    The more you listen to this song and dissect each instrument, the more you start to truly appreciate it. Weird Fishes live would be another great one. Thom and Ed's vocal harmonies are some of the best in rock music.

    The synth is an Odnes Martenot, a very cool and VERY ANALOG electronic instrument. Jonny (the guy playing it) has pretty much singlehandedly brought the instrument out of obscurity. He has several other songs with GREAT parts for that instrument.

    This is one of my favorite Radiohead songs

    you will go crazy with the song "15 step" of this same concert, you will give this song at least a 9, I´m sure.
    crazy bassline and an odd time signature, nothing can go wrong with that

  • @shmvon
    @shmvon 3 года назад +5

    It's a simpler and more accessible Radiohead song, but play the bassline yourself and it just makes you want to go on and on. It's always been one of my favourites. Also, the hook 'where I end and you begin' just resonates with so many situations.

    Hi, my name is Kimber, and I mash up radiohead songs in my head for fun. Lol I love the piggy noises and scoldings, makes me laugh every time.. This is not a top radiohead song for me, but this version is great.. XO

    There are many good things in "from the basement", since they've done two different sessions, one with "in rainbows" and another one with "king of limbs". You've done things from "in rainbows" up until now, but I prefer "king of limbs" such as "bloom" and "staircase". Awesome that you're doing live things, as a musician I really enjoy seeing people playing live and checking out how they do their thing!

    The way they experiment in order to grow as artists makes every release exciting for me personally. The basement vids let you see the process up close, basically final rehearsals before the tour! Thx for the sincerity, I hate it when people pretend to enjoy something to please the viewers

    Great reaction! Most people sing along to the lyrics, you sing along with the bass 😉
    You said you couldn’t rerember if your other “From the basement” reactions got blocked, but as far as I can tell they are all there. From other reactions channels I have watched, I don’t think I have seen any From the Basement stuff being blocked. The music videos is a bit more of a crap shoot though.

    Not a synthesizer; an Ohndes Martinote, which is a key and string-based precursor to the theremin.

    David, you'd love their performance of 'Bangers N Mash' from the same basement sessions. You'll also get to see Thom on drums
    Totally agree about Colin's bass lines on this video

    Radiohead had 4 brilliant albums in a row.....with OK computer being their absolute masterpiece...guess you will have a long list of great songs to react to!!

    • @halfalligator6518
      @halfalligator6518 3 года назад +3

      My modern take is, In rainbows > Kid A > Moon Shaped Pool > Ok Computer > Amnesiac > Hail to the Thief > The Bends.
      It's amazing how much that list has moved and changed over the years for me. Ok Computer is certainly a masterpiece and revolutionary at the time... not sure it's far above the others though. I just don't go back to it nearly as much as the others.

      @@halfalligator6518 Happy to see AMSP getting the respect it deserves. It was an instant classic when they released it and it’s only gotten better with age. One of their best, for sure.

      @@halfalligator6518 Well said, I would probably put Kid A between Ok Computer and Amnesiac but love your ranking!

      @@21Odyssey yeah, they're all good really!. I probably pump up Kid A because it's so trippy and strange... i probably don't actually listen to it as much as some of the others. It's not something you can just put on casually... it demands attention. (they all do... but that one even moreso).
      In fact come to think of it... i never just put Radiohead on casually. It's not really something to put on while entertaining guests or having drinks (unless guests are in a music nerd mood)

    Its time for Daydreaming by Radiohead )
    From the basement i recommend "15 step" , "nude" , "banger and Mush"

    • @THEDavidHeretic
      @THEDavidHeretic  3 года назад

      "Nude" is already in the que, added your name to the requesters. I don't see "15 Step" or "Bangers And Mash" in the que, so they would have to be fresh requests. You can suggest songs on here, and if your suggestion happens to already be in the que, I am more than happy to add your name to the requesters of that song. However in order to make fresh brand new requests, you have to be a Bronze Tier member on the Patreon page. It's only $5 per month and you can make fresh requests, along with watch all the videos I've done that RUclips blocked and participate in Patreon community events and enjoy exclusive content for Patreon members only.

    Enjoying your breakdowns and honesty .
    Refreshing as hell compared to the wanky shills who react to whatever is the hottest reacting band of the moment !
    Hip Hop dude reacts to ( insert band of the week on the reaction hit charts ! ) .
    When not long ago everyone was reacting to Tool with the exception of a small few that were genuine .
    I like how Radiohead don’t rest on their laurels and each album is different .

    Would be interesting if you reacted to "Paperbag Writer" off of Com Lag EP. It's got a stupid title since it's nothing to do with the song it's a pun of, which is a bit annoying, but the song itself is quite a fun departure, very funky simple little bass-driven thing with a groove that gets more infectious as it goes along. There are later versions of it by Thom's supergroup Atoms for Peace but personally speaking, they are kinda redundant and loose a bit of oomph next to the more starkly mixed original.
