Have you read the government said it will only affect 4% of farms. I have heard that the government got it wrong. That they used Hectares instead of Acres, and London elite townies didn't know there was a difference. Now it is said that it may affect 66% of farms, not 4%..

Lots of politicians talking guff about potentially exempt transfers of assets survived by seven years. Last time I looked into this about 10 years ago the position was that making a gift of the farm house to the children would require the parents to move out otherwise the revenue would view the parents remaining in the farmhouse as deriving a benefit. That would reduce the relief available.
