Artists Used to Do This… So I Tried It!
I set out to make my own pigments using nothing but every day materials and pure experimentation. Turns out, making pigments isn't as simple as I thought (did you know dye and pigment are totally different?). But I was determined! I crushed eggshells for white, boiled cabbage for blue, and even used coffee for brown.
After all that effort, I had to put my pigments to the test... so I turned them into paint and created a full artwork! Did it work? Or did I just make a mess?

The Squid Game VIPs Tested My Artistic Skills-Could I Deliver?
Просмотров 4421 день назад
What happens when the VIPs from Squid Game decide they need an artist? They summon ME for the challenge of creating a new mask. Armed with watercolor pencils (which I’ve never used before), I dive into this tense, artistic mission to design a mask that embodies intelligence, strength, and elegance. Will I survive the pressure, or will the VIPs send me packing?

This was a fun video, I think you should try again!
@@Kat-K-2 I hate to say it... but I think you are right.
Maybe you could try to make it into a powder and then mix it with egg to use the egg as a binder, creating egg tempera. this should get a much more saturated look. Also I would paint on a canvas and not a paper since paper will suck the medium in and leave a dusty layer of pigment on top.
@@skagenrora1236 that's great advice, thank you! I didn't even consider how the paper was impacting it.
The part I enjoy most is just the journey as you are experimenting in these challenges, makes for a fun watch. It'd be no fun if it worked as planned 😂
@@Eragon185 Thank you for the feedback and I'm glad you enjoyed it! I'm going to continue to try to show the experiments and thought processes more.

OOOOOOOH GREAT!

Yeah! Do a procreate tutorial!
@@OhJeezMyBad alright, I'll add it to the list.
ALL THE TIME- whenever i try to record a speedpaint, it never ends up being something I'd post. but when I DON'T record, it ends up being really cool :(
OOH YES! procreate tutorial! Perhaps you could compare + contrast with other programs too?
@@tastefulbean great idea! 👏
Looks sick! Guess that's the fun with experimentation, you can try and duplicate it now or iterate!
LOL and then once everything is sorted, you end up unable to find that one thing that was always in that ONE SPOT. that's me after i sort all my art files ToT
@@tastefulbean 💯 spot on.
starving artist trope in the wild LOL
I pick between my groceries and art supplies; the art wins every time
@@Wolfsong957 it's the only option.

How many times has this happened??? 😂
@@Eragon185 At least 5 and counting. 😆
Lemmi help too
@@Toji848 Hey, thank you! You're the best!
True I lose them all the time
@NehemiahEdward-x1t Glad to know I'm not the only one!
No comment let me fix that
Thanks for taking the time to comment. 😊
Great video, I enjoy seeing you interpret the challenge and the challenges you encountered in the process. I also enjoy the music you've been using in your videos so I used that to brainstorm a challenge so here it is. "Art Inspired by Music", create a piece of art that visually interprets the sound, rhythm, or mood of the song.
@@Eragon185 I like it! Tell you what, after the watercolor pencils, I'll do that next. 👏
Great Video and interesting challenge! I can see your channel growing big in the future. Keep up the good work!
@@fionascreativecanvas thank you. 🫶

The shadow i the nose im not sure about, but your work inspire me ❤
@@daniellagos2338 I'm glad to hear you were inspired! I agree, the nose needs some work. This was a 30 minute exercise and the time bested me, haha.
It was really cool seeing you try all these new things!! the graphite powder inside the domino looked so cool!!!
@@tastefulbean thank you! I'm thinking about doing a full set like that.
This was so cool!!! Will you do more in the future? :0
@@tastefulbean thank you 🙌
LOL the mixing of the coffee was so funny!! Awesome video!
@@tastefulbean Thank you, haha! I have to say, my studio smells like a coffee shop now. I'm not complaining...
Excited to see where the challenges take you!

Hi Endr. Jim from Madrid, Spain (a fellow artist and a New Yorker expat living abroad). Just found your channel and wanted to let you know you have a New subscriber! I'm a self-taught artist mainly in pencil, watercolor and gouache. Charcoal has always been a medium which I would love to get into and even though I've tried a bit with it, I know I need some insight and direction with the medium, so I will be following your "lesson plans" as they come out of the oven. BTW... I really like your video editing and how you explain things direct and to the point. Good stuff! Can't wait for the next episode! Cheers from Sunny Spain!! 😁👍😎✌
Hey Jim, thanks so much for the kind words and for subscribing! I'm really glad you're finding the videos helpful. I'm confident that by the end of the series you'll have a strong foundation in drawing fundamentals. Thanks again for the feedback on the editing, it’s much appreciated! Cheers!
Can't wait for more!! ❤
