end (10g each i believe). if possible fish off the coast of each zone so you have the chance at the ocean fish along with the zone specific ones if you are unable to max fishing before you finish the ach then only use enough of your saved up rares to max out fishing.
honestly i leveled all my new toons (i lvled during prelaunch invasions) from 1-800 this way and i did wind up selling some of them. now if your bags fill up obviously go ahead and use a few just to clear some space.
Nothing official but word on the street is that 7.2.5 is bringing new artifact skins for the pole IF you have it maxxed out. I'm currently two points from maxing mine out and it is a nightmare. I'm going to try to get the pole on a character that doesn't have 800 fishing. I'll let you know if you can fish the pearl without 800 fishing.
figured id mention this for people who pvp the swim speed buff affects mounts in water and still gives u water breathing and for example twin peaks the swim speed buff is NOT affected by the flag carry speed decrease as of when i posted this.. even in rated BGs ive tested it personaly and the water walk functions in BGs and rated BGs so its even handy for pvp for a few of the BGs arathi basin twin peaks isle of gilneas strand of the ancients maby alterac valley (dont remember if AV has water areas or not) and of course world pvp XD killed a few people on my mage from the water with greater pyro XD
It is, can confirm everything except ports to the nearest nodes. It took my complete achiev and get quest for fishinghook in patch 8.1 about 7 hours and hour (bought baits) for water walking and shark form underwater swimming. I really like this fishinghook

I absolutely love mine, the swim speed buff is awesome! The waterwalking is cool for fishing up schools that are oddly placed.

I got the underlight angler today, july 2020, patch 8.3, so it is still obtainable if anyone is wondering.

To get the forms and such though and water walking do you have to have the weapon equipped? if you do that kinda sucks

You forgot to mention one of the most important traits. You can move close to mobs, helps in fishing but also world quest when you wanna sneak.

Is maxed out expansion specific fishing skill needed with the current game state?
The main reason would be that the water speed buff works while mounted. So every mount becomes amphibious.
