  • Osram lightify strips around TV and a single osram color bulb. Quick demo or changing colors, with both in a group with wink.
    The tv light stips have a adhesive backing, its one osram controllor from the "kit" and an extra strip set, so its 4 strips total to cover a 60" TV.

    Mike thanks for the post. I am new to WInk and haven't found any help for these lightbulbs and controlling the color scenes via wink. This was extremely helpful.

    I set up my flex light strips, they work great! Just one question.....if on a timer or command how can I get them to turn on to a specific color?
    For example if they are scheduled to come on at 6:45am I want them to be blue. But in the evening I want them to turn to a warm white at 5pm. Is that possible?

    hey! how did you manage the task of connecting the 4 strips in a square shape? just got mine today and I'm thinking I need some L shaped connectors or something.

      Kia Matthews - they are flexible so just linked together then stuck on the inside edge of the TV. 90 degree turns flex without issue.

    Just came across this video - but does the Wink hub allow for cycling through random colors on a designated timer? I'm thinking about ditching my ST hub and going for Wink instead.

    • @HOUSEOFDULA
      @HOUSEOFDULA  7 лет назад

      Currently, it does not allow for this. However, there is a very powerful app called Stringify. There are recipes that can be built out and shared and makes the HA more intelligent with endless possibilities. There is a recipe on there I use but didnt create that does this, you set it to start at a time, and it cycles through dirfferent colors like every minute, but even it not random, these are programmed designated colors. I use the Wink schedule to change the colors, as it gets later the blue around he TV and light will get darker...

    Do you still need the osram hub or does the wink hub run them? And how do you like the wink relay? I see amazon has it on sale.

    • @HOUSEOFDULA
      @HOUSEOFDULA  7 лет назад

      No need for the osram hub. Wink controls it directly. I love my wink hub. Controls everything and i couldnt imagine life without it. The relay? Eh, i use it, mostly to control a shortcut that opens my garage door. Other than that i use amazon echo fir most commands to my hub.

    Hey Mike, how did you get the Osram Lightify strips added to Wink? In Wink (i'm even on the latest version) - the only Osram items to add are the light bulbs - not the strips.

    • @HOUSEOFDULA
      @HOUSEOFDULA  7 лет назад

      Unless they removed it from a later version, Im 99% certain I added it as a standard Osram Lightify bulb. Once paired it shows up as a strip. Both function the same and are on the same protocol.

      One thing I discovered right away is that the Osram Lightify stripa and bulbs do not work with the Wink Link hub (the small outlet-mounted one).

      Brett Henrichsen Were you able to get their lights strip to change colors?

    Hey nice setup! Working on mine currently. Have you found another hub that will control the osram colored lights as well as the original hub. Just switched to smartthings and I miss my factory colored presets. Like the candy, fireplace, daylight color changing options.

    • @HOUSEOFDULA
      @HOUSEOFDULA  6 лет назад

      No, man that would be cool though! Wink should add that. What hub did that?

    • @bmbertges
      @bmbertges 6 лет назад

      Mike Dula the original osram hub did that

    When scenes are automatically triggered by the Wink Hub, are the transitions from one scene to the next smooth or abrupt? Do the colors fade gradually from one to the next?

    • @HOUSEOFDULA
      @HOUSEOFDULA  6 лет назад

      It has a gradual "fade to" effect when changing colors. On / Off is abrupt for the led strips Ive noticed though.

      Thanks! When triggering a light scene or grouped lights, do all the lights change at the same time or do they change sequentially?

    Hey Mike, nice video. If you don't mind a quick question...I have the Wink and was wondering about the strips. Did you connect the strips to the Wink hub without the gateway?

    • @HOUSEOFDULA
      @HOUSEOFDULA  7 лет назад +2

      Yep. No need for the gateway with wink. It pairs directly to the hub.

      Mike Dula I had bought these about a year ago and Wink had no control over the colors so I returned them. bummed I have to buy them again

    • @HOUSEOFDULA
      @HOUSEOFDULA  7 лет назад

      bjybhs8 - when I bought them they did not have control over it either. I held out and it wasn't but a month or two until they started supporting it, I knew they're working on it. But in the meantime I used the Osram controller.

      I looked at pricing now and I'm pretty sure I paid half the price of what they cost now

    hi, by chance do you have Alexa and if so, are you able to control the colors by voice commands?

    • @HOUSEOFDULA
      @HOUSEOFDULA  7 лет назад

      +bjybhs8 - I do have Alexa, she cannot control the colors directly, the only way to do it is to create a shortcut for different colors and tell Alexa to trigger that shortcut.

    Is this all osram? or have you got some Philips hue's in this too?

    • @HOUSEOFDULA
      @HOUSEOFDULA  7 лет назад +1

      Its all Osram, no Hue here. Hue is $$$ and from what Ive heard the osram colors are brighter and a bit more "vivid" but cant confirm from experience.

    Sorry to bother, are you using the Lightify Gateway in conjunction with the Wink or are you using the Wink solely as the "brains"?

    • @HOUSEOFDULA
      @HOUSEOFDULA  7 лет назад +1

      No bother at all! Wink solely. No need for the gateway when you have the hub.

      Gotcha, thanks for your help. I'll try pairing my lights without the gateway later tonight.

    u think i can use alexa to trigger changing the color of the led strip using wink?

    • @HOUSEOFDULA
      @HOUSEOFDULA  7 лет назад +1

      completeGamer007 - not at the moment you cant. What i did was create a shortcut called "red" "blue" etc...then trigger the shortcut. "Alexa, turn on Red"

      I did a little research and thanks to mike pointing out that these bulbs can be color controlled via shortcuts, it looks like IFTTT has a wink shortcut for alexa. Im testing it out later tonight :)

    • @naiJenn
      @naiJenn 7 лет назад +1

      I take it back - you most likely don't need IFTTT - look in your alexa app Smart Home Settings. You should see your Shortcuts there - make a new group with those shortcuts and you're all set!

    how were you able to set up the color changing function in wink for the osram lightify light strip? I have not been able to and wink told me that it's not able to yet?

    • @HOUSEOFDULA
      @HOUSEOFDULA  8 лет назад

      It "was" a limitation, the strips had no color option but they have since fixed it...within the last 4 months at least! But this was an app limitation, make sure you update and have the latest wink app. My lightify strips if I press and hold the icon, takes me to a color palette. Hopes this helps!
