    So that's how it's done! Great information there, useing GPS. Do you do some pre-season scouting, finding good locations, before day one of trapping reason? Especially when your setting up in the dark. You put a lot of effort into your video's, thanks for sharing!

    • @Biglandtrapper
      @Biglandtrapper  8 лет назад

      +Minktrappingpaddy You welcome, I don't do much scouting for marten trapping but for beaver & otter I do quiet a bit, usually in the fall combine a little hunting with some trapping scouting, maybe throw in a boilup, makes for a great day....

  • @Biglandtrapper
    @Biglandtrapper  12 лет назад

    It was either beaver or turbot I mix it up a bit, gotta be careful with the seal fat, don't want to get that on the fur, hard to come off ..!!

  • @Biglandtrapper
    @Biglandtrapper  11 лет назад

    I use many different types but barnes marten magic is one I use often, going to try out some new types this year, looking forward to it, I'll show it in later vids ..!!

    I prefer when my fur hangs away from the box and tree. Prevents fur slip and mice damage

  • @Biglandtrapper
    @Biglandtrapper  12 лет назад

    I use different types of bait but turbot (Greenland Halibut), some salt & some frozen fresh is what I use most. I also like smelts, caplin, mackeral, seal meat, & beaver meat. Thank's for the comment ..!!

    Strange to see that you are allowed to hunt martens in that part of the world. Those bastards do a lot of harm to our households and other property, but it is against the law to kill any. There is even a certain insurance for marten damages. Greetings from Hungary!

    • @Biglandtrapper
      @Biglandtrapper  10 лет назад +2

      We have a very healthy population of marten here in Labrador, our wilderness areas are vast. Labrador being sparsely populated we don't have problems with property damage. Sounds like a bit of trapping would be good in your area, keep the population under control. Always interesting to get insights from other parts of the world, thank you ...!!

    Wish we had martin here to trap. Dont even have weasels any more and Mink have gotten so bad we see them killed on the roads any time you come by a pond or creek. No money for them thanks to the mink farmers so nobody traps them any more.
