  • In this video i paint the hull, but before doing that i make a small device to draw the line so it would be matching both sides of the hull. I use some wood sealer and then i proceed to the painting. This Video comes in 1080p.

      Hi Kevin! It is Nitro Wood Sealer number 1419 and you need also Nitro Thinner. My ships are all made with matt or gloss paint (depends on the shade of the color) and always gloss varnish on top.

      Thanks for the link - a most useful video. I think I am going to use the satin varnish from occre as I have it already so if I have understood correctly I can use a water based polyurethane finish as a sealer to do a similar job. At least to practice with and see what it looks like. Many thanks again.

    Great video as always John, would you be up to showing some examples of different wats to paint your wooden boat's. And do a pro's and con's on different ways? I know what like and why but maybe some people have never done this or that when they paint. Just a thought is all.

    Couple of questions John...
    I would like the info on the sealer please ..it makes the Sapeli wood look great, it's a shame to paint it.
    How old is Wolf?
    I will say it again, your channel is the best for model boat building.
    Looks like the 'Beagle' will be finished before winter comes.

    Hi John. That sealer really made the sapele wood shine. Do you use it when you are only vanishing and not painting. It looks like it would not need a lot of varnish on top to finish it

    • @JohnsWoodenShips
      @JohnsWoodenShips  3 года назад

      Hi David! It would need 2 coats of varnish but in some cases like the masts you can use only one coat. But the result will be great!

    • @JohnsWoodenShips
      @JohnsWoodenShips  2 года назад +1

      Hi Andreas! Thank you very much!!! After you use varnish you cannot sand anything anymore. The varnish goes on last, after all the wood work is done. After applying sealer yes you can sand and apply more sealer. Take your time to watch this one, i believe you will find ti very useful :) ruclips.net/video/uxOsRZTyIq4/видео.html

      Yes you can apply acrylic paint or varnish but no stain. Stain must be applied before anything, on plain wood surface. There isn't a step by step procedure, just paint brush and your paint, also some water for thinner.
