- Actor Akshay Kumar inaugurated the 5th season of HT's Great Indian Football Action (HT GIFA) in New Delhi on Saturday. During an exclusive interview on the sidelines of the mega event, Akshay talked about fitness in general, Akshay Kumar revealed people are taking shortcuts in their effort to achieve a chiseled physique. He believes that people should not leave dairy products like ghee, milk or curd in their pursuit of better fitness levels.

Whey is good ( derived from whole foods like milk, plants, etc), bcaa (present in whey and food, not the supplement) is good for recovery, creatine is a researched preworkout product, multivitamins are well multivitamins. But all this being said nutrition from food is the real deal. Remember these are supplements. It's meant to support or help you fill in what you can't get with the normal food.

Actually an average normal person can get all the vitamins and minerals (even a Vegetarian gets enough protein from veg) he requires from his daily food intake if he eats a balanced diet

He said it’s fine to eat junk sometimes, he said in terms of fitness those protein shakes aren’t needed and that’s true. You don’t need protein shake to be fit/big you can get protein from other sources. In fact protein from Whole Foods brings other health benefits than protein shakes.

Normal foods such as lentils eggs chicken cheese milk yogurt are high in protien and other vitamins which are beneficial. He’s saying protien powder isn’t the only way to growth. Whey is made from milk. Whey is what is left out when paneer is made. It is just as natural as paneer.
Protein supplements are simply used to maintain your daily protein intakes, but these people are promoting that whey protein are some kind of steroids...people those who gym, are athletes, or do any other sports activity, need more protein than a normal human needs, and whey protein helps them to achieve it...

I can understand the point he wanted to make and where he is coming from. As supplements, protein shakes and whatnot does not fulfill the role of nutrients provided by the food which are just capsules and powders, since the dietary fibers are also needed for the body...... I wonder if he's fine with saying all those against supplements and protein shakes since he is a brand ambassador and all. But the fact he came out and said all of these things in order to educate the younger generation despite all the troubles he might get into is really admirable. His advices were Absolute in my opinion and I think even if he is the brand ambassador for the sake of it, he doesn't actually use those at all.... All in all the old traditional stuffs actually did wonders and still does rather than the chemicals in the modern age.

Being fit by working hard and knowing the science behind fitness/nutrition are 2 different things. Nahi pata to bakwaas nahi karni chahiye. His fitness/eating regime might be one way to do it but it is not the only way to do it. There are a lot of different ways one can achieve the same goal. Whey protein is not harmful. Even a 4 year kids health powder or complain has it if you check the label.
I lift heavy 4-5 times a week take all the supplements n eat natural. Supplements are beneficial for people who train intense n are not on steroids. Akshay sir doesn't do heavy lifting.

Whey is a byproduct of cheese making process. Manufacturing companies mantra is 'Nothing should go to waste'. Every waste/byproduct gets sold or reused. Another example is Molasses a byproduct during making refined sugar. I can give a big list but you get the idea.
Whey can cause acute inflammation to the gut. For that matter all animal proteins do. So, stick with Vegan diet and see how your health responds. Its just wonderful

If you are busy then it may be tough to be making food 100% of the time by yourself. In this regard it is better to use a supplement than eat out side food if you are stuck and dont have food.

There is a reason why you shouldnt eat food late night. Because at that time, our metabolism is at its slowest rate. So it takes a lot more time to digest the food, and causes the body to gain fat. In morning, our metabolism is fast, so eat your food at early times.
