I have a copy of the limited edition which Easton Press did of Frederick Barnard's illustrated 1880 edition of Pilgrims Progress. I hope I'm able to acquire this Folio edition as well. It's a beautiful book. I love the story, and like adding varying illustrated editions to my collection. This would be a definite splurge for me though. Hope it's still available if I'm eventually able to do it. I missed out on Folio's limited Wanderer, which I really would have liked to get, but just couldn't justify doing at the time.
Stunning volume. The prices for these in Canadian dollars are so prohibitive I can't justify the expense, so I'm very happy to see them going to appreciative homes.
It's all high quality stuff but Blake's illustrations seem to have an unfinished, even "dashed off" quality about them. Perhaps some of them were intended to be just rough drafts?
@@PontusPresents so part two is there but without illustrations. I have an old copy form 1893 of both parts illustrated but not by Blake. Thanks for sharing if I didn't mention it earlier! I love your videos!
This edition looks great, too expensive for me to bite though. I have the standard Easton Press edition, which unfortunately only includes the first book. It's a mystery to me why a work so central to Protestantism doesn't have a greater variety of hardcover editions available.
It does. Oh my it does. Look on Ebay there is a copy by the Limited Editions Club which is truly amazing. 1941 though. It is a limited edition with all of Blake's illustrations including an additional one that was intended for another title and all of the text is beautiful letter press and you will pay only a fraction of what this volume sells for. Only the Limited Editions Club version only includes part one. There are many others through out the years and it has never been out of print. I have an older 1893 edition with Benard's illustrations and it is wonderful and still in decent condition. But look up the Limited Editions Club version I got mine for $60 and it is in perfect condition. The text and illustrations are as good if not better than Folio Society and I have many Folio Society Limited Editions and I love them but for the money Limited Editions Club is outstanding. I actually just checked and there is one for sale on ABE Books. They are of course from 1941 but the printing is the best letter press I have ever seen and the illustrations are so vivid. here is the link to the one on ABE. www.abebooks.com/servlet/BookDetailsPL?bi=30562924235&searchurl=pn%3Dlimited%2Beditions%2Bclub%26bi%3D0%26ds%3D30%26bx%3Doff%26sortby%3D17%26tn%3Dpilgrim%2527s%2Bprogress%26recentlyadded%3Dall&cm_sp=snippet-_-srp1-_-image1

Wow; I thought it looked amazing but I simply don’t have the disposable income to get something like this
Still waiting to see your paperback bookshelf Pontus! Greetings from Finland! :)
I will try to make that video on Saturday if things goes as planned!
Very nice although I still prefer Frederick Barnard's illustrations over Blake's watercolor.

Am so jealous
That looks like it is only part 1. The second part is the part where christian goes back to get his wife and children
Only part 1 is illustrated.

Horrible illustrations...
