    Excellent video!
    I had a KRONOS for about four years.
    I no longer have the KRONOS.
    Even though KRONOS has a superior sequencer, i like the MODX sequencer better.
    I can get the creative juices flowing better with my MODX pattern sequencer.

    I have both the Kronos and the Fantom and i find it faster for the Fantom or MODX to record and get an idea out there, but when i really want to lay it down and Able in control of the work flow it is kronos. Being a Triton and Kronos owner i can easily say that sequencing on the Korg are nice, but when it comes to speed and not having to tap around a whole lot i have to lean more towards MODX or Fantom. I actually find myself mainly on the kronos, but having both keyboards has been very valuable for song writing and composing. Glad you mentioned the Limit on the Fantom (that part annoys me about the fantom, but it is what it is.. lol) . Great coverage on the sequencers Really loved seeing this comparison!

      Thanks for watching I appreciate it. The thing about the Fantom is that it is always being updated. Who knows all the features it will have in the future? I rarely use the sequencer in the Kronos anymore. I use an MPC One with my hardware (see my most recent video) or Ableton. If I want to just bring down the level of my hi-hat in my drum track after hearing the mix, I can't really do that with the Kronos. With no piano roll, editing notes is an absolute pain and adding all insert effects separately or "copying from program" just makes the workflow so disjointed now. I used to use the Triton, M50 and the Kronos sequencers but after moving to a DAW and coming back, I simply can't do it anymore. It's just too dated.

      Kronos is in another league. The O/S is light years beyond yamaha or roland. Very deep and mature since the triton way back. The Kurzweil is similar but with all the other incredible features not really an issue(imo).

    Great video as always Darrick, i started out with the SY77, then later MotifXS, M3 & later an M50 (as amazing as it is. I just couldn't work with Karma on m3 so went to M50).. so im used to hardware linear sequencers.. because i compose movie soundtracks and Yoga/ relaxation music, for me.. if Yamaha updated the Modx sequencer to 512 or even 999 measures.. it would be perfect.. but im puzzled why modern developers have stepped backwards to the old pattern sequencers of the 1970s & 80s drum machines (TR808, 909 & RY8, RY10).. strange.. i just hope Roland sees sense and Yamaha pushes their sequencers on.. great video, keep up the great work ❤️👍

    These were originally boards that didn't directly compare. The Kronos was the full workstation. It's the last of the kind. There haven't been any direct competitors for it for a few years. The Montage and then MODX didn't have any sequencer at all on release. They were synth only boards. Yamaha's mindset was that everyone had moved to using desktops or laptops so they put the focus on using the board for DAW control and as an audio/midi interface. Cubase being the DAW of choice for Yamaha.
    Then users started demanding extra features and a sequencer. So now you have that one as a scratchpad kind of deal.
    Worth comparing with Roland's FA boards and the new Fantom. FA sequencer (linear) is fine as a scratchpad and for making bits and pieces that you don't need anything sophisticated for. Again, Roland know that most people don't want or need what the Kronos offers because most everyone moved into desktop/laptop production. So the FA has decent interface/DAW control features. New Fantom sequencer is for the Ableton generation. Patterns. Nowhere near as sophisticated as the Kronos because it doesn't need to be. Slightly oddly the Fantom currently only integrates well with Logic and Mainstage on Mac.

      All the hardware workstation users that abandoned keyboards in favor of laptops & desktops,do not realize the value of owning a Kronos or Nautilus.Sometimes,one needs a break from the tedium of dealing with desktop glitches & incompatibility issues...along with wrestling with the temptation of adding more VST's than you need & bloating your PC.When writer's block hits,seeking inspiration from Korg's combination mode for instance,is a great way to bolster creativity.The sound libraries made for the Kronos/Nautilus are very unique & can be a source of inspiration not found on a desktop.Also...doing a portion or the bulk of your work on the Kronos/Nautilus & then exporting it to one's desktop DAW,can really preserve the much needed HD space & processing power that is a constant problem with PC's.Korg has always done the workstation thing better than any other company,which is why they are still in production,whereas everyone else falls short or abandoned the workstation concept altogether.

    Big point of contention among Kronos owners, being the lack of the piano roll editor found in the older M3 and much cheaper Krome. Hard to call it “full-featured” without that.

    • @darrickkeels6387
      @darrickkeels6387  4 года назад +1

      When I say fully featured I am referring to what it can actually do. A piano roll allows you to edit notes, and draw them in fairly simple fashion. You can edit notes and "draw" them in on the Kronos, albeit it's quite the laborious task.😂😂

      You made some very good points between the two sequencers. You also showed me some things that maybe I never even took into account. For me though, when I buy a workstation I buy it for that reason; so I don’t have to use a computer to compose my music. I spend the extra money for a comparable keyboard sequencer that can do it all without me having to turn on the computer. For me sometimes the computer is a distraction.
      Between those two sequences, I like the Korg better because I can get my work done completely without the computer interaction at all. I know the Montage/ MODX have come along way, but they push me to use Cubase. That is not my weapon of choice when it comes to DAW’s. The Motif XF did that as well, but at least you could compose your joint in there much easier than the Montage/MODX, but you showed me ways in which I understand the workflow better.
      It’s more of a personal choice when you break it down though. For me, when I buy a workstation, I buy it for it to be as such.
      Great video and keep up the outstanding work!

      Thanks for the compliment! I appreciate your viewership. As far as the preset arps/patterns are concerned, they cannot be edited per se. Now, you could always record the arps in the sequencer and overdub over them adding cymbal hits for example. But you cannot go in and change the note data on the presets themselves. You can always start from scratch and make your own arps though.

    cool video! I´ve just sold my Kronos 73 and bought a MODX8. Am I nuts? Not really. Kronos has a superb keybed RH3 second to none, some amazing patches indeed, but after six years it sounded Korg-ish, the metallic Korg signature tone. Also, the Kronos 73 weighs 25 kilos. Now I have the MODX8, sounds Yamaha-ish which means warm pads and bright pianos. It lacks the huge library of realistic sounds of the Kronos and the mind-boggling complexity of the Linux-based Kronos DAW (yes, the Kronos is actually a DAW with a keyboard). But the Korg DAW user interface is not for the faint hearted, don´t even try. The MODX sequencer is... a sequencer! Yeah, bread and butter and some cheese. Save $2000 for another gear.

    I love the old school keyboard sequencer like the Yamaha w7 motif es which allows you to do audio on a track and pattern based Yamaha dx7 2fd with the grey matter E! Board.
    Of course for mastering a daw with a huge screen on the computer can be way more productive with its multitude of options and intricate editing.
    However that can some time have you messing up your original work by over editing over producing mixing mastering simoly because you can...i prefer to do everything including audio on the keyboard with nothing else.
    But since most manufacturers refuse to give us that option in an easy way audio is usually done on computer.
    .i mean we have the touch screens, ssds are cheap.
    There is no reason why cubase, logic, abelton, is not integrated with the complete keyboard control, or audio sampling, built in sounds, from roms, and sampler, fm, analogue, wavable. Virtual, modeled, plus full multi track anaoluge audio tracks, with complete mixing, efx, editing, and mastering plugins, all without a separate computer.
    Usbc and tb3 can allow for a larger screen, keyboard, mouse control, or iPad touch control.
    Indeed, I look at native instruments komplete, with full sampling, and thousands of sounds, and many sound engines, it's awesome, their kontrol series keyboards, and audio interfaces, nice, just add a full sequencer, like abelton logic cubase, with hardware control, iPad the cheapest one for full touch control, plug ins pedals, after touch, outputs, inputs, add the cheapest m1 mac mini, with all of its inputs, and outputs, and you should be able to for $3000, or less you have a truly complete system, but there are too many separate parts, it can and should all be one keyboard, and one removable tablet interface.

    I often use RPPR on my Triton Extreme. I learned something new from watching this video. I always thought that Mode=Endless meant that once started, you could only stop that pattern by pressing an RPPR shutoff key (C-2 or lower). But @12:55 you said "I can stop one of them" and I was like wait, what? You were pressing the same key again to turn off the Mode=Endless pattern that you started earlier. I tried it on my Extreme, and sure enough it works! This allows using RPPR like the pads on Roland workstations to start and stop patterns without having to hold down the key or pad. Korg should have named that Mode=Toggle not Mode=Endless! Thanks - great instructional videos.

    • @williamshaneblyth
      @williamshaneblyth 2 года назад +1

      from yamaha site
      If a sustain pedal plugged into a Yamaha keyboard is producing the opposite effect - sustaining when the pedal is not depressed, and not sustaining when it is depressed - it's usually because (a) the pedal was plugged in while the keyboard was turned on, or (b) the pedal was depressed while the unit was powering on. This tricks the keyboard into thinking the default state of the pedal is depressed, resulting in a reverse polarity or reverse function. There's an easy way to remedy this:
      1) With the unit turned on and the sustain pedal plugged in, depress and hold the sustain pedal while you power the unit off.
      2) Release the sustain pedal once the unit has been turned off.
      3) Turn the unit back on.
      That usually fixes reversal of polarity, and if you're using a non-Yamaha sustain pedal, those sometimes have polarity switches that may solve the problem without need for the steps above.

    Wow Darrick. I was a little surprised that you chose to Yamaha but I have to say that I saw it coming as you described the workflow of each keyboard. I also really appreciate your videos, knowledge and insight into music production. Honestly I don't know which sequencer style is best for me, the last sequencer I used was the Casio CTK 601. I used it back from maybe 1997 or so, to maybe 2010 or so. it had a little 6 track recorder in it and I used to record my songs and beats onto cassette tapes. I've always wanted a full 88 weighted key keyboard with a sequencer. It seems like linear is more closely related to the Casio sequencer that I used, but I'm not sure. I've been looking at the Oasys, Kronos, Fantom G8, Triton Studio, M3 and so on. I even liked the Kurzweil K2600xs but the screen is so small. Which keyboards do you think would be best for me. I prefer a large screen because I'm visually impaired. Thanks for your time and consideration.

    • @darrickkeels6387

      Thank you for watching. I appreciate it. I chose the Yamaha because it's just a faster workflow. I touch a track, pick an instrument, loop length and record. The instruments already have their effects with them, the screens aren't cluttered with all kinds of parameters so it is easier to touch what you see. As far as what would work best for you...I would say the Montage/MODX. Mainly because the screen is easier to see than the Kronos. And the Yamaha gives you the option of enlarging the text. Now, the loop recording may take some getting used to. But again you can record up to 256 measures before looping. Chances are, your song can be completed in that amount of measures. If not, you can switch scenes and just pick up where you left off. Just my recommendation. Thanks for the compliments.

    • @darrickkeels6387
      @darrickkeels6387  3 года назад +1

      No the keybed action of the 7 is exactly like the 6. The only difference is the amount of keys. As far as the MODX sounding like VSTs and plastic, I think that is a matter of opinion. First, all VST's are NOT the same. If you are playing the stock grand piano sound that comes with Logic, its quality is not going to be akin to Spectrasonics Keyscapes. Playing strings found in Ableton Live's software is not going to be anywhere near Spitfire Audio strings. Just think most major filmmakers are using VST's to create their soundtracks. Do major blockbuster movies' music sound "plastic?" As far as a synthesizer is concerned the MODX is more powerful than the Krome. However the Krome is a workstation. Maybe what is needed are keyboards with seamless integration with external devices where it is simple to import and export VST's, daws and production software. Multiple assignable switches knobs, faders and "super-faders" as well as expression wheels and joysticks and strips would allow the onboard keyboard "character" to change depending on the user's work-flow and performance
    preferences. This already seems to be the case with the Nord stage , Genos and Kronos workstations and high end Novation midi control devices. If I were designing a keyboard I would prefer more than one usable touch screen and a dedicated slot for a smart phone or medium sized tablet that could ultimately act as another sound engine as well as an interface device. I believe a musician should not be limited by the amount of interface switches that are installed on a device or the limits of sound engine and storage upgradability, but by their choice in voice and rhythm patches as well as unique registrations and scene mixes. Also, the user's choice in system or software upgrades and perhaps even physical module or part upgrades. The needs of composition, different performance and practice needs should be accommodated by the degree of flexibility of the internal system of any keyboard/workstation rather than the variety of interfaces or software initially loaded on any machine imo. And key-weighting, sensitivity to touch and velocity as well as weighting and texture are important as well as overall weight of the keyboard.

      What you speak of would be nice. Being able to import and export VST's, DAWS and other production software would be a dream come true. However, "hardware" would more than likely loose its stability. What you are basically describing is a computer. Lots of people who buy hardware, especially those who perform live are willing to sacrifice the power of software for the stability of hardware.

    I don't theres any right/wrong answer for anyone. It all depends on your workflow and what system you know. The Kronos seems to have many step to create a track. To be fair I've had the ES8 and now the Montage 8 different workflow...theres a 20yr gap between the systems and is more like 100yrs in tech yrs. Like someone said in your comments not many people use the stand alone to make a song they use there favorite DAW. I use the stand alone just for a quick idea and to practice w/the metronome. Excellent comparison but for me that KRONIS sequencer is the best. Yeah okay if you're going to use a DAW to produce your work, then the MODX/Montage might be good enough, but for someone that wants to record their music on their keyboards as well as audio, the KRONOS wins that hands down. Also I'm not sure whether the MODX/Montage does it or not (I'm guessing it does), but if you want to connect the KRONOS to the computer to record your music, you don't need an audio interface. Only a USB cable and obviously downloading the drivers from either the website or the accessory disk. Again I'm not sure whether the MODX/Montage does it too.

      It really depends on how you want to work. If a person only wants to work with hardware and wants the most powerful hardware option, then the Kronos is it. It's a "true" workstation, complete with a sampler, fully featured sequencer, a bevy of sounds, sound engines and a dizzying array of editing features. But for an overall quicker workflow, and performance focused features, the Yamaha takes the cake. Furthermore it is designed to work with a DAW. So there are more outputs via USB versus the Kronos which only sends a left and a right. Once you pair the Yamaha with a DAW...the Kronos is no longer even in the race. A DAW is simply more powerful than any standalone hardware setup. Virtually every major professional studio uses a DAW as its centerpiece.

    Fantastic videos in this serie Man! I have the Kronos 88 LS (and a crazy lot of stuff in my pc daw) and i must say that the Kronos learning curve is really so hard and vertical (and i'm still learning stuff after over 2 years, even with the help of your videos!)... but the editing and post-prod power and flexibility is really endless. So my thought is that a more (brutally) simple workflow is far better when you are writing and searching ideas and inspiration, while the Kronos is more on the tech side like you are in a recording studio. The thing that I really hate in the Kronos ecosystem is that if one have - like me - a giant collection of EXs libraries of sounds (basically all the stuff that comes from Korg, KAPro, KARo, Sound Iron... you name it...) you CAN'T build you own custom user PCG selecting and combining sounds from the differnt libraries you have... so if you want use different those differnt souinds from different libraries... you must record tracks on an external DAW. This IDIOT thing make the "workstation" concept of the Kronos like a man without a leg!!! I've asked around... even about an external software editor that can do that job... but nothing...and this is really CRAZY!!!
    Anyway... keep going with your videos man... are really great!!!
    BTW... just one question: while you were recording the singles loop sequences the only sound was from the instrument you were playing. Can you cue the other pre-recorded loops from the other sounds? This can be useful to get more "feel" and organic integration between the loops (say... drums and bass... or whatever you are overdubbing).

    • @synphonix123
      @synphonix123 2 года назад +1

      @@darrickkeels6387 This is true. But there is sort of a workaround. If you go back to the top level of the sequencer, select the track with the sound you want to play and record to, check the RPPR box, and start the existing loops. Then you can play along with them and then hit record to record measures into that track. When you're done, go back to the RPPR/Pattern menu, set the length of a new user pattern, and use "Get from Track" to pull measures you recorded in the sequencer track into the RPPR user pattern. You could then go back to the sequencer and erase those measures in that track since they are now stored in a pattern. It's a lot of back-and-forth, but it works. It could have / should have been made easier - just by adding the RPPR checkbox on the RPPR pattern edit page.

It is more of a broad "umbrella" term. There have been many advances in the sound engine in the past 20-30 years. Hence a Montage sounds lightyears better than an SY55. Samples are much larger now and can contain so much more detail. The Motif Classic had a ROM size of 84MB. The Motif XF 741MB. The MODX contains 5.67GB of samples. Yeah...they all fall under the category of AWM2 but they are not the same.

      Depends on definition of N times as good. It has 9 synth engines instead of 2. It is full-blown sampler workstation, plus audio recording plus studio mastering workstation. Then one can dig deeper into specs, e.g. its sequencer is a full-blown workstation sequencer although it is a step back from M3 that was even more powerful and more editing features. So feature-wise the price difference is quite OK... but it comes with insane complexity, too, you can spend a lifetime in just the one STR-1 physical model engine let alone all 9... if you are into sound design. So "better" very depends what one wants, comparison is between a full HW workstation vs. a 2-engine synth with some workstation-like elements in it...

Recording your own scenes on the Korg Kronos and having them playback and sync to the master clock is a very tough task that requires the use of Karma and possibly an external editor. The competitors do. And the MODX's ancestors (MOXF), also were more capable in that regard. So it's kinda expected. Plus, the Montage shares the same limitations... and it's a $2500 synth. I love the Kronos but it has the same operating system as the 2005 Korg Oasys. Fifteen years old is an eternity in a "tech" industry. So yes currently the Kronos is the most powerful workstation in the world. But Korg better be careful the gap is closing quickly by other companies. Musicians needs have changed and so their tools need to change as well. There was a time when no company could match the realism of Kurzweil. Now Yamaha, Korg, Roland, and even Nord have surpassed them. They "rested" because they were the most powerful, designed for only the "elite." Along came the Trinity, Triton, Motif and now Kurzweil is nowhere to be found and they lack the sells to do the necessary R&D to put them back on top. Same thing can happen to Korg.

      @@darrickkeels6387 true, the Kronos is just an updated oasys with minor upgrades. But I honestly feel korg was way ahead of their time with the oasys back in 05. That’s why they were so highly priced. And in 15 years other brands are barely matching Korgs innovative oasys tech which is now the Kronos. I assume Korg has not come out with another flagship workstation because they haven’t seen a serious threat from competitors to their Kronos. Judging from this video the MODx does look nice and packs a punch for the price, but the Kronos still surpasses it, with technology that came out 15 years ago. It might be an eternity in tech years, but that’s how long it’s taking the competition to catch up. But like you said Darrick, Korg shouldn’t feel to confident either.

    • @darrickkeels6387
      @darrickkeels6387  3 года назад +2

      The Kronos was indeed ahead of it's time. A good 15 years ahead in fact. But there are key ways that the Kronos is inferior to even the MODX today. The Kronos sends out two channels via usb. The MODX sends out 10. (The Montage sends out 32.) When working with a DAW this is a MAJOR advantage. The MODX FMX sound engine has 8 operators as opposed to six in the Kronos. The MOD-7 is 52-voice polyphony as opposed to the 64-voices in the MODX. (128-Voices in the Montage). MODX doesn't have Program/Combination modes. So in practice its workflow is inherently faster at layering sounds and mixing various timbres. The MODX has about three times the arps of the Korg Kronos. And sonically it is not inferior to the Korg. It is on the same level, though a person may prefer the sounds in the Kronos. But that is a matter of preference, not quality. All of that and it's just over half the price of a Kronos. A person could purchase a MODX8, computer, DAW, studio monitors, headphones, keyboard stand, case, and a soft synth collection from Native Instruments with over 10,000 presets for the price of just a Kronos. That's something to think about. The Kronos is the most powerful standalone. But most musicians incorporate other gear when doing full blown productions. The market for standalone workstations that do not incorporate well with software is certainly shrinking.

      @@AbdiPianoChannel Ah...yes. That's understandable. The difference between the Montage and the Motif Series is that the Motif was a workstation but the Montage is a synthesizer. It prioritizes sound quality, sound design, realtime morphing and tweeking, motion sequencing, and DAW integration. Having a powerful sequencer is not where they want to use the keyboard's limited onboard resources.

    I can not believe that when recording in the sequencer of the kronos you can not hear any of the previous recorded track that you have already played,All my tritons I had you could do that! That alone. would make the kronos Seq. useless to me!

      If you are not using RPPR and just select certain measures to loop while recording, you can hear every track play back. But without RPPR you aren’t recording a loop. With the MODX/Montage you get a true pattern sequencer.

      When I first started buying professional music equipment there were no video reviews. I had to sit down and read user reviews rife with typos, run on sentences, a lack of punctuation, and sentences that contained no subject and verb agreement. I'd spend hours sifting through pages and pages of reading so that I could get an understanding of what a real user experienced when operating a keyboard. I never critiqued the free content that someone else spent the time to type up for other potential users to read because I understood they didn't have to post anything. I was the beneficiary of the work they put in. Now, we live in a time where you can literally watch someone demo not one, but two keyboards and navigate these complicated machines in less than one hour. However it's still "3X longer than it needs to be." These keyboards can cost over $4000. I believe watching a video with too many undos is worth it, if it saves you from a $4000 mistake. Plus you could take your finger or mouse and simply scroll ahead a smidge when I undo if you lack the time to watch the video in its entirety. That's what drives me nuts about the comment section. People can't help but tell you how the content could be better to them, when it's free and didn't cost them nearly the time investment it cost one to create it. With that said, thank you for the compliment.

      No, when using the pattern sequencer of the Kronos, it's hard for me to create music that sounds good on the fly because each part is played separately. Without the other tracks to play off of it's really difficult for me to flow. I know how to use it but never do, for this reason. But I wanted to demonstrate it so people know it's an option. Once I switched to using the regular linear sequencer, I achieved better results.

      The sequencer in both the MODX and the Montage work exactly the same way. The only real difference would show up if I wanted two insert effects on more than 12 channels and if I was using FMX sounds, I’d get more polyphony with the Montage. I used no FM sounds and was nowhere near the effects limit for this demonstration.

      @@darrickkeels6387 Not to inject myself into this, but editability - if, big if, one uses a workstation for its end-to-end features, then a fully editable built-in sequencer is essential. MODX and Montage have what Yamaha call a Performance Recorder... all and any real editing has to happen outside it, instead of the built-in sequencer. Footnote is that annoyingly, Korg made a huge step back from M3 - the M3 sequencer had vastly more editing built in, Kronos trimmed e.g. piano roll editing presumably as they copied OASYS and simplified a few things.
      Somebody summarised MODX/Montage limitations even compared to Motif, so Yamaha, too took a step backward but in this case understandable, as Motif and Montage are different product categories: yamahamusicians.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11682

    • @LeventeZone
      @LeventeZone 4 года назад +1

      Kronos has fully editable sequencer indeed, although a big step back from M3. MODX/Montage is merely a performance recorder. Sure, if one says well I use outboard DAW for all my editing, that's fine , but if one really makes use of the built-in sequencer, then Kronos is simply vastly superior for its editability. It is a full workstation after all, not a synth with some workstation feature elements bolted on top. They are in two completely different product categories, even Yamaha was upfront about at launch.

    • @darrickkeels6387
      @darrickkeels6387  4 года назад +1

      @@LeventeZone You are correct my friend. The Montage is not a workstation. Still currently today the Kronos is the most powerful workstation on the market. Period. With that said Yamaha has purposefully withdrawn from the "workstation" game and opted for a powerful performance synth instead. Roland has a workstation but it doesn't have a full featured sequencer either. They opted for a loop based sequencer, with an Ableton Live style format. This is clearly catered toward the gigging musician. They also made integration with MainStage a high priority because of how many musicians are using MainStage for their soft synths in live situations. Zencore technology brings all of Roland's rich heritage to the forefront with deep editing capabilities and the ability to share sounds across various instruments like the MC-707. They are pushing the Roland Cloud. The Yamaha offerings come with Cubase software (Yamaha owns Steinberg). The Roland FA08 has a stripped down sequencer and is nothing like the Fantoms of yesteryear. Basically if a person wants a new workstation that is designed to be an all in one solution, their options are very very limited. Workstations are losing (or have lost) their steam. There was a day that every major professional studio had a keyboard workstation as a main tool. Those days are gone. And the major manufacturers are now a bit shy about putting their investments in an ever shrinking and aging market. I personally would like to see a "Kronos 3" which is 10 years ahead of its time again. But I am not sure I would want to read through another 1100+ page manual again. 😂 There has to be a balance between complexity and simplicity. KARMA is an example of a highly powerful feature that is under utilized because no one seems to really know how to use it beyond its basic features. I prefer to work with hardware. It's what I learned on. But now that I have a lot more paying clients and customers to please often with deadlines, I reach for the tool that can get the job done quickest and easiest. As my options grow...sadly...I am reaching for the Kronos less and less.

    • @LeventeZone

      @@darrickkeels6387 Great that you mention Karma, it is diabolically underutilised as it seems to mistify many people... I tried sometimes to blog and exemplify how it can be used for things completely outside the arpeggiator-type functions, where it can be truly insane... But with the complexity of it, probably most just trigger some patterns at best... It is a great source of inspiration, too, often a whole track's idea came about because of happy accidents with Karma, triggering something it was never supposed to be used for :)
