    Topher, Why did you tell the person doing a show-and-tell that you hope she has a good container for her meteorite?

    • @TopherspinMeteorites
      @TopherspinMeteorites  3 года назад

      Please provide a timestamp. If it was the translucent slice of Imilac (Pallasite), safety. They are over $20+/g and hers has broken Olivine near the edge that could easily break off.

    • @ttttate1
      @ttttate1 3 года назад

      @@TopherspinMeteorites It was Marissa at 1:11:50. So, yes, it must have been about the olivine.
      Has that particular specimen been coated with something to prevent further damage or rust?

    • @TopherspinMeteorites
      @TopherspinMeteorites  3 года назад

      @@ttttate1 This is it! Protect those Olivines. No coating. Imilac is pretty stable - and more expensive than others.

      I don't offer free services to help ID stones. I am not a trained Geologist. Do you believe that you really have a meteorite? Submit pictures to: facebook.com/groups/isitameteorite or facebook.com/groups/meteorite.or.meteorwrong. The power of the Facebook Groups I recommend is that there are a bunch of knowledgeable geologists and meteorite people in there.

      It is hard to believe that you are only the fifth person since 1623 to find a meteorite in the UK that wasn't witness to fall. Anything is possible, but I don't think it's plausible.
