I think its a very unusual matchup as you can't edge guard or combo yoshi, but I think if a Puff optimized the rest or rest combo punish game it would be even as Yoshi's attacks tend to be more laggy than Puff and although Yoshi is fast especially vertically, his air accelaration is slower than Puff meaning that he turns to slip around in the air.
@@AlexRodriguez-gb9ez Yoshi's attacks are slower? Lol. What can puff do to make Yoshi approach? What can puff do to a defensive patient yoshi? Nothing. She has to approach, and loses every trade. This mu will never be close to even lol.
@@djdrizzy9139 Yoshi's attacks have longer duration so they are commital, except for nair Yoshi's attacks also have longer startup. Yoshi has combos, but many of those uair combos aren't true combos and Puff can 2-frame rest out of them. Maybe true that Yoshidora approaches too much, but if you don't approach at all you could lose stage control, if puff corners yoshi at the end of the stage she can parry or side-step rest, she can also do jab->sing->rest, or do a 50/50 using rest's inv frames. Also if Yoshi does retreating bair, Yoshi has high air-speed but Puff's good air acceleration allows puff to catch up many times.
@@AlexRodriguez-gb9ez Good luck consistently getting rest combos on anyone, let alone Yoshi. Puff can rest everyone, but she doesn't win or go even in most matchups. Yoshi only needs a few interactions to put puff in kill %. Yoshi has many true combos; Yoshidora only got rested when hitting up air 2 at low %, but higher % puff can't do that. Yoshi combos puff harder, racks up damage to kill % fast, and can force puff to approach and punish with his larger hit boxes and out of shield options. Again, how can this be even?
Bassmage was playing out of his mind here. I didn't catch this live, but, seeing 3-2 on the bracket definitely raised an eyebrow and made me curious because I know how one sided this match up typically is.
Yoshidora is the goat, but he wasn't ready for Bass' puff. He was too aggressive vs defensive Puff; all he had to do was camp or play defensively and puff couldn't do anything. Glad he won though!
Either is mu is greatly exaggerated as horrible or more puffs have gotten better at it cause I’ve seen a lot of yoshi puff sets go back and forth and doesn’t look unwinnable as it’s made out to be
@@Mike-di3mo Yeah it is -2, I can tell as a Yoshi main. My point is that if a Yoshi is playing overly aggressive vs a defensive Puff, the mu becomes winnable for Puff. Clearly a Yoshi isn't gonna win as easily if he always approaches Puff recklessly and gets whiff punished.
Bassmage is such an amazing player. This MU is atrocious and yoshidora is top 20. I swear bass is the best player int he world sometimes. Hopefully he will pick up a better character soon.
Picking up a new character never helps a character specialist. He mains puff because that's who he likes and by extension is who he performs best with. Very few players are well rounded enough to use various characters at top level or swap to a character that doesn't play like their previous main. If he switched off puff, his result would just get worse.
Yoshi can't be comboed with aerials or edge guarded and he is fast in the air, but Yoshi's attacks can be laggy and his movement can cause him to move into hitboxes so the matchup is about optimizing punishments especially rest. Sonic is IMO the best character against puff.
@@djdrizzy9139 Absolutely, I was rooting for Bassmage, but I did think that Yoshidora was not prepared for some of the counter play Bassmage had for Yoshi, and Yoshidora was playing too aggressive. @@Retr0Sk1ll Nah I know how puff works her win condition is either an edgeguard or rest setups so if she can't edgeguard you all she can do is fish for rest so you're forced to play defensive or lose. Boring and one dimentional but that is just my opinion

Bassmage having to play an unwinnable matchup against the best Yoshi in the world.
