Marty I think would be a TP character to contrast Brad being an SP character. Also if he has a lot of skills compared to other party members it's mostly because he's probably an "important" party member like Brad. Probably immune to death like Brad too?

Basic attack - Bottle Throw. The Marty classic. (Marty throws his own bottle at the enemy; basically the same animation as the Painful intro) 20% Bleed, 5% stun
Marty skills, "Social"
Small Comfort - 5 TP. "Comforting words from a sad old man..." "Marty tries to comfort them..." Recovers small amount of HP, Brad is "weak" to this skill so he recovers more HP.
Trash Talk - 10 TP. "Talk some mad trash to get under the enemy's skin. Don't bite off more than you can chew." "Marty is talking serious trash!" 40% Pissed, 30% Crying, 30% Rage
Motivate - 10 TP, 3 turn cooldown. "Pump yourself and a partner up to stomp a mud hole in the enemy's a(RUclips)." "Marty is pumping them up!" Increase Atk/S Atk and 40% rage for Marty and recipient.
Dirt Kick - 15 TP. "Kick dirt right in their ugly faces." "Marty kicks up dirt!" 80% crying, 10% blind.
Big Comfort - 20 TP. "Heartwarming words from a sad old man... Can bring a tear to the eye..." "Marty comforts them." More HP restored than Small Comfort, but has a 20% chance of inflicting crying. Same as Small Comfort, Brad is "weak" to the skill.
Come To Daddy - No Cost, 3 turn cool down. "Make a farce out of yourself to make the enemies look your way..." "Marty is calling them out!" 100% chance of Taunt, 60% chance of Ironbody. Actually applies to the user so it functions like it should. Also gain 20 TP.
Doze Off - No Cost. "An old man needs his sleep..." "Marty falls asleep!" (Animation would literally be him standing there before suddenly flopping over asleep) Heals a lot of HP and restores 50 TP, but 100% sleep to user.
Big Trash Talk - 20 TP. "Talk a dumpster's worth of trash. Really gets under their skin." "Marty is talking serious trash!" 60% pissed, 40% crying, 30% rage, 20% wary, 10% scared, 10% depression.
Keep Aware - 25 TP, 3 turn cooldown. "Make you and a partner mindful of their surroundings..." "Marty is warning them!" Agi/Luck increased and 40% of Hide on Marty and recipient.
Gravel Kick - 25 TP. "What's worse than dirt in the eyes? Small sharp jagged rocks in the eyes..." "Marty kicks up gravel!" 90% crying, 60% blind, 20% bleed.
Final Comfort - 30 TP. "Truly heart wrenching words from a sad old man..." "Marty gives the final comfort!" Restores a lot of HP, but 60% chance of crying, Brad is also "weak" to this skill.
Keep It Together - 30 TP, 3 turn cooldown. "Make a partner play it defensively!" "Marty helps them prep up a defense!" Def/S Def increased and 80% chance of Ironbody on Marty and recipient.
Blood Bond - 40 TP, 5 turn cooldown. "If they want your boy, they'll have to go through you..." "Marty is covering Brad!" Marty takes any damage Brad would have received (basically gets a unique version of Cover that only applies to Brad and lasts two turns) Increases Def/S Def a lot and guarantees Ironbody, both fade when the effect wears off.
Ultimate Trash Talk - 60 TP. "Talk a whole landfill's worth of trash!" "Marty is talking serious trash!" 80% pissed, 60% crying, 50% rage, 40% wary, 30% scared, 30% depression.
Combat skills - "Marty Style"
Belly Flop - 15 TP. "Use that beer gut for something useful..." "Marty flies in!" 20% fallen, 20% stun. Solid damage.
Groin Kick - 15 TP. "Hit em where it hurts most..." "Marty kicks the groin!" Decreases enemy's agi/luck, 30% stun. Low damage.

If Marty was a relatively good person, why would Brad still be an addict? Maybe Grandpa Armstrong was worse in this timeline?
Brad still didn’t have the best childhood, Lisa still dies young in this alternate reality and feels regret over Dusty.
Those are my ideas why he’s an addict.

This basically changes the entire timeline since I consider Brad killing Marty on the island the turning point in Brad and Buddy's relationship.
Still, Marty not turning into an abusive parent after his wife passed. Very interesting concept.

Alternative universe where Marty is not going to be broken and turn into devil after his wife's death would be an awesome part of LISA fan-content. I imagine if we could see the complete game with these changes. Just think about it... And if they both want Buddy to be their second chance... Brad would defeat the entire Rando Army with father on his side. Man, now that is both cute and sad at the same time. They would get way closer to each other in this journey but they are going to be so broken after realizing that Buddy does not want to be with them anymore... Ah jeez...
So Marty was a good enough dad in this scenario, at least for Brad to be on good terms with him.
Makes me wonder what happened with Lisa in this case. Either Marty was selectively shitty to her or she was just going through something unrelated nobody could pull her out of. Sad...
The flash kills Lisa anyway, brad still copes with joy, and everything is the same except now Marty isn’t a dick, buzzo probably don’t hate brad for Lisa death so he doesn’t hurt brad but still makes joy, basically the same with some small changes
I think the truck bottom right on the title screen should've given a hint.

Seeing Marty as a good parent for Brad feels really off but also it feels nice to see them kinda happt together

it really is unbelievably heartwarming to see what marty would have been like as a father genuinely trying his best to be a good, caring role model for his kids in sheer contrast to the canon where he was so unfathomably abusive that he drove one of his children to suicide, and made the other hate him so much that he killed him in an uncontrollable drug-induced rage the moment he got the chance
the buddy makeup scene at 10:10 especially hits harder considering one of the remarks made by him in the manifestation of marty fight in the definitive edition about his massive disdain and condemning of brad allowing lisa to apply their mother's makeup on him to cover his bruises; in one small scene it truly shows the tender side of his heart when caring for children that was overtly absent in the original story
i do enjoy that there was a certain amount of nuance taken into consideration with this version of marty that shows that he is still quite far from being a perfect father, seeing as he retains his unfortunate alcoholism and dirty unkempt household from the original version, and yet despite those large shortcomings his personality being altered like this makes up for nearly all of it (though, to be truthful, i can't tell if this is simply appearing to me this way because he's truly trying his hardest to be a good parent, or because the original marty was such an incomprehensibly horrible father who stooped to levels of repulsive and vile neglect and abuse so indescribable that even the slightest sign of fatherly care being shown from him is a monumental improvement in all areas)
If the game was like this it'd be a whole different type of pain, because marty is so old and feeble

I wonder how Marty in combat would be, although a lot of shit must be changed in order for this timeline to make sense, as Marty's shittiness indirectly caused most of the conflicts in the original game, wonder how Buzzo is doing and why did he fuck off rando's face this time, you planning in continuing this?
1. I imagine him being a support-offense type of character. Can heal, buff, debuff and do damage but can’t do really high damage and heal a lot. Basically Terry but with more heath and defense but less damage and will struggle in late game.
2. Lisa still dies but by carelessness and Buzzo still blames others for her death.
3. Uncertain. I thought of doing a part 2 of sorts at Rando Land.

He's still messy, an alcoholic. Probably a bit neglectful - but not out of malice, like usual, but instead out of extension of his own self neglect. Seems depressed. Could be for infinite reasons - like the fact his wife is still gone in this timeline.
And the truth is, even just being a decent person is often enough to make massive changes in one's life.
It really does not take much. Half assed is better than not done, you know?
