My mom and dad used to dance to this on their boat. Dad died in 95. When my mom was dying at home in 2018, I played this for her, hoping it would bring good memories, and she would go towards dad who would help her cross. I know they are together in the afterlife listening to this.

What a handsome man Julio was, in my opinion far more handsome than his sons. Very talented and charismatic too, I had the pleasure of seeing him in concert in 2012. At the time, he was 69 years old and still was as charming as ever. He truly distillates masculinity; his voice, his presence, his demeanor. Not many today like him. My parents loved him as I was growing up (1990's) he was and is an icon all over the world and specially to those of Spanish descend. Although he is a dear memory of my childhood, only in adulthood was I able to truly understand his charm. Long live Julio!

This was a song my mom and dad would play on their boat and dance to after I was an adult, and liked my parents as people (not just as parents). They truly loved each other. When my mom was home in hospice and I was caring for her (acute kidney failure/then heart issue when they hit her aorta during placement of permacath so she could do outpatient dialysis), I would play songs from this album for my mom, when she was semi comatose. And I would talk to her about good times on the boat, and that Dad was waiting for her (he passed in 95, her in 2018). Sad song in a way, but also a song that makes me feel close to them.

My father departed 13 long years ago but I still have my mother in my life and appreciate each passing day I spend with her ... and yes, this Julio song sung in English by him is exceptional as well. After all these years, its the first time I've seen the original video. It leaves out the last lines "Seems it never rains in Southern California". Sadly, that wasn't true this past week!
Always liked how one could hear that line in the song. A tribute to the songwriter Albert Hammond who also wrote "Midnight Lady" in addition to "It Never Rains In Southern California" and "99 Miles from L.A." Julio Iglesias also covered that song which was popularized by Art Garfunkel. Small musical world, huh?

Reminds me of when i visited Cyprus with the love of my life, we had only been together about 1 year, dinning in the harbour restaurants in Paphos. He sadly died 2 years later, from cancer, i was beyond heartbroken, bereft for many years. This song transports me back there, and all the wonderful love we shared, i love you darling Peter, till we meet again my handsom love x x x.
I still have Julio's 1100 Bel Air Place album on cassette from when I was a kid. I recently got the same album on CD. It's nice to hear an album I grew up listening to, once again. I jam out to this song in my car!
