Brahms composed a set of 21 lively dance tunes, based mostly on Hungarian themes, which were completed in 1869. They are among Brahms's most popular works, and were certainly the most profitable for him. Each dance has been arranged for a wide variety of instruments and ensembles. Brahms originally wrote the version for piano four-hands and later arranged the first 10 dances for solo piano.
While numbers 11, 14 and 16 are entirely original compositions, Brahms was inspired by the traditional Hungarian folk melodies in composing the other dances. The most famous, No. 5 in F♯ minor (G minor in the orchestral version), which Brahms mistakenly thought was a traditional folksong, was based on the csárdás by Béla Kéler titled "Bártfai emlék" (see • Béla Kéler - Bártfai E... at 1:29).

As I mentioned Under Brahms' Hungarian Dance #1, Brahms did not take credit for composing these dances. He used known folk songs and melodies to create these pieces for the piano and later on other composers including Dvorak arranged them for the orchestra. Thank you for providing the information about the original composers.

Isabella Alcantara I agree to you, it just needs a faster and stronger step...and it'll do the job, for example the moment when the violins start to play there should be twist or turning with faster move...it can be done but these kinds of parts need a very precise movement
No. it's because this dance is actually supposed to be to Copellia, Swanhilda and her Friends and they just cut the music and replaced it with Hungarian dance no 5

It's lovely, but the choreography does not match the mood or historical setting of the music. I do not propose pure folk dancing, however I look forward to something that minds the beat and staccato nature, reflected in a bit more percussive style of dance.

Me parece delicioso el ballet , las bailarinas y la música maravillosa , pero no están creadas para estar juntas , la coreografía es de otra pieza musical y se nota mucho , es malo que no dar crédito al coreografío, ni mencionar el nombre del movimientos con otra música distinta que tampoco se tiene la generosidad de brindar . Si quieren crear algo bienvenidos pero no mezclen cosas que no van en detrimento del buen Arte,. gracias.

But its not the actual dance, because the music doesnt fit with the balet moves. Does it have a real version. Because i would love to dance to this music but i dont know exactly wich move i have to do when.

I was shocked to see this dance performed by women - this is a specific men's dance. No matter how gracious these ballerinas are it cannot be compared the force, skills and impact of the men's dance. It is nice but not the ONE.
