    Nick is right. not all 4 conferences are equal, it shouldn’t take a rocket scientist to know that. it’s why you take the 12 best abstract teams 1 to 12 and make a playoff. not get the Big-12 champion and the G5 bid when they’re getting the doors blown off by them as soon as the first round commences. we saw Liberty vs Oregon this past year. what happened in that game? exactly. and Oregon wasn’t even a top 4 team. I don’t wanna see a potential “cinderella” because that “cinderella story” isn’t happening!!
    12 is too much imo anyway. we already know the top 4 going into the season: Georgia Texas Oregon Ohio State. then you have the wildcards Alabama and for what it’s worth-Michigan. I highly doubt anyone else would win the championship this year.

      We also saw UCF beat Auburn in 2017, We also saw Tulane beat USC. Every sport allows the conference champions to go because they earned a chance to prove people wrong. If they lose, then they lose. If they win it just shows how wrong people were and i see it all the time in basketball. Literally this year NC State went to the final four, A team that shouldnt even have gone to the tournament, but they were beating teams no one thought they would beat. If a team wants to play in the tournament, then win your conference, its that simple. The other reasons these group of 5 teams are never any good is because people do not want to go there because for the longest time, even if you go undefeated, you dont go play for a title. Boise State did that for almost 3 years in a row and never went, why would anyone want to go play for Boise State, or App State when even if they play their best and do everything the CFP Committee wants them to do, they will be left out anyway. It doesn't make sense. If people really think the group of 5 is that bad then make it a separate division, otherwise its unfair to the players that play at those colleges.

      @@MultiKushiethe “parody” is just more SEC and B1G teams. and then people will blame the committee for being biased. and those same people are the ones whining about “we want expansion”
      4 SEC bids 3 B1G bids 1 ACC bid 1 Big-12 bid then Notre Dame and a G5.
      look past the 10 years and the deserving team is 2-9 in the CFP. BCS was flawed, 4 team was flawed, we all knew that. but by the end of the season, you had a large enough sample size to know who the best in the country is. the Pac-12 was the weakest for a long time and didn’t deserve in for a number of years

    When only picking the top four teams, there obviously were some situations where a deserving elite team may have been left out. With 12 spots now, we definitely should be able to get at least the top eight or so best teams. If 12 teams were picked last year, Georgia, Oregon, Florida State, and Ohio State would have been included. In my mind those were the elite teams. I don't agree with Saban that as fans we would have been tripping over who the 10-12 teams were. I think it is a GREAT THING FOR THE SPORT to have the opportunities for various conference champions outside of the SEC and Big Ten to participate. How many times during March Madness have a half dozen or more teams from a supposedly superior conference gotten a lot of those teams knocked off early in the tournament. So, because a 6-7 Auburn team had Alabama on the ropes in the Iron Bowl last year, and only lost by a touchdown to Georgia, does that mean that they are automatically better than various champions from so-called weaker conferences? Of course not. That is the same team that got spanked by New Mexico State 31-10. Obviously, some conferences are stronger than others, and should get some teams in as at-large bids, but lets not get ridiculous with arguments about how a four or five loss SEC team is really better than a team from another conference in the playoff with an automatic bid. Plus, potential recruits and transfer portal guys may now choose a school that they perceive as maybe having an easier path to the playoffs, thus, leveling the playing field some.

      Alabama went 9-0 in the SEC and lost to Texas and Michigan. The SEC got its reputation by playing really tough defense throughout the conference. Nowadays, the defense is trash in the SEC and the conference has been down. And btw, they only play 8 SEC games and they usually schedule four cupcakes and usually there's 6 or 7 SEC teams that are not that competitive. It's all hype. The truth is there's only a team or sometimes two teams in any power conference that has a legit shot at winning a natty. That's regardless of what conference they're playing in.

He’s missed already, happy he’s staying around in a role, bamas paying him $500,004 a year, he’s worth all of it. He’s the best to ever do it at the college level, HOWEVER, it’s no coincidence two of the greats did it at Alabama, we have the funding and the fans support, to be great. At the moment now Kirby Smart is without a doubt the greatest active coach in NCAA football and will be for a while. Georgia didn’t get an indoor practice facility until Kirby, that’s crazy Bama has had one since Bill Curry was coach very different commitment levels to football. The East has improved since Tennessee improved but only 2 teams have put it together enough to move the needle. • @donjon1179
      @donjon1179 Месяц назад

      lol brain dead take. He was trying to warn people that there will be no more dynasties and that basically no one would ever be able recreate or accomplish what his bama teams did and what other dynasties before him did (USC, Florida, etc.) cause there’s no loyalty to sticking to a coach’s vision anymore and that’s what it took to create dynasties. He had top 3 recruiting classes before and after NIL and went to multiple playoff games and natties in the same era. His retiring came from the fact that he was 72 years old and wanted to get more than 4 hours of sleep a night and the fact that every single method he ever built his coaching prowess around was tossed out the window with NIL. The players do not give af about development as much anymore compared to exposure cause in today’s world exposure is just as valuable as development. Shedeur Sanders is a prime example. Talented kid but isn’t as developed and polished as other elite QBs but because of the exposure he’s gotten via NIL and his dad he’s considered a top tier QB. He could have both exposure and development if he has a winning season w Deion before he leaves and proves it in the field but he and other modern players don’t NEED that proven development like they used to cause that was the guarantee w Nick/Bama, it was ‘hey you won’t get paid but you’ll get exposure and development so you’ll be a top pick in the draft and by then you’ll be getting a big multi million dollar contract in the NFL.’
      Players today straight up can bypass that cause of exposure and base level talent.
      He succeeded at both levels but decided he didn’t want to mess with it anymore. Imagine being the best at something for 2 decades and then cause you’re to good at it someone makes a rule that basically takes away all the work you put in to earn certain advantages to be the best. I wouldn’t wanna do it either cause at that point I’ll have realized no matter how good I did it people don’t look at it and respect it and try to recreate it they simply just say well I want a piece of what he’s got but I’m not willing to do what he did to get it so the only way to even the playing field is by bringing me down.
      Also for the record there are literally documentaries on multiple colleges during Saban’s time where it was beyond obvious they were paying players under the table like Nick did, he just straight up did it better.
