This is my favourite Lucy cover. Her voice is so open across the range, something few artists can emulate. Most female singers in particular have very nasal head voices. Especially Dion when she covered this. Very difficult to tell when Lucy crosses from chest to head voice. Diction is perfect, pitch perfect and the control of voice and support is incredible.
Eric is definitely an amazing song writer. I grew up to all his hits and sang them all to the radio in my car. Vocally, Lucy is all by herself at the top of the mountain. If only Eric would write a few songs for Lucy then we might just have the best of both worlds?👍❤️
Thank you so much, for playing Lucys cover of All By Myself. She is my favorite singer, and there's knowone like her. She can sing any song to perfection.
@@thomasn3882 Maybe she knows what she's doing! She has a fantastic group to back her up and she has an outstanding songwriter for her musical, "Rosie", by the name of Chris Broom! The late Whitney Houston did not write her own music so your observation is irrelevant.
(Footprints in The Sand). ( In The Arms of an Angel )with her sister Martha And Lucys song (Broken Dreams) from the Musicals( Rosie,) which is coming out in 2024 I believe.Lucy has done so many covers at the age of 14/ 15 and 16 years old.
Eric Carmen sing this song. She can sing any song's and makes it her own song's. She is the best of the best singer in this world today. Amazing voice and beautiful tone quality.
Yes I agree. Eric Carmen is certainly a great singer. No doubt about it. But Lucy on the other hand is phenomenal. It is hard to quantify what makes Lucy so amazing. So many aspects of her voice are astounding and unique to her alone. She is as close to perfection as one could ever dream of approaching. Yet Lucy makes it look effortless. Her talent is beyond reproach.
So agree! Maybe it’s the difference between male and female? Also maybe it was it a little on recording technique with a 40 year difference Not disagreeing and I will listen to both of them again closer Thanks George

Is this the best performance that Lucy has ever given? It could well be and that’s saying something because without exception, all of her performances are without vocal peer. She is the best and this may well be her best. I couldn’t argue against that assertion.
Difficult, always, to compare a male and a female singer. It is often the case, too, that a song's composer is able to extract a little something extra from the song. I love both versions. Eric squeezes more sadness out of the lyrics, but Lucy turns the melody into a big production, full of passion. Invidious to compare - let's just enjoy both versions for what they are
It is difficult to accept another version to the iconic song that you’re grown up with and loved, which means it’s even more difficult for another artist to surpass it. I had months of reflection about Lucy. I was at first against her being compared to my legends and the greats, and like you I did personal comparison listening, actually wanting Lucy to fail. It’s down to personal taste and own ears. I prefer a clean voice and clear singing, but others like a lived voice with character and mumble. Credit should always be given to the originals that made it a successful song to begin with, no matter who reinvents it. Refreshing to hear a man’s voice after myself listening 100 Lucy Thomas tracks and comparisons, not that I didn’t love every one of them. I like both versions, however Lucy is a far better singer and cleaner and I do prefer that. Listening both side by side now, Lucy’s voice just digs into me and I feel the song inside. Lucy’s version is much more dramatic. I like both but prefer Lucy Thomas - again. I seem to be saying this all the time...
Would be great to see you do another comparison featuring Lucy with her sister Martha. Their most recent duet covering Miley Cyrus’s ‘The Climb’ would be a great choice.
There is really no depth or pitch to the first guy's voice........then Lucy Thomas takes the stage and your search into your soul begins and she takes over...........
@E-mail one thing I can guarantee you will not hear Lucy screaming theatrically on any of her albums. Perfect control and dynamics is all you will find, assume you didn't listen as anyone with a musical ear can tell that.
