  • International Jet Air (IJA).
The IJA Airline was in service from approximately late 1960’s through to approximately the 1980’s. IJA’s Hangar and FBO carried on and was in service through to approximately the 1990’s and is now part of aviation history in Canada.
International Jet Air was an Air Service based in Calgary that ran Lockheed Electra L188 combo’s carrying freight and passengers and servicing northern Canada. They had a hangar and Fixed-Base-Operation (FBO) at the Calgary International Airport. At the time they also had Hangar #2 in Whitehorse YT for the L188’s operating out of the north.
This video was taken mid 1980’s on my Sony Hi8 consumer video camera then edited and transferred to VHS. The poor quality of this video is due to age and being 3rd generation to digital.
As a second career I started and Aerial-Photo company with an office on the second floor of this IJA’s hangar.
At the time I was new to video. I donated myself, camera and time for the experience I was to gain.
This video never aired and I found it in the back of my closet and is now available to you for your entertainment.
It is historical to aviation in Calgary and Canada's North.
I re-edited it, did voice-over and added Apples iMovie’s royalty-free music for background.
