  • Escape from LA lockdown and heatwave. How about one of the largest waterfalls in SoCal! Bonita Falls goes year round, but in winter with snowmelt the waterfall is at its grandest. Hike to this oasis of the San Gabriels is not well defined. The route to the waterfall is up through Lytle Creek’s south fork, which is a rocky creek bed so there’s not much of a trail. Bonita Falls are absolutely stunning during a high water year (best time to go is in the spring after the first several rainstorms). The sound of the flowing water is so relaxing (ASMR) and very Therapeutic. It's very good to the soul.
Bonita Falls are a set of waterfalls in the San Bernardino National Forest, formed by Bonita Creek, that is said to be 370 or 400 feet (113 or 122 meters) in height, but possibly up to 495 feet high because of two undocumented drops in the canyon above. It is the second tallest in the national forest, being surpassed only by 500-foot (152.5 m) Big Falls. These two waterfalls are reputably the tallest in southern California.
