- I set out to make my own pigments using nothing but every day materials and pure experimentation. Turns out, making pigments isn't as simple as I thought (did you know dye and pigment are totally different?). But I was determined! I crushed eggshells for white, boiled cabbage for blue, and even used coffee for brown.
After all that effort, I had to put my pigments to the test... so I turned them into paint and created a full artwork! Did it work? Or did I just make a mess?

This was a fun video, I think you should try again!
@@Kat-K-2 I hate to say it... but I think you are right.
Maybe you could try to make it into a powder and then mix it with egg to use the egg as a binder, creating egg tempera. this should get a much more saturated look. Also I would paint on a canvas and not a paper since paper will suck the medium in and leave a dusty layer of pigment on top.
@@skagenrora1236 that's great advice, thank you! I didn't even consider how the paper was impacting it.
The part I enjoy most is just the journey as you are experimenting in these challenges, makes for a fun watch. It'd be no fun if it worked as planned 😂
@@Eragon185 Thank you for the feedback and I'm glad you enjoyed it! I'm going to continue to try to show the experiments and thought processes more.
