This is my new Doom3 playthrough in celebration of its 20th anniversary. This time around I'm using og Doom3 instead of the BFG Edition and play in full 4K resolution.
Doom3 is often cited as the black sheep of the Doom franchise. It was a reboot, but instead of focusing in the action, it focused on the fact that people shat their pants with the original Doom back in the day. So we have a much slower, darker game, with a weaker player character, with jumpscares and very creepy passages with resembles a survival horror experience rather than a Doom one. It was also critiqued for its weak shotgun, abuse of closet monsters, lackluster multiplayer and the fact that you can't use a flashlight and a weapon at the same time (though this adds to the creepy experience imho).
But Doom3 is basically a product of its time, where shooters were headed to a full linear, narrative experience... And they tried to follow the trend. It did have some cool features though, the interactive consoles are neat, the lightning is amazing, the atmosphere is well achieved, and honestly... it still manages to look awesome at times nowadays.

Este es mi playthrough de Doom3 en celebración de su 20 aniversario. Esta vez estoy usando el Doom3 en lugar de la BFG Edition y jugando en resolución 4K.
Doom3 es señalado habitualmente como la oveja negra de la franquicia Doom. Fue un reboot, pero en lugar de fijarse en la acción, se fijó en el hecho de que la gente se cagaba encima con el Doom original en su día. Así que tenemos un juego mucho más lento, oscuro, con un jugador débil, con jumpscares y pasajes muy tenebrosos que recuerdan más a un survival horror que a Doom. Tambien fue criticado por su escopeta débil, abuso de monstruos en armarios, multijugador pobre y el hecho de que no puedes usar una linterna y un arma a la vez (aunque honestamente esto aporta a la experiencia tétrica).
Pero Doom3 es básicamente un producto de su época, donde los shooters ofrecían experiencias lineales y narrativas... E intentaron seguir la moda. Ofrecía unas características bastante majas, las consolas interactivas están muy chulas, la iluminación es increíble, la atmósfera está bien conseguida y honestamente todavía luce genial en muchas ocasiones hoy día.

Doom 3 was no doubt a guilty pleasure of mine when I was growing up. It's different compare to the other Doom games (even the newer games), but it has it's charm.
The irony of Id Software more or less remaking/reimagining Half-Life 1 while Valve was making Half-Life 2.
Happy to see this! Really like Doom 3, even with it's shortcomings. Fond memories of being too scared to play certain sections while still in school XD
2:10 playing with Trent Reznor sounds I see :) IMO that mod is essential for pistol sound alone. But it makes this funny overlap with OG's voice files.

At the time, I was looking forward to Doom 3 more then to Half Life 2.

I'm convinced back in the day Id wanted to actually make a horror game, with the fact of Doom's concept being literally ALIEN but with demons, guess they take advantage to the momenr and just made a horror game
Seen playthrough of the BFG Edition but will watch this ... not bad game at all and you rock on FPS playthroughs !

For Turbo Turkey Puncher 3 you need to set a high score and you will get an e-mail from it on your PDA. I believe it was something like over 20 a 25k? And i believe an achievement.

@@pagb666 Just looked it up, and it indeed was a 25k score to get the achievement e-mail to your PDA. I believe you can play this game one more time in this Doom 3 run. Or else it was destroyed by those demons.
Did you also know about the hidden ID logo near the cyberdemon boss? It gives a mail and not sure if it also gives an achievement.
Yeah, this playlist is already out of order, I'd say fix it once its fully released though

Good luck with the secrets. Ɓecause you dont even know what can be considered a secret and what is not. The engine is too cluncky to play with tricky jumps
